  1. Fields was too busy watching that off the bat. He really has to stop doing that stupid follow-through on his swing.
  2. Hopefully Ozzie wasn't watching and didn't know Getz did that against a LHP.
  3. Haha...that will get him 500 ABs this season.
  4. This bat speed being displayed by Podsednik is absolutely awful.
  5. Most impressive part of the Alexei play was how fast he got himself in good position after the spin move.
  6. Big inning for Buehrle to put up a zero. Definitely credit goes out to Thome with that swing. He's still an amazing low fastball hitter.
  7. Damn, that missed by a foot. Hell of a job Thome!
  8. Really wish Feldman was in, as I'd take Thome's chances against a sinker baller than a hard throwing lefty.
  9. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 2, 2009 -> 01:51 AM) IMO BA has looked much more patient and has just looked better at the plate overall. Fields is off to a decent start after being unimpressive last year. All I'm saying it that I think it's stupid to blame Walker when veterans are making stupid ass mistakes. But I'm open as to why you don't like Walker Fields sucked last year cause his knee was basically worthless. He showed huge power potential 2 years ago when he called up, and he just doesn't look like as aggressive this year (batting him 2nd has got to mess with his mindset). I'm not going to even discuss Anderson though, as his swing still is rather awful for a MLB starting position player and he's shown no extra base hit potential this year.
  10. There was an earthquake in Illinois about 4 years ago that was quite the experience.
  11. Be the offense here CQ! Oh, and I'd take Owens over Pods after just seeing 2 at bats. Maybe the 2nd baseman will boot a ball hit to him at least with Owens at the plate.
  12. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 2, 2009 -> 01:46 AM) Disagree 100%. He's done wonders with a lot of players. I mean, if you want to blame him for certain things, fine, but then you must also give him credit for a lot of players (alexei, fields, Brian Anderson) What has he done for Fields and Anderson? Up to this point, both of them have severely underachieved in the majors and have huge holes in their swing.
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 2, 2009 -> 01:43 AM) If Andruw Jones keeps this up and turns his career around he should donate half of his future earnings to Rudy Jaramillo because he looked done last year. Be careful, as there's a team that's likely going to have some money to spend with a huge hole in CF this offseason.
  14. QUOTE (G&T @ May 2, 2009 -> 01:42 AM) The Yankees are dangerous if their starters go deep (much like every other team). But their pen has been exposed by Wang being awful. They don't carry a long man. They spent a fortune on every position besides their bullpen, when they could have received Juan Cruz for cheap. The Yanks draft pick doesn't really matter, as they're always able to get higher end guys who fall due to signability issues.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 2, 2009 -> 01:38 AM) feldman is feasting on the outside part of the plate. do you see anyone trying to go the other way? Of course not, but Texas has 5 hits up the middle or the opposite way.
  16. Best part of this game easily was seeing the return of the Scott Podsednik "I can't see the ball" hand gesture in the 4th inning
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 2, 2009 -> 01:36 AM) This game is almost unwatchable. How does this team hold its own against Roy Halladay but consistently gets shut down by garbage pitchers year after year? As long as Greg Walker's not around when the new batch of players join the majors, that's all that matters.
  18. Dye seems like the easiest out in baseball if you can get him to a 3-2 count. His K to BB ratio is Daniel Hudson-esque this year.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 2, 2009 -> 12:18 AM) I can, because he sucked horribly. Oh please, no one likes a reclamation project more than KW. KW has tried for years to get Jones. It's too bad we didn't have the chance for Cooper to fix him.
  20. Ugh...I wish Betemit was our DH for an extended period. As the season goes on, Thome should become our #2 hitter. It really seems like batting 2nd has totally altered Fields approach for the worst. Time for him to go to the #7 spot in this order and start hitting the ball with authority.
  21. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ May 2, 2009 -> 01:13 AM) buerhle just not looking good His velocity is scary low right now
  22. I still can't believe KW didn't take a chance on Andruw Jones. It's amazing how skinny he is now.
  23. QUOTE (G&T @ May 2, 2009 -> 12:10 AM) No one was getting to that. I know, it's just going to be interesting to see if the # of triples our pitchers allows increases from April to May with this new defense behind them. My wife is watching elsewhere tonight, and called and ask "what the hell happened to Pods, he looks like he's 40 now?" I love my wife!
  24. QUOTE (tommy @ May 2, 2009 -> 12:08 AM) Leadoff triple. When Mike Huff starts questioning AJP's pitch selection, you know something is going on.
