  1. And the Cubs have Soriano signed through 2014... ouch.
  2. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 11:58 AM) and you can see what your penis looks like. 2 for 2 XD. I wonder if Lou regrets taking the Cubs job...
  3. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 12:50 AM) i f***ing love 2005. This.
  4. On an unrelated note, I can't believe that the Dodgers were only 84-78 in the regular season. That team is absolutely loaded with talent.
  5. I generally avoid taking pleasure in another team's hopes being dashed because I know firsthand how badly this game can break your heart, but for the Cubs I can make an exception. I'm loving this.
  6. Torii Hunter limping off the field? edit: Appears to be okay. Jammed knee, but he's still out there.
  7. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) Good, then that means we can deal him. Mark my words, he's history. I'm not a fan of Vazquez, but trading him would create a huge hole. I don't think he'll be dealt, especially because his value is currently quite low. I could be wrong though.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) What would we have to give Baltimore to get Huff OR Mora and Roberts?? I wouldn't want anything to do with Huff. We would be buying high and there is little chance he replicates this career year of his. I could go for Mora as a stopgap until Beckham is ready. So I guess Fields is out of the picture now? Shame we didn't trade him when he was still a blue-chip prospect.
  9. I don't think Vazquez will be going anywhere. Starters that can give you 200 innings and a 4.50 ERA are extremely valuable in today's pitching market.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) My boy Brian Roberts finds a way, and that's just 1 off the top of my head. Cabrera isn't so bad, but his attitude and all that makes people forget he hit close to .285 and I believe (I'm guessing) his OBP was around .335. That isn't great by Cabrera, but he isn't a lead-off guy anyways. He's a good 8, 9, or 2 hitter in the MLB. I agree that Brian Roberts would be an ideal fit for our lineup, but I'm not sure we have the horses to get him. Orlando Hudson is probably more likely as an FA.
  11. Boston up 4-0 in the first. And yet again, the Red Sox dominate the Angels in the ALDS.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:38 PM) How so? I meant that we have a WS in recent memory. The Mets collapsed spectacularly in two consecutive years, the Brewers are about to lose in the first round in their first postseason appearance in 25 years, and the Cubs... well, enough said. A lot of teams' fans would kill to have had our recent success.
  13. Even if we get swept on Sunday, remember that at least we're not the Brewers, Cubs, or Mets.
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) No, he's an excellent offensive player. Not an excellent hitter, though. I agree that high AVG/high OBP is preferable to low AVG/high OBP, but guys like that are hard to find.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) Yeah, that's all he does. He hit what, .245? I never said he doesn't get on base for us- that would be the reason I'd want to keep him actually, if his AVG wasn't so bad. So yeah, he isn't a good hitter. Probably 75% of Adam Dunn's hits were extra base hits, does that make him a good hitter? Don't think so. Adam Dunn is an excellent hitter.
  16. A comeback can happen, but if it doesn't, I will continue to cherish 2005. This year reminded me just how incredibly difficult it is to win the World Series, and how special it is of an accomplishment.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:23 PM) Right, There's still a play to be made afterward. Congrats. I said that already. Doesn't excuse the s*** call. The umpires were just terrible today.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) It's what these things lead to. That's the point. They create new opportunities that shouldn't be there. And what was the non-call at first base? The non-strike just gave Iwomarua a more favorable count. Mark Buerhle still had to throw the meatball that could be hit out.
  19. Even with Sabean at the helm, there's no way the Giants trade Lincecum.
