Quick quesiton-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) I would suggest they have a race for the number. This kind of reckless thinking is why players get hurt!

Paulie...... Team Captain?
Buehrle. He's been here a while, he's a horse, and he's not afraid to be a horse's ass. He's a great face to this team and from my limited knowledge a capable leader.

Part of our problem
Yeah, I'm not blaming us losing on anything at all especially not the fans. I'm talking about something completely different, our pessimism.
-
Part of our problem
I think part of our pessimism on this board is because our team wins, yes, but we don't look good on paper. Our lineup on paper looks absolutely flat, and no matter what there's no number for clutch hitting so we can't really know if that is true or not. Our staff looks decent on paper, although some things have inflated lately and our back end doesn't look stellar on paper. Our bullpen on paper actually does look good on paper although I personally don't have too much trust in it at times. But overall, i think its the fact that on paper we appear to be overachieving, and our keys to winning often can't be measured with numbers. No stat for team chemisty, no Ozzie Factor stat, no true stat for clutch hitting, no stat for judgement of fly balls, a lot of our claims to fame this year aren't exactly easy to measure. So yes, my friends, I can understand your pessimism, when our play seems to match our look on paper.

QUOTE(dasox24 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) It's "I hope we never part." Get it right or pay the price! Kids these days are so deprived... Anyone watch "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" Now, that was a good show. Or, how about "Legends of the Hidden Temple"? I think that was what it was called anyway. I used to watch "Are you Afraid of the Dark?"..I remember being 6 and thinking I was a badass because it was rating Y-7 ... Was that temple a like gameshow or am I way off track?

Amphetamines vs Anabolic Steroids
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) I don't know how 'speed' would improve your baseball skills. I can see it helping in football, where there is more reckless abandon. I remember Brian Bozworth wrote that he'd take a handfull of 'no doze' before the game and more at halftime. Baseball, especially hitting, is more about muscle control and timing, so I don't see how being 'wired' would help. It's for when theyre worn out/feel the need for an extra edge over the long season.

Nightengale's Griffey/ Sox update
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) Yep. It's not that far off. Young isn't even considered our best prospect. He's viewed as a guy with some of the most potential in the organization, but it's not even a sure thing he's going to reach it. Potential is a dangerous word.

**Official 2005 High School Football Thread**
BIG football town here in Pontiac. If we dont make it to quarterfinals, we have a disappointed town. If you're wondering how much these people care, two years ago when we played Belleville (next to St. Louis)in the semi-finals we brought 3,000 fans. That's a 3 hour drive for us and 3,000 people out of our 11,000 person town (including inmates) showed up. That's huge. When our team went 6-4 the next year, losing our first conference game in 12 years, the town was in uproar.

Podsednik
QUOTE(Spiff @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:33 AM) He's just tired, that's all. The other day he got a really good jump but halfway through he looked like he was running in slow motion. He wasn't able to dig like he was in the first half, he was running more upright. If he gets a little time off he'll be fine. Not only that, some catchers have made great plays on him. Off topic, but your sig = the s***. I wanna be the Widge when I grow up Not even sure if I want that in green..lol
