Crap. Bad pitch by Garcia there to Singleton. Singleton has a slider speed bat, and that's exactly what he got on that pitch.

Not the person Garcia wanted to let get on to start this inning. He'll have his work cut out for him to get out of it without allowing a run.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 10, 2005 -> 12:15 AM) Piazza just hit a 3-run homer off of Leicester in the 1st inning of the Flubs game. The ball was literally right down the middle. 3-0 Mets. Piazza's homer was a rocket. That was a horrendous pitch by Leicester. I really like the Mets lineup with everyone back and healthy.

Crede is so dangerous when he doesn't try to hit the ball in the air. Good AB by Crede.

Terrible patience showed by Dye tonight. I hope we don't just settle for our 2 runs scored, and try to win 2-1.

We're a terrible team at holding on runners besides Buehrle. We also never do any pitch-outs in obvious run situations.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 10, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) DP!!! Good pitch by Garcia there to get the DP. Good try by Iguchi there.

Game Thread 5-9-2005 Sox .vs. Rays
It was clearly the right call to have Iguchi bunt. If your 3-4 hitters can't get the guy in from 3rd, that's their fault. Iguchi hits a lot of grounders, so he's a threat to hit into a DP in that situation.

Seems like we gave Tampa some momentum now. Garcia needs to keep his pitches down.

Everett has got to stop swinging at every single pitch. He's getting himself in a poor hitter's count almost every time up now. It's ironic that he took a called 3rd, I guess.

Horrific AB by Rowand there. Big opportunity blown there by Everett and Rowand.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:55 PM) Wow, Carl has been bad recently, especially in this kind of situation. Carl's eye at the plate has been brutal lately.

Terrible AB by Everett there. It's up to Konerko now to get the runners in.

This is a situation where Everett has been having a difficult time getting the runner in this season. A simple fly ball should do the trick.

That was a beautiful bunt by Pods with Nomo on the mound.

I'm sure it's not accurate, but Cabrera on the Orioles just threw a fastball at 100 mph. We'll see him this wknd.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:45 PM) Agreed. His hitting streak is over and his AVG is dropping fast. He's down to .270 now. The biggest problem I have is that the swing Crede is taking on these pitches is giving him absolutely no chance at getting a hit. He's dropping his hands a ton, and his entire body is basically getting underneath the ball.

Game Thread 5-9-2005 Sox .vs. Rays
I'm really sick and tired of seeing Crede continue to hit infield popups on low pitches. He does it about twice a game now, and it's just a terrible swing.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:38 PM) Remember that walkoff homer in Oakland last year? I believe it was Erubiel Durazo, and DJ said he hadn't hit a homer since the previous September. Next pitch, gone. Not to sound like a jackass, but I'm pretty sure it was Kotsay vs Adkins.

QUOTE(BuehrleTheAce @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) What did he say? I've got the TB broadcasters on MLB.com. Just talking about how they don't have a homer yet from the number 4 hole this year. Even Venture came out of his hole to tell him not to jinx the situation.

DJ playing with fire on that quote about the number 4 hitter for Tampa. Good job by Garcia overcoming the leadoff walk. Now, we need to continue to have quality ABs vs Nomo.

I'll say it right now: We can't let Huff beat us like Sweeney does for KC. He's easily their most dangerous hitter.

Game Thread 5-9-2005 Sox .vs. Rays
Good pitching by Garcia there to K Lugo. A good throw by A.J. would have had Sanchez out easily at 2nd.
-
Game Thread 5-9-2005 Sox .vs. Rays
Garcia missed all 4 of those pitches by two feet. Not a promising start.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) How the hell did that ball NOT leave? My thought also. The LF seemed to be going back on the ball like it was out. I was hoping maybe it would hit the catwalk.
