GAME THREAD 6-1-2005 SOX VS HALOS
rangercal replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) Until he was forced to move to second due to a shoulder injury. That makes sense. Didn't know that. I just know we could put a lineup out there to sit cruddys' ass down. He is slow, he hits a hr 2 times a month, hits safely 25% of the time. This guy is just bad. Your randa Idea may not be so bad after all. -

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) If you're going to do that, I'd rather see Willie moved to SS. Iguchi is a 2B. That would work for me. If we had a speedy lineup against a pitcher like byrd, I think we could win easily. -

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 03:04 AM) Iguchi should and will not play at short stop at all costs. wasn't that his gold glove position in Japan? -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 02:59 AM) Byrd has a good changeup and that seems to be the one pitch that Iguchi struggles with. Willie's OBP versus righties is .362 as well. Byrd has a slow delivery. If our speed guys get on they should be running almost everytime. I wish Ozzie would try uribe at 3rd for a change, gooch at ss, and willie at 2b, BTW Didn't Gooch seem to hit Santana's changeup earlier this year ok? -

I like How gooch is swinging the Bat. I don't think he should sit today's game. He is batting .283 vs lefties. .350 at home .336 at night. He has been are most consistent bat this season. Keep him in the lineup. He will get his off day Thursday. -
QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) Fred Hoiberg had it first. Fred earned that name too. He actually got a vote for mayor during an election in Iowa.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 01:57 AM) Ed Walsh 2964 IP 195-126 0.99 WHIP 1.82 ERA That 1.82 ERA is the best for an SP in Major League history. Might as well throw him in as an option, yeah? *cough* dead ball era *cough*

Hawk called pods "the mayor" today.(podsednik is russian for mayor) does anyone think that will stick? I really don't care too much for this nickname. 99% of the time his nicknames are great. Personally I will still call pods "podzilla" or "pods"

I think philly would want at least 1 prospect. Sean tracey maybe?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:42 AM) Is yahoo.com not working for anyone else? I can't get to my fantasy league, I think the site is down or maybe it's just me. Works for me just fine. But for some reason it is down at times. -
Jackson is 2nd in my book. It's a toss-up for third .

QUOTE(farmteam @ May 31, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) Answer this question honestly: Do you think Frank is the best Sox player ever because he's the only on you've seen of the greats? Just curious. Also, I'll add that Jackson was much better defensively. I honestly feel frank is the best. back-to-back mvp. could have won 2 more mvps. Was compared to ruth and williams a good portion of his career. Triple crown threat. Batting Champ. Sox all time Hr and RBI leader.

QUOTE(farmteam @ May 31, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) I'd take Shoeless Joe. Kid had power (No doubt in my mind he could hit for 25-30 homers at least if he played in the modern era) and average. He hit over .400 at least once, possibly twice. I'd probably put Frank at 2, and it's close, but I'd still take Jackson. IF Joe were robbed of an AS game in 2003 he would be on my list.

QUOTE(farmteam @ May 31, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) I don't think you can call Frank the greatest Sox player ever. He's up there, but not at the top. But that's another argument for another day. here's what people on this board have to say about that. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=34237 I'm not the only one who thinks it.

Reasons I hate the all star game 1 Frank not making it in 2000 ( although he finished 2nd in mvp voting) Its a f***ing allstr game! Who cares if he played dh! He could have played 1st base for an inning that game. 2. (cheater) Giambi winning the last ballot in 2003 when it would have been great to see Frank play in his only chance at a comiskey as game. Frank had better numbers at the break too. 3. Konerko getting screwed last year in the last ballot by putting frank in the ballot with him. Thus splitting the votes by sox fans. Konerko was also against Japan's Hideki Matsuii. (torre knew what he was doing on that one) 4 Loiaza getting picked last year (the lone sox representative) When he didn't f***en deserve it. ( I think it was just an extra scouting report for Torre ) 5 Carl getting picked ahead of frank in 03 had me scratching my head again. The greatest player in sox history not playing at his park's all star game. (when he was having an allstar year compared to others who got picked.) 6 paulie getting screwed out of the 2002 mvp because the game ended in a tie. 7 (not really mad at this) Maggs losing the mvp to ripken in 2001 . even though maggs had better numbers and ripken got a freebie pitch. 8 the allstar game is not for the fans. It is for yankee , redsox and cardinal fans 1st. I'm sure I can think of more. I am done venting :fyou all star game!!!

Sox all stars: Buehrle , Garland, ( AJ deserves a look) something tells me we will have the best record and one all star. :headshake

I may not even watch the f***ing "allstar" game

QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) No, if you read what I put, I said that Buehrle's Thunder-Struck ovation was greater then Thomas', people around us also said that same thing. If you were at the game you would have known. Next time go to a game so you dont think you need to question me. I was at the game. Frank's was louder. No need to argue with you because this is stupid and I can't understand your posts anyway.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 31, 2005 -> 08:30 AM) They should disband the Twins...this is a travesty! I was thinking contract the twins!

QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ May 30, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) I went to the game today, 1st row section 159, great seats until the 6th or so inning when the sun was in your eyes. But it was a great time Buehrle was, well, Buehrle, and the Sox f***ed up then found a way to win again. THere was waaaay more then 38,000+ there i think close to 40,000. the place was rocking the hole time. loudest ovation was when Buehrle was introduced during the Thunder-struck intro, Thomas, as expected, got a great ovation as well....great game, 34-17 awesome day...well except i am so f***en burnt right now from sitting in the sun for like 5 hours, but it was a WHITE SOX WINNER so it was all good! If you say Marks ovation was greater than Thomas you're nuts. I'm sure people who were at the game would agree. The greatest ovation was Thomas' 1st ab. People were still clapping and cheering after the 1st couple pitches.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ May 31, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) I hope Olivo gets it together. He's such a good guy. I'll never forget that slam against the Flubs in 03. I was there. Drunk out my ass. Wrigley was silent!!!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 31, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) Dye would have swung at it and had a better chance of homering on that pitch than a first pitch fastball down the middle of the plate (since he doesn't swing at those). I wish we could only play dye against the cubs -
