Just trying to look at this in different (Juan Gone's?) perspective. He has always been successful in a Ranger's uniform. He changed teams once before, to the Kitties, and it was basically a nightmare for all parties concerned. He's happy in Texas, he's productive and it messes with his family situation. There are other things a husband/father has to take into consideration other than competitiveness. I know, he's in the wrong business then, but his contract says otherwise.
If these quotes have been posted already, I apologize. But, I don't recall seeing them. These all refer to possible trading scenarios.
And this one I thought was most interesting. Bidding war?
On you, I'd classy either type as "sexy".
BTW, when I was growing up they were called pedal pushers.
lol.. showin ya age there huh hon?????
I'm not afraid to show my age. I consider each and every year an accomplishment.
You know ... for a bunch of people that are politically correct in their views regarding race, religion, sexual preference, etc. To catagorize a bunch of people as ignorant because the happen to be from a certain area of the country is really hypocritical. Calling someone a hillbilly is just as offensive as calling someone a n***** or a f***** or a k***, wop, whatever.
Not giving up a Number 1 pick is the what's so sweet about looking at this Japanese SS. For too long, this organization has either been unwilling or unitelligent enough to "think outside the box".
Kile was on the most recent HOF ballot (Clemente clause?). The 5 year waiting period was waived. He didn't get enough votes to remain on the ballot in future years, IIRC. Still, the guy was good pitcher and anytime someone dies at such a young age it is a tradegy.
Personally, I have no problems with Valentin. I've always thought he was a solid ballplayer and one that gave you 100% every game. However, I think the window on Jose having any marketability is closing fast. We should get something for him while we still can.
That "don't tell me how it ends" remark .... That was like bouncing a straight line at a comedians convention. I set a bunch of you up. Not bad comebacks either.
If Mark Buehrle, growing up a Cardinals fan, decides he's a die hard Cardinals fan, how can I, having been a White Sox fan for 40+ years, criticize that. If I was playing for the Cardinals, I would still be a White Sox fan, without a doubt.
If, after these 2 series we are at .500 vs Twins .... for the season, then I'll be happy with .500. But just splitting these 6 games is not good enough.
I didn't knock JM for leaving Colon in against SF, because I thought that was the right move... and I did not think it was right to remove him against the Cubs. O'Leary was hitting .324 career vs. Colon. BFD... He still gets him out 68% of the time! And if he doesn't, odds are its a single. He could have always pitched around him and maybe walked him.... maybe.
Actually, I was hoping the Cubs would show interest in Jose. That seemed to make sense to me. I don't know that we'd get anything worthwhile from them. Any speculation on what we'd get on the receiving end of such a deal? Besides, getting screwed, I mean.
And I don't even want to talk to Texas about Buehrle.
