  1. The only time I'll ever b**** about anything is the day when someone has a board name named after john stamos. ...........Oh wait.......
  2. When as a bartender you put the sox game on tv and lied to your customers by telling them that was the only working channel. You're a die hard when you have 3 younger sisters who are also die hards because of you. Story of one sister; october, 2003 The cubs-marlins series My sister goes to a catholic hs inside the northside of the city. On one friday the principal (cub fan) anounces they will have a dress down day in honor of 911 , the school has to wear red , white and blue. (The whole school mostly cub fans knows it is for the cubs) my sister asked permission to where her magglio jersey. She was told if she did this she will be sent home since it was not red, white, and blue. She was going to be absent that day. Instead, she called me at 4 am that morning to ask to borrow my cork shirt. It was red, white and blue. She came over at 5am, headed to school. Problem solved. The principal was pissed lol
  3. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 11, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) I'm 26, I grew up in Chicago off of Addison and Central, I moved to Niles off of Milwaukee and Oakton when I was 18, and then I moved to Norridge (two blocks from the Harlem & Irving Plaza) when I was 23. Basically, I've been completely surrounded by Polish people all of my life. My best buddies are Polish. so you live by the hip now?

  5. QUOTE(beck72 @ May 11, 2005 -> 07:56 AM) Any team can lose a game like Monday's, after travelling cross country, sweeping another team, having less energy, and playing like s***. Last night's game was a matter of the Sox gift wrapping TB a win with 9 walks and 1 hit batter. My bet is the Sox look better today and this too shall pass Prediction : sox 8 tb 1
  6. QUOTE(beck72 @ May 11, 2005 -> 07:38 AM) Glad to see no one is making too much out of two straight losses well... it is Tampa and accounted for almost 1/4 of our losses so far.
  7. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ May 11, 2005 -> 07:24 AM) Oh so what ever Ozzie says is true? :headshake Watch the replay . Shingo pitched an 80 mile per hour beachball right down the middle of the plate. It is not shingo's fault entirely. I never said that. I don't think anyone did. The point is , he should not be in that type of situation until he proves he can handle less pressure-filled roles.

  15. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 11, 2005 -> 04:15 AM) So Wagner isn't more of a sure thing than Gio Gonzalez? Come on... see: Royce Ring, Corwine Malone, Kris Honel, Joe Borchard
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 11, 2005 -> 04:07 AM) No, you don't know what you are going to get from Wagner. Based on what? His record? See Billy Koch. It is a better chance he will be in the same form aquiring him at mid-season rather than after the off season. Wagner is more predictable than any prospect, especially getting him at mid-season.
  17. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 11, 2005 -> 04:04 AM) Bingo... Good, established talent (i.e. Billy Wagner) > prospects (i.e. Gio Gonzalez) Do you know if Gio Gonzalez is going to be a stud in the majors? Nope. Do you know what you are going to get from Billy Wagner? Yep. Its always a gamble. How high were we on Royce Ring, Corwine Malone, Kris Honel, Joe Borchard? Prospects flop all the time.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 11, 2005 -> 03:58 AM) Why do the Twins make the playoffs? --- Because they always have good young productive prospects they can bring up and replace guys with when needed. Why do the Twins always lose in the playoffs? --- Because they can't afford to get the star player to get you over the hump. Looks to me like if we keep our good prospects, we'll have the flexibility and the cash to get those star players. That's an advantage we have over the Twins that we haven't put to use as of yet. We've traded our kids and haven't built from within very much. Time to start doing that, then we can buy the missing pieces because young talent is also cheap talent. Are you saying that maybe with the help of our prospects , we can be a playoff team for the upcoming years? That's a gamble too. Either way there are no guarantees. If we keep them, or trade them.
  19. This is also on the line: If we win the 2005 World Series. Consider us a Big Market club again. The fans will show like they did in the early to mid 90's. The attendence issue would be dead. I firmly believe that. To me that is the BIG picture.
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 11, 2005 -> 03:48 AM) Their starting rotation isn't good enough? Would Kris Benson have been an upgrade over their 3rd starter Carlos Silva? Santana and Radke is a pretty damn good combo to have in the playoffs. They just haven't scored enough runs really. They could have went after Garcia before we did.....
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 11, 2005 -> 03:44 AM) I take your point. You guys really want to win now, and I don't blame you. I'm just looking out for the future because I don't want us to be in the bottom half of this division (although I don't think that's going to happen). A team to look at through all of this is Minny. Now they haven't really made any big deals at the deadline (remember last year Kubel for Benson), and they keep winning the division. Joe Mauer, Jason Bartlett, Jesse Crain and Justin Morneau show how important it is to have good, young players. Gives you so much more flexibility with the makeup of your team. Im not content with just being competitive. It seems the twins are. (they really can't afford to make mistakes though, being almost contracted and all) We have been an above .500 team almost every year since 90. It is getting old on me.
  22. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 11, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) Hey I'm pretty good at Poker. Ask Wite and Dan. ok so just think of Sweeney, anderson, and gonzalez as poker chips. It makes everything easier
  23. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 11, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) Who said I was offering scrubs? You want to give up our best prospects for a 3 month rental. I know we all want to win a World Series, but we have to look at the long - term picture as well. DBAHO , you need to take a trip here to chicago. You will understand why we are so hungry to win now. No more debates with scubby fans at school, work, family events. You really need to be here
  24. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 11, 2005 -> 03:36 AM) As if Dave Littlefield is going to be stupid enough to do that (but it is Dave Littlefield we're talkin about). I hear the pirates like Borchard
  25. Jabroni , I think vegas is the right place for us. We want the jack pot. DBAHO Likes security which is understandable.
