  1. QUOTE(Felix @ May 22, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) No, it was ridiculous. Get it straight It was ridiculous not to give him a chance. To say a pitcher isn't major league caliber after a couple of years, none of which were under coop, is ridiculous.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 22, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) Ok, you took one shot at him, why copy and paste and do it again? The site has a GREAT ignore feature, use it. THank you greatly.
  3. QUOTE(Felix @ May 22, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) How was it ridiculous to say that a pitcher who was absolutely horrible for the Mariners wouldn't be a good major leaguer? Do you have some crystal ball that tells you everyone that's going to be good in the future? Please, stop looking at things in the past and analyzing them like they were said today. Many people said that there was a good chance that he could be effective. Many said it was a very good trade. I've said all of these things before. That's not hindsight.
  4. QUOTE(JimH @ May 22, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) Maybe I'm missing an inside joke? He has looked pretty good to me. Just one of many ridiculous things said before on this board.
  5. QUOTE(JimH @ May 22, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) They are flat, they looked good the first two games against the Cubs but their intensity looks inconsistent to me. Looked like they were flat going into Minny and then they turned it on. Definitely flat vs. Tampa. When you are inconsistent in terms of intensity you have two choices, let these guys play thru it or give some of them a day off or two to clear their heads. The manager and coaching staff have to make those decisions based on the make up of the individual, it's not as simple as just looking at stats. I would get Cintron in there for these last two Oakland games and let him play twice in a row. He needs to get it going too. Considering how poor we have been playing we were lucky to get a crappy Minny team and get 2 from them, then get a crappy cubs team and get 2 from them. It could have been much worse the last two weeks. Hopefully we turn it around soon though, cause we just aren't playing well at all, even in some of the wins.
  6. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ May 22, 2006 -> 08:14 PM) This year we are having last year's August in May. Hopefully, in this year's August we will have last year's May. It's not nearly as bad as it was in August so far. Let's hope it doesn't end up like that though. I know one thing. THornton will never be an effective major league pitcher.
  7. QUOTE(CYGarland @ May 22, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) We suck tonite. Those 3 day games against the Cubs probably took alot out of this team. We just aren't playing well right now. Not getting the big hit, not making the big defensive play, not making the big pitch. Just not playing well. Been that way for about 2 weeks.
  8. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ May 22, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) yeah right! jacks going to a chinese prison! The last two minutes were okay, but the rest of the hour and 58 minutes wasn't very good.
  9. QUOTE(CYGarland @ May 22, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) Joe is trying to pull EVERYTHING he's in a bigtime slump. It's what happens unfortunately. And when he gets the bloop, it's at the wrong time.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ May 22, 2006 -> 07:31 PM) Garland....13 homers in 56 innings. He had 26 in 221 innings last season. Well, kudos to not repsonding to it. Eh. If that's what they want the boards and game threads to turn into, it's not my place to decide. Game threads were much, much more enjoyable the second half of last year though, even when we were losing. You can be frustrating at times, but at least you know what the hell you are talking about.....most of the time.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ May 22, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) And there's the bait..... Seriously. It's rather frustrating that the mods continue to let it go on and on.
  12. Nasty. No chance. Not surprising at all though.
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ May 22, 2006 -> 07:07 PM) Now Zito is settling in, we have a problem. We had a serious problem the day these games were announced. When Zito was supposed to matchup against Garland it got much, much worse.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ May 22, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) It was bound to happen once we didn't have 6 or 7 guys swinging the bats well in our lineup. Our overal starting pitching (unable to maintain leads) and relief has been disappointing all season. We have the second best starters ERA in the league. They have gotten the job done. I wouldn't call them dissapointing at all. I mean, we still have the second best record in baseball. The offense has been good, the starters good (cept Garland), and the bullpen very mediocre to bad. I'll take the record, especailly considering the way we have played the last 2 weeks.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ May 22, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) No reason for that I'm tired of it. ALl he has to do is not respond to my posts. I've asked and asked and the mods have seen. But he won't stop. It'll make this place much better. I don't respond to him at all anymore.
  16. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 22, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) You should edit out the personal attack before a mod sees it. Every mod in here has seen me say don't respond to my posts and you keep doing it. Hopefully they'll ban both of us.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ May 22, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) That was the Garland of last season. The sooner people start judging him on how he's doing this year, the better the analysis of him will be (same goes for the rest of the pitchers, especially the relievers). A long season, with playoffs included, can have a lasting impact on a pitcher's arms. I am not saying Garland is pitching fine. Obviously he left those pitches up. But Oakland always kills even the best of our pitchers.
  18. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 22, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) No, it's just that the A's own us. Garland is pitching fine. Who the f*** said Garland is pitching fine?
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 22, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) No, Jon is brutal. I have been behind Jon all season up to this, but enough is enough.... Oakland owns all of them. DOesn't matter who is out there. Garland gave us our only two wins against them in 9 tries last year.
