  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) Maybe I'll surprise everyone and take care of it today...but its doubtful, lol. By the way for the people who couldn't see the 2nd quote box, there is something odd going on. On my browser at work (mozilla) I see the quote + and the normal quote. On my browser at home (mozilla) I see the quote+ and then a reply" For those that are seeing the reply" and were having trouble quoting, that is the button you should hit for a normal quoted reply. I was wondering what everyone was talking about with the 2 "Quote" buttons. I use IE so this makes more sense. I plan on going to Firefox at home though. Any issues I should be aware about with Firefox?
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) It is definately your computer then, because all 3 different sizes show up for me, and my avy is showing up just fine. I'm at home and everything is fine now. I can see all the text size formatting. I guess it's just some obscure setting on my work computer. (still can't see your avitar though.)
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) It is definately your computer then, because all 3 different sizes show up for me, and my avy is showing up just fine. Odd. Your's is the only avitar that doesn't show up.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Nope, but I'll try it now. BigBigger small How's that look? Nope. All the same size. BTW, your avitar (I think) is not showing up under your name.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Huh. That's strange. It is showing up on the site, and the coding is working just fine. It must be something screwy with your computer. Yeah. That's the conclusion I've come to. I'll check these posts when I get home and see if that makes a difference. Did you vary the text size in any of your responses to me? I'm wondering if I can see other's text sizing effects.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Are you looking at it after or before you post it? Scroll back up at your old posts and see if you can see them now. Already did. There's no variation in text sizing.
  7. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) To cover the Timo topic... I do think Timo is overpaid at $1 mill...had he been non-tendered, he would have gotten a minor league contract from some team and may not have made their MLB roster. However, him being overpaid by $500,000 is not going to kill our chances getting AJP. The Sox, as of right now, still probably have about $6-7 mill they can spend in FA....however, they will want some of it to be available so they can fill a need at the trade deadline if necessary. If they need say a very good reliever or a very good starter, and one becomes available, they will have the resources financially to get that player. Also on the topic of Timo...he is terrible. I would imagine that we'd be pretty damn lucky to trade him and get anything that could be worthwhile. He doesn't hit well, he isn't fast, he doesn't field well, his arm is good but he is sometimes slow to release the ball(and Jamie Burke knows that all too well)...and that clutch argument is garbage. I don't care if a guy can hit late in the game...if he can hit late in the game, why in the hell can't he hit early in the game? Regarding the offers to AJP and Taguchi...I hope we get them. I do think there is a decent chance we get AJP, but I personally doubt we get Taguchi...he was reportedly looking for Kaz money, and the Sox weren't(or shouldn't be) offering him that...they shouldn't offer him half of that. I'm pretty sure Kaz got somewhere around $7 mill a year...the most the Sox should go with Taguchi is $3 mill. If we offer him $3 mill, and that's the best offer he receives, he will likely head back to Japan. Well, that pretty much sums it up!
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) I think I count 4 different text sizes in your post that are showing up Hmmmmm. Then I guess I just can't see them. Any idea why my computer is forcing monosizing of text? I'll have to try this from my home computer tonight and see if I can see it there. I know it worked when I was PMing another member (from my home computer) but that was before the upgrade.
  9. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 02:50 PM) The size seems to be working just fine.... Nope. All the text in my post are the same size ... but they shouldn't be.
  10. The font "SIZE" pulldown seems to have no effect on font size. (That was supposed to be in the "Largest" font size) Color and Font Style seem to be working fine.
  11. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Many of us feel Timo's contract/presence will hurt the club in the long run. We have an outfield of Podsednik, Rowand, Dye. We have Escobar, Gload, and Borchard off the bench and we have Anderson and Sweeny only a few years away. Why have Timo? Why? Was: "C'mon Timo, C'mon Timo, C'mon Timo" fun? Yes. If we miss out on either AJP or Iguchi because of this guy's contract will Timo backers continue to sing his prasies? I dunno. He'll produce for your ballclub, but we have other needs. Gload is not .... REPEAT NOT ... a viable option in the outfield. Very good option at first but again .... NOT THE OUTFIELD! While Frank is gone (if at all) I'd put Everett out in the outfield (not a pretty picture either) to spell the starters and use Gload as the DH.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) :headshake So then who is our reserve outfielder? Borchard, or Escobar? I think the better question is where else was Timo going to sign for $1 mil (or even less). We could have had Dustin Mohr for less, probably. And if Escobar is healthy I'd rather have him than Timo. Much more versatile.
  13. Here's a humorous Yankee evaluation: Hardball Times article
  14. My first post here. I've been lurking for awhile now. I'm originally from the CBSSportsline boards but idiots run amok over there. We did find an old abandoned board address and have a small group of good posters from various teams (alot of cub fans, but they're the better ones it would seem). I mainly post on: http://wc0.worldcrossing.com/WebX?14@@.1dddf85e as ISF has posted earlier in this thread. Alot older fans there, not any teens that I can tell. I, too, was booted off of WSI for essentially calling the moderators Nazis for there heavy handed treatment of posters who posted unpopular opinions. The mods there seem to be on a power trip to the point were it's almost comical. There are more members there and thus more older fans but they have plenty of youngsters over there as well. I don't think WSI is any more negative than this site, in fact I think the mods there make a point of not letting the negativity get out of hand. I like the less restrictive atmosphere of soxtalk and Worldcrossing. At WSI I always felt I had to second guess my post in case I may "offend" an oversensitive sox fan or, worse yet, a moderator. BTW, a great Sox blog site for the sabermetrically inclined: http://ss***men.blogspot.com/ and another new one that shows promise: http://chisoxanalysis.blogspot.com/ PS - I'll need to work on my graphics! Any help with avitars and signatures is welcome.
