  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 01:06 PM) Dammit. There couldn't be too many coaches out there who would suspend two impact players before a national title game for team rules violations. Oh well. Ummm..... players get suspended for bowl games every year.
  2. QUOTE(gbuk @ Dec 19, 2007 -> 06:14 PM) Are you one of those moron Kentucky fans too? That's redundant!
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 18, 2007 -> 07:28 PM) QB John Wienke decommits from Michigan, commits to Iowa. that news is 3 days old, pre- Rich Rod
  4. palehose, Ty Zeller dropped in 47 points Saturday night against Evansville Bosse. Not sure what kind of squad Bosse has this year, but they were the 3A State runner-up last year. Their two losses this year have come to Zeller and Memorial with Kyle Kuric, who finished with 25 pts and 11 rebounds. Zeller was 20-23 from the field, 7-7 from the FT line and had 8 rebounds. Damn near a perfect game! Hatchets Zeller puts on a show

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Dec 17, 2007 -> 05:50 AM) I just got the Palm Centro for Sprint. I havent gotten into all of its features yet but so far it seems pretty solid. Still getting used to Palm os though. I would have settled for the Centro. But I wasn't going to turn down the free Treo 755
  6. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Dec 17, 2007 -> 11:19 AM) Arthur Brown announces at 4:30 EST today. Down to UNC and Miami. Would be neat to get the #1 defensive recruit in the nation two years in a row. That and his brother is one of the top 25 players in the nation next year as a RB. Strange recruitment with him. Hard to figure.
  7. I'm not buying real interest from Saban here. What I do buy is that Jimmy Sexton, Saban's agent is trying to stir things up. That is what he does. He is the agent for six of the SEC's 12 coaches and a couple of NFL coaches as well, I believe. He's the Scott Boras of college football coaches and he or his "staff" floats rumors all the time. I swear he manufacture's renegotiations and extensions by creating buzz/interest in his clients even when they have no interest in going anywhere. So if you are into the negotiate a contract, float rumors to ruffle enough feathers to get your client an extension with a big raise on previously negotitated contract kind of guy, then Jimmy Sexton is your man.

Finally pulled the trigger and got Nextel/Sprint to get their shtuff together... I decided to go with the Palm Treo 755p. I wasn't really sure which phone to go with and narrowed my wishlist to the Treo, the Blackberry Pearl and the HTC Mogul. Bottom line is I didn't really care as long as I got it free. Long story short, I told them I was tired of Nextel's crappy coverage and I was changing providers. I told them I would switch to Sprint for the right deal. The deal was... Sprint Power Plan - 450 minutes for $39.95 I get to keep my 500 free bonus minutes I have had the last 7 years with Nextel I'd agree to add Sprint Power vision unlimited for $15 and limited text messaging (300 messages) for $5 a free phone 30 days to try it out without commiting to anything I actually shot high with the phones I was asking for, hoping they would give me a Palm Centro or something else decent. They asked for $75 for the Treo and I told them no, the deal was free phone. Before I even said that I would consider a different phone, the lady said "okay, I can do it for free". I was pretty happy. They didn't balk at the 500 bonus minutes either.
  9. Anyone hear anything about Jericho? It's my understanding they ordered 7 more episodes to be shown at sometime during this season. Any idea if any or all of them were shot and able to be shown? Btw, there is a Jericho marathon going on right now on Universal HD, for anyone that has that channel.
  10. Another good drink for chicks is a Colorado Bulldog. Order her one, you'll impress.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 07:59 PM) Is the topic of a big ten team in the final four still being thrown around? you have something to add?
  12. QUOTE(gbuk @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 12:31 AM) It wasn't surprising that Jordan owned his brother. Joe has been one of the bigger busts in Kentucky history, coming off his 5 star, top 10 hype out of high school (along with his bust teammate Malik Hairston). Jordan is quicker, stronger, a better shooter, and better ball handler than Joe has ever been. Jordan defeating his brother that badly was the epitomy of Joe's career. DJ was a man amongst boys only because Kentucky legitimately does have boys down there. Stevenson, Coury, Carter, Stewart, and Harris had no chance defending big men with the power that White and Thomas have. Patterson was not going to guard either to avoid foul trouble, and since Gillispie is set in man-to-man (making sure his style is instilled in these players for the long run) there weren't many adjustments they could make. I like White and think he's a pretty solid player, but for the most part he's not the game changer/dominant big man some make him out to be. Just my opinion, but with Thomas and Mike White helping him out and with a loaded backcourt he doesn't need to be. I know you mention that they only had one guard, but Ellis can absolutely play the two also with his ball handling skills...he's going to be a very good player...and besides, one guard against a team who lacks any competence with the ball, it's not too hard to win that battle. Not exactly sure why you are wanting to argue here, but look at it however you want. DJ has been playing very differently of late, rebounding more aggressively and shooting with confidence. Regardless of competition, DJ is getting better and more confident with every game. His success was not directly related to Kentucky's talent, but more about how he is approaching the game. You can act as if it were no surprise that Jordan outplayed his brother, but I think you are alone in that regard. Jordan was asked to do things yesterday that he has not yet had to as a collegian. He has never played that amount of minutes. There was no fall back. To act as if one knows how a player will react in that situation playing against his older brother is ridiculous. Anyone can act smart after the fact. The 3-game suspension only made the possibilities more cloudy. I know very well what Ellis can do. However, he is not a #2 guard. He is a vintage wing player that is much more a slasher than a shooter. He filled in quite well yesterday and he has skills that can translate to the guard position, but I was really making a point. Their guard depth has been shallow and to lose two more makes yesterday's performance even more unlikely. I along with most IU fans will take yesterday's performance in a heartbeat and smile all day long with it. If you feel better calling is just okay, then go right ahead.
  13. QUOTE(danman31 @ Dec 8, 2007 -> 07:55 PM) Butler must have played the worst basketball known to man. They lost by 1 at Wright St, both teams scored just 15 in the 2nd half. Butler didn't score for the last almost 4 minutes and scored 2 points in the last 7+ minutes. That's so brutal it makes me mad. Damn I wish Evansville could have pulled in Brad Brownell. Don't get me wrong, I am just fine with Marty Simmons, I think he will do well, but it would have been nice to have been at least considered.
  14. What the hell is happening to SIU? Still can't score apparently. SIU down to Charlotte 48-31 midway through the 2nd half.
  15. QUOTE(gbuk @ Dec 8, 2007 -> 05:24 PM) IU didn't look good, Kentucky was just that bad. This is the worst Kentucky team since 1989. By far. IU played very well today. DJ was a man amongst boys inside. DeAndre Thomas was as good as he has been at IU. Mike White was solid. Jordan Crawford played very well especially since he was directly facing off against his older brother most of the game. Jamarcus was his normal self and did a nice job handling the ball. UK is bad, very bad. But IU pounded them with a roster that included only one guard. No backups. Just one and small forward Ellis. I'm not sure how AJ Ratliff will fit into the lineup when he returns, but he should provide depth that will give us flexibility should an injury or foul trouble occur. Still a long way to go, but this team has a chance to be really special.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 04:22 PM) We (miami) get by on confusing the opposition by playing 5 white guys at a time. Miami still home to hot girls everywhere?? When I was on campus many years ago, I was amazed at the talent I saw in just two days. Didn't see that much at Evansville in two years.
  17. Went to the Bama-Georgetown / Auburn-West Virginia games last night. Stacy Dales looked pretty damned hot. I always thought she was attractive, but in person she surprised me. She has a great ass too!
  18. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 12:02 AM) Yeah, but there are games without lines, i.e. App St and Michigan. To me that's a bigger upset. I don't disagree. But the poster was comparing USC's loss to Stanford to LSU's 3OT losses to Kentucky and Arkansas. Night and day!
  19. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) Yeah I do. If LSU can play the "But" game - "But our two losses were both in triple overtime," then USC can play that game too - "But we only lost to Stanford (by one point) because our quarterback broke his hand in the game." USC's loss to Stanford was the greatest upset in college history according to the point spread. They could not find another game where a 40+ point underdog won outright.
  20. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 12:57 PM) Got my ticket, plane, and hotel booked; Greasy's going bowling! :headbang Good for you. Have a blast!!!
  21. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) don't get me wrong. i'm not criticizing your enthusiasm. indiana clearly has a great team and some nice players. some perspective would be nice is all. from a basketball standpoint, there are more than a few teams that are much deeper and more well-rounded than indiana is, imo. How's this for perspective? Indiana has a game-changing guard who can take over a game like few other players. Indiana has an excellenct college big man in DJ White. They have a very good all-around player in small forward Jamarcus Ellis. Sophomore Armon Bassett is very talented, but still young and unproven in big time games. Freshman PG Jordan Crawford is talented, but as most freshman go, he'll be up and down. They have some solid role players in Lance Stemler, Mike White and DeAndre Thomas. They shoot well from 3pt range. They shoot FT's extremely well. They have a chance to be a very good team. That said, they are unproven at this point. Their interior defense, while better since the Xavier fiasco, needs big time improvement. Their depth inside is shaky at the moment. Hopefully some of the younger players will develop and earn time in the rotation and White and Thomas will become and stay consistent. Their guards have a tendency to go into one-on-one mode that creates turnovers and bad shots. That will have to change. We have no idea what kind of contribution we will get from AJ Ratliff when back from his suspension. He could be a huge addition or a problem, not fitting into the current rotation and negatively affecting chemistry. They have the ability to defend on the perimiter, but lose focus at times, a sign of young players. It takes discipline to play defense throughout the entire shot clock. Rebounding is decent but needs to get better. The ingredients are there if certain players improve and provide consistent play. But they are not there yet, regardless of what they have done so far. At this point they could become a Final Four team or finish fourth in the Big Ten. So you could see a 2-seed in the Big Dance or a 7-seed. Time will tell.
  22. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 10:19 PM) 1) Missouri beat Kansas on a neutral field in November. 2) Missouri had the 26th rated strength of schedule(out of 119 teams) and Kansas had the 109th rated schedule. 3) Missouri is HIGHER ranked in the BCS 4) Missouri is rated higher in both the AP and Coaches Poll 5) Missouri has beaten three teams in the AP top 26 (two of which are BCS bowl teams,) Kansas has beaten 0. 6) Missouri has played five games against AP top 26 teams, Kansas has played 1 and lost that game. 7) In five games against common opponents (Iowa St., Kansas St., Colorado, Texas A&M and Nebraska,) Missouri has outscored the opponents by 125, while Kansas has only outscored the common opponents by 94. 8) Every major expert on Fox's bowl show and ESPN's bowl show agreed that Missouri got jobbed and Kansas did not deserve their BCS bowl bid. Kansas clearly does not deserve to go over Mizzou. After all that, what does it say that Orange Bowl officials could have taken either and took Kansas? It's not the "BCS" that made the decision it is the Orange Bowl. Outside of the conference champions and the NC game, the bowls have a right to pick whichever team they want from the eligible teams. Either someone thought Kansas deserved it, or they felt Kansas would sell more tickets. Either way, I have no problem with it because the system did not fail Missouri. The bowls have always chosen teams and they are not necessarily taken in order of merit. C'est la vie
  23. I'll say it again. Fox sucks!!!!!!!! As far as Missouri and Kansas apparently it simply came down to the choice of the bowl itself. Both were eligible (I'm assuming). Unless there was some politicking by the Big 12 Conference itself, the choice was up to the Orange Bowl.
  24. Does anyone other than me hate the fact that Fox has the BCS bowl games? They do ZERO college football all year and then jump right into the BCS with their NFL talent covering. I hate it! This whole BCS Selection Show is stupid as well. I'm sorry, but college football and the bowls are NOT the NCAA Tournament. And that is okay.
  25. QUOTE(danman31 @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 02:38 PM) Sets them apart by slim margins though. Who cares if they lost in OT? Everyone wants to see LSU in there because they think they are the best when they struggled all season long and haven't dominated since Va Tech. I'm not arguing against them going necessarily, but I think it's foolish to write off other teams and simply hand it to LSU because 'they lost in OT' like that matters. Ummm, isn't the point to find separation to pick the right two teams even if it is small?
