It looks like Hummel is being groomed to be the next Tony Graffinino.

I have heard nothing but great things about that Japanese SS. I believe his name, like the NY outfielder, is Matsui. I would like to think the Sox would focus in the area, since he's an obvious solution to an obvious need.

After watching Colon pitch for the first 11 or so weeks of the season, I feel he is a valuable commodity. He does eat innings up, usually gives you a quality start and can be dominant, at times. However, Having some idea of JR's budget restraint and his philosphy on giving pitchers big money, long term contracts, I think it will probably become a moot point. Colon more than likely wants out of here, and JR more than likely wouldn't sign him to the type of contract he wants, so I'd say after this season, he'll walk. The only question at this point is, do we trade this guy, or keep him around in case we actually become a factor in the AL Central race?

While watching the game, when JM took Colon out, I posted a resounding "NOOOOOOOOOO!" on the game thread. As far as the game situation, the way Colon was throwing, I thought it was a bad move at the time. I repeat, at that time, not after Marte gave up the runs. I still, of course, feel that it was a bad move. But if Colon wimped out, what could Jerry do?

No way in hell I would have pulled Colon out at that point in the game... He was sailing along... making the big pitch when he needed it. JM just outsmarted himself so he could do that damn double switch. And for the record ... when they said Colon was coming out I reacted with a resounding NOOOOOOOO! So, this is not a "second guess".

No error .. but having the force at 2nd would have given him more of a chance to get an out. Tough play to make.
