  1. Winthrop's performances against UNC in what was like a road game and at Wisky make me feel a little better about NIU's 10 point loss to them at home this weekend.
  2. Bulls to 8-9, and with this schedule for the next month....they could make some SERIOUS hay. And DBAHO is happy, Jameer Nelson hits a late 3 to win at Arco and pad their best record in the East.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) Just like they were going to get "exposed" against Arkansas? They would have lost that game if not for Reggie Fish. I couldn't have predicted the returner was going to field the ball at the 2 yard line. I'm still not sure how Florida made it this far, they could easily have 4 or 5 losses right now (South Carolina, Florida State, LSU, Arkansas).
  4. Young will be above average (a pro bowl, maybe 2, but a quality starting QB) but not great, and the other 2 will be pedestrian at best....so Young. But Young wasn't worthy of a 1st day pick, right Merrill Hoge??
  5. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) As for whitesoxfan101, I must be a moron because I believe Michigan is the 2nd best team in college. I can't wait to see Florida get beat up by Ohio State. Of course Florida will get beat up, but that's not what I said. What I said was Florida obviously deserves to go more and has a better resume from every angle except "quality loss" (and even their loss was really "good").
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) If hes so great, how come nobody else wanted him to be their star QB? Rex is the QB, he has more talent than Griese and is a team leader. Everyone needs to find another outlet for the b****ing about the NFC North Division Champion Chicago Bears. If you think this team can win a playoff game, let alone the Super Bowl, with Rex at QB.....your not watching the games. This quote really says it all to me: "Holding him to 34 [passing yards], 24 net, that's the type of game we should hold a quarterback like that to." —Vikings' safety Darren Sharper Although surprisingly candid, it's right.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) Unless Tom Brady becomes available via trade, we are better off with what we have. Griese is a back up QB in the NFL for a reason. He also had a higher QB rating in a lot of action for Denver in his career than JOHN ELWAY for a reason. He's not great, but he's the only hope if the Bears want any shot at Miami.
  8. FSU wins, and in what certainly isn't breaking news, Al Thornton of FSU is a beast. Something about FSU and these Sunday Night FSN games at home...they've beaten Duke twice with Duke in the top 5 in these games, tonight Florida in the top 5 goes down, there was another team they beat in this situation recently i'm forgetting (UNC maybe?) QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) And here comes the overrated chant. As a wise man once said....."gleefully chanting 'overrated' after defeating an opponent is like bragging after banging the ugliest girl at the party".
  9. Today wasn't all Rex's fault, as the moron that is Ron Turner was pathetic....but Rex was just as pathetic. And they are going to stick with Rex it seems like, so when they lose their first playoff game again, be depressed, but don't be surprised.
  10. With all due respect, considering: 1. We don't know if tOSU is better than Florida, we saw on the field that tOSU is better than Michigan already. 2. Florida has a better resume and played a tougher schedule. 3. Michigan didn't even win their own conference. If you think Michigan should be #2, well your a moron. USC coulda had a legit beef if they had won yesterday and finished behind Florida (same goes for Florida had they finished behind USC), but we already know Ohio State is better than Michigan, who doesn't have nearly the quality wins of Florida or even USC, and didn't win their league. Also, Notre Dame is going to get destroyed by LSU in what will be a road game in New Orleans basically. It's an embarassment they are in a BCS game, but they'll get theirs at least.
  11. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) Contested 25-27 footers? You realize that's two to 4 feet behind the 3-point line, right? Yeah I do, he hit 2 of them in a row at one point during the 3rd, and got fouled on a 3rd one.
  12. Kobe with 30 points in the 3rd tonight, and with 52 after 3 quarters. I guess he's back, he hit 11 shots in a row in the 3rd and was 19 for 25 from the field through 3. Just unreal, and a lot of the shots were contested 25 to 27 footers, doing this against the 13-3 Jazz.
  13. My only comment from last night is that's a really nice win for Purdue, and with their studly class coming in next fall and Matt Painter as coach, they are really a program on the rise. Sampson is going to have a hard time beating them for the top Indiana players as time goes on IMO.
  14. Iowa fans, of all schools, have mastered the art of charging the field/court for no reason. But hey, there are a lot of reasons I hate that state and that's one of them. And UNC/Ohio State was one of the worst 2 team displays of defense I've ever seen in my entire life, but the offensive talent on those teams will carry them to the final 4 anyways. Scorers all over the place. QUOTE(danman31 @ Nov 29, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) Oregon just beat Georgetown 57-50 on the road. Impressive win for the Ducks who are still undefeated. G'Town meanwhile was way overrated preseason. G'Town is being stupid. That Princeton system is designed to shorten the game, have long possesions, and keep you in it. Georgetown however, has A TON of talent, so they should be doing the complete opposite to try and turn the game into a talent contest. However I give Oregon credit, they have a ton of big time recruits on that team and this year, are finally figuring out how to play.
  15. Yeah Hilton Magic exists, Jimbo's descrption is perfect, it is the "Bermuda Triangle" of college athletics. I've never seen anything like the stuff that happens in that place, and I don't know of a venue in sports that compares. In other news, I want to see a Frazier/Jamar/Carter/Pruitt/Carlwell lineup while Randle is gone more than once. I think Illinois would be surprised at the results. The fact that Carlwell had 8 points, 4 rebounds, a very nice assist, and only played ELEVEN MINUTES against a team that only played one man taller than 6'8 last night is inexcuseable. Plus, I think Carter can play the 3 in the motion since, when run properly, it has minimal dribbling. Although if Randle had played, he'd have stopped that nonsense with Vasquez in the 2nd half and Illinois wins anyways IMO, but that excuse doesn't hold water since Ibekwe was out too, which leveled the field. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Nov 29, 2006 -> 10:35 AM) It was nice to see Craig Moore actually hitting a few 3's. He can shoot, but he generally seems to force them too much and go well beyond his range, resulting in a lot of misses. If he can do that a little more consistently (not necessarily go 7-10 from out there, but at least a consistent 3-7 or so) maybe they won't be quite as terrible as initially though... Carmody is an amazing coach. That team has nothing, and yet they are 4-2 with 2 decent wins so far. I like Kevin Coble though, he could be something IMO, and you have a nice class coming in next year recruitingwise.
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) That's what Demetri is for Demetri is not a scorer at all, he's a great distributor though. We need him and Jamar to get chemistry and play great, because beyond them, our guards are simply terrible by Big 10 standards (I look at Brock as more of a 3, although he's showing some things).
  17. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 08:13 PM) It's not like Mcbride had a decent game before that play, he was brutal the entire game. Grab some bench, he offers nothing Meacham doesn't have right now. Also, we got beat by a freshman tonight in the 2nd half at home, not good. And a mediocre freshman at that. And by the time this year ends, I'll hate McBride as much, if not more, than I did Nick Smith. What a waste of "talent". QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) "This team is better off without Dee and Augie" This team did not miss Augie tonight, the bigs were fine. The guards were pathetic though, they missed Dee's defense and that's it. He would have just bricked 3's all night like he did last year on offense, unless he had had the 1 lucky game like Michigan State was. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) He certainly did. He and Warren kept us in it in the first half...could have been real ugly if not for those 2. Frazier and Meacham also with poor shooting nights meant the bigs were the ones that had to do everything tonight. Frazier and Meacham are mid major guards that the Illini had to settle for due to the fact Bruce can't recruit a guard if his ass were on fire, outside of stumbling on Jamar. It was just so obvious tonight, although seeing the bigs, I have hope in regards to Weber and recruiting big men. But these guards are terrible.
  18. This Illini teams guards are a joke, thanks for that awesome recruiting job Bruce. This is going to be a long couple of years, outside of the cupcakes that Bruce will stack the OOC with. When you have 1 guard that can score points, your not going anywhere. To lose at home to freaking Maryland is an embarassment, and ugh I can't wait until Arizona beats the Illini by 20 Saturday.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 12:58 PM) Well that's the thing, people say those type of games are just lose/lose for the bcs conferences but that certainly isn't the case anymore with the Valley. We'll see if any of the BCS coaches start to man up and schedule some of the Valley teams, I still got a feeling that it aint happening anytime soon. I have the same feeling as you unfortunately, but it makes no sense. The Valley really isn't a mid major anymore since it's a minimum 3, more likely 4 bid league every year now. That simply doesn't fit the mid major bill, and with the high regards and rankings that Valley teams get (and deservedly so), the lose/lose excuse no longer flies at all.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) Last year, yes, he would have been, but last year was the worst imaginable year for almost everyone in our rotation. Next year, he could well be the 5th best. Well in this senario, we trade Freddy and he's better than B-Mac and Vasquez., so he's at least #4 right there. Then you ask about him vs. Garland, Buehrle, and Contreras. It's an interesting discussion.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) That'd be nice. I don't think Bruce will ever schedule us though, even though he said he's just waiting until all the players he recruited are gone. I hope he's telling the truth about part 2 of your statement (I've heard him say it too). I'd love to see SIU and Illinois play every year, and I mean after all, Bruce did start what led to what SIU is now. It's not even a lose/lose game for Illinois, since SIU is a borderline if not in top 25 team every year that makes the dance, so it would really be a quality win if you got it.
  22. Question: If acquired, would Ervin Santana instantly become our best starting pitcher? (keyword is best, not most accomplished) I say the answer is yes, which is why this trade is so intriguing. That and Ervin's age and the money it would save us.
  23. Yeah Tucker is a matchup nightmare. Reminds me a lot of a similar player also out of Joliet in Roger Powell, only Tucker gets more shots since the offense runs entirely through him and Chris Rock.
  24. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 10:56 AM) I like it. It gives you something to watch on a thurday night. Also, for the people that dont have the NFL network if it were their hometeam it more then likely would be aired anyway. Agreed on part 1, but the problem is part 2. Only the local TV market the team plays in can put the game on, so that means people in Milwaukee would miss the Packer games, people in the Rockford market would miss the Bears game, people in northern Indiana would miss the Colts games, and so on.
  25. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 05:00 AM) HELL of a win by the Magic in Utah tonight. Dwight Howard was Dwight Howard, and we continue to get excellent contributions from the likes of Arroyo off the bench. We should win in Portland, and if we can win 1 in Seattle, Los Angeles or Sacramento it'll be +.500 road trip in the West, which is well, extremely, extremely hard for an Eastern Conference team to do nowadays (unless you are real good). If Hill and Howard just stay healthy, you got the #2 seed in the East (maybe even #1, depending on what happens in the Central) on lockdown.
