    ugh... Rage. Corporate whores.

    No cds for me lately, but I love me some Sirius. Great music stations.

    Expand on the corporate whores.

    Unless of course you're going to b**** about their politically driven music. Which was De La Rocha's goal for the band in the first place. Politically motivated music fueled by heavy beats and lyrics.

  2. QUOTE(shipps @ Jan 22, 2007 -> 01:10 PM)
    I heard that Rage is getting back together for the first time since their breakup but are they going to make an album ?

    I was just about to post something on that, they're reuniting for Coachella, and many think that this will spark a full on tour from them. Doubt a new album will come out though.

  3. I'm feeling like these guys are going to be packaged for a larger deal. But who knows, I don't like this initial deal if it's by itself, but if KW can combine these prospects in a trade for a superstar or something, like Tejada, then maybe I like it a bit more. So I'm going to wait on this a few days before I make judgements.

  4. Still rockin' to "Sam's Town" by the Killers.

    Honorable mentions by me:

    "The Loon" - Tapes 'n Tapes

    "In Bocca al Lupo" - Murder By Death

    "The Crane Wife" - The Decemberists

    "Nightcrawler" - Pete Yorn

    "First Impressions of Earth" - The Strokes

  5. I didn't see this posted anywhere, but I've seen this a few times and thought it was worth a post. It's not that terrible, and it was on NBC, but they use the word Dick quite a bit, so I don't know if it would be considered safe for work. Anyways, it's a Wham!-esque music video with Timberlake and Andy Samberg. Enjoy!

    Dave Matthews wears. They don't have "stage clothes".

    Waits to get brought up somewhere... :P

    My favorite album of the year, is Sam's Town by the Killers. Love it, and it's better than the two videos they put out off of that album.

  7. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 10:17 AM)
    IMHO, I think Notre Dame deserves the BCS bid because they'll draw and they're a pretty damn good team.

    Again, they haven't beaten anybody worth a damn in the NCAA. I understand that that's how their schedule shaped up, well, tough. That's how the cookie crumbles, and they just didn't play good enough competition to warrant a bid in my eyes. Although, my votes don't count though.

  8. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 01:06 AM)
    What point, exactly, are you trying to make? Are we supposed to pity them now because they like playing the same teams for most years? And by pity, I mean reward them with a BCS bid.

    I really don't follow CFB all too much, so I shouldn't say who gets a BCS bid and who doesn't. However, the schedule argument for Notre Dame is, well, dumb. "But they try to schedule hard" is a lame argument that makes no sense for why Notre Dame deserves a bid. The same goes for the argument stated in the quote.

    I don't care if you schedule thousands of years in advance. If it turns out weak, you still do not deserve a free pass.

    I think his point was that it's similar to a conference schedule, in that, they basically have to play these teams, and are actually only scheduling four or five other "non-conference" games. These four or five games fluctuate every year, similar to non-conference games for the other schools in D1.

    QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 11:09 AM)
    Charlie Weis may have been successful with the Patriots. But the fact remains that Ty Willingham, Bob Davie, or probably 50 NCAA coaches could have led the Irish to exactly the same record they have this year. In my mind, he hasn't done anything to set himself apart as a great NCAA coach yet.

    Plus he's an arrogant jag to reporters and the news media. And too damn whiny about where ND is ranked. Don't b**** Charlie, WIN!!! That's how you stay in the top 10, not by winning games in thrilling fashion and then hoping you get hyped by ESPN. Win games, smoke bad teams, and hell, when you play against Michigan and USC, try to compete with them!

    But honestly, what the hell should he care, he just signed an undeserved extension for 50 years.

    QUOTE(Wedge @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 05:16 PM)
    Wisconsin has a JV schedule, just like ND's. Actually, ND played 2 elite teams this year, Wisconsin played 1.

    ND would be 1-loss playing that schedule. Hell, maybe they'd catch a few breaks and even beat Michigan.

    I never brought Wisconsin into this. I'm not really impressed by them much either.

    QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 06:36 PM)
    But of course, you must find something to make fun of him for because his coaching skills are unprecedented.

    Really? As a head coach he's won what? As far as I'm concerned, Weis is on the same level as Wanny as a College coach.

  9. I'm so sick of ND and their b****ing about rankings. Because, you know what, for that JV schedule they play, they sure as hell should be able to win at least 9 games, and hell, for being ranked in the preseason top 5, they should at least be able to beat one of the two good teams they played. And instead, they got their asses kicked by Michigan and USC, and should be embarassed for even playing a close game against MSU. Voters are a disgrace for their blind love of all things ND. And I swear to god, if I hear how great of a coach Fat Boy is again, I'm going to set the entire College Gameday setup on fire next week.

  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 02:29 AM)
    Posted a few weeks back that I had just started to listen to Sams Town, well now I'm really starting to get into Bling and For Reasons Unknown and Sams Town from that CD.

    I'm glad someone else liked it on here haha. Has anyone heard the B-sides from Hot Fuss? They're rather good IMO.

  11. QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 07:43 AM)
    honestly could the killers have gone a more predictable way on this new album? "Hey, lets go bigger! Like U2!!!" ugh. I've always disliked em anyway since that song "it's indie rock and rol for me" or whatever. Suicide booth.

    I like that song and it was excellent live.

    But I agree with your assessment of pop music. The late 90's blew.

  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 06:34 AM)
    :lol:

    I forgot to mention When You Were Young, which is a good song as well. I think from what I've read on various messageboards it's an album you really need to listen to quite a few times before you start to appreciate it, but if you don't like it, then you're not going to listen to it again are you.

    Its true, it took me a few times to get to like it, but the reason I like the new album, is because its a bit different than Hot Fuss. Put it down for a few days, and listen up again, you're opinions might change like mine did.

  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 03:54 AM)
    IIRC, the sound in that room kinda sux.

    The sound in the Congress does suck, but the Killers put on a fantastic show. They really played with alot of energy and the stage set up was really really cool, it was like an old western ghost town, but with alot of high tech lights and stuff.

    The crowd there sucked though, alot of them were the trendy adults who brought their young children and sat down the whole show. Lames.

  14. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 11:09 PM)
    Before I got into them, I saw them open for The Decemberists a few years back at The Metro. Okkervil River was the worst show I had ever seen ... and then The Decemberists played.

    I really like the Decemberists...

  15. Similar to the one at the hotel, the airbag thingy that nearly knocked Ehren unconscious. Genius!

    EDIT: I totally forgot about Spike Jonze being the old woman who keeps "accidentally" flashing everyone, especially the little black kid selling t-shirts. He tells her, "Woman, yo titties is out!"

  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 12:21 PM)
    Make sense next time. First of all I said that he said he intended to hurt himself, secondly, 7 painkillers would not warrant a stomach pump, especially from a guy of his size.

    Yes, I have seen that happen before.

    Uh, Rock, read a little bit pal, I agreed with your original post, I was commenting about the people claiming him as an attention whore and doing this to get people to feel bad for him.

  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 10:00 AM)
    They asked him if he was trying to harm himself, he said yes. I wouldnt believe a publicist if they told me the sky was blue.

    The report on yahoo said he took 5, and then attempted to take two more. I think it's horrible that some of you would consider this to be an attempt to grab attention, thats insane guys, faking an attempted suiced, please, this is hardly a joke.

  18. Ok, for you indie fans:

    I went to the Pygmalion Festival down here in Champaign and here were my favorite shows from the weekend-

    Geoff Reacher- Totally weird, looped some beats for himself while tearing up the acoustic guitar. Lyrics were twangy/country sounding but totally weird. Mixed in a little bit of the kinks "Lola" into his own little verse, really cool stuff by a rundown looking dude.

    Mad Science Fair- Played right after Reacher, nothing spectacular, just a fun show with some 60's fueled rock. The drummer looked like Michael Richards, even dressed like Kramer kind of. The highlight from them, an upbeat, rocking cover of Roy Orbison's "Crying." Before playing that the lead singer bet the audience that nobody would know it, so I had to let them know after the show and the guys laughed and I got a high five.

    Elf Power- Totally poppy, upbeat, frolick dancing music, I was a huge fan, their lyrics were unspectacular but totally fun. I recommend checkin them out.

    Murder By Death- Put on an absolutely sick show. My friend had the pleasure of buying us a round of shots with the lead singer/guitarist. They were really passionate and dark, and the cellist is gorgeous. :D

    Of Montreal- Strange, very sexual, and absolutely awesome. The headliners of the weekend didn't disappoint, they played some totally new stuff and had the whole place going crazy. The lead singer is very strange, with his multiple dress changes, at one point looking like a hooker, and at another point dressing like daisy duke. However, the music was good, and if you're open minded you'd find humor in the freakshow going on onstage.

    All in all, a great weekend for music, I was totally hooked.
