  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 05:28 PM) Carroll got sent down after the game...so... Well we absolutely got some serious use out of Scott today, so thanks dude, that was helpful.
  2. Garcia with a weak GIDP to the right side.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) If they decide to bring in a lefty starting catcher next year, Soto would be the perfect platoon. Someone's going to give him a much bigger free agent offer than we want to think.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 04:34 PM) Wouldn't be the first time the starting pitching collapsed the last few months of the season. We pushed them so hard during the first 4 months of the year they've got a ready-made excuse.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) Between last night with DJ on the radio and Stone right there on TV, the Sox announcers are being openly critical of Avi's approach at the plate. A couple days ago someone suggested having him open up his stance. Sounds like a great idea to me. I still advocate 40 pushups every time he hits a ball to the right side. Worked for Willy Mays Hayes.
  6. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 04:04 PM) Two team options on a potential stud pitcher? That's fantastic. I can't tell whether this comment is describing Sale's contract or Quintana's contract.
  7. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 03:59 PM) It's really hard to tell. The only thing we know Hahn does is get contracts signed. Chris Sale's contract is a masterpiece. It's the best non-rookie contract in baseball by a TON. Jose Quintana's contract actually kinda disagrees.
  8. Assuming there's no incredible explosion, the White Sox will be 9-8 since the AS break.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 03:53 PM) Stop blaming KW. At least he was able to put together a winning team once. Rick Hahn has been pretty awful at his job. Great guy, great speaker, awful GM. Rick's the one who went out there on Friday and said "If we keep playing like this we'll be right there at the end".
  10. Ha, LaRoche takes the ball the opposite way for a single.
  11. The Yankees need to make their 3rd out and make this an official game.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) Looking at next year's roster, getting a legit RF and 3B should be step 1 and 1a They're not going to give up on Avi yet and we all know that. What they're going to do in the IF I have no idea. But since I think them picking up Alexei's option is a terrible idea, that's my best guess.
  13. How is Samardzija not being thrown out of this game? He threw two right at his legs.
  14. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) It's not just Kris Bryant. I don't think they drafted Bryant, anyway. It's Kris Bryant, it's turning Shark into Addison Russell. Their minor leagues are just so stacked. The move you can call impressive for me is getting a guy like Arrieta and turning him into something valuable. Turning Samardzija into the #7 prospect in baseball (IIRC that's where BA had him slotted)? easy move. Stealing Rizzo from San Diego? Easy move. And yes, they drafted Bryant, after the Astros passed on him. They put themselves in a position where mostly they were making fairly easy decisions. Some of them have even backfired - Castro extension for example. It's like us getting Rodon. Easy move. Schwarber...if he keeps hitting like this, much more impressive move.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) No reason in the world for Samardzija to still be in. Let Carroll mop this up. He'll still throw 110+. Because that's what we do.
  16. Mercy that ball was demolished. 7-0 Yanks.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 03:34 PM) Can we just steal the Cubs scouts? How hard is it to "Draft Kris Bryant"? (No one who works for the Astros is allowed to answer this question).
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 03:29 PM) Hahn and company better be ready to spend this offseason, as there's not enough in the pipeline the next two years to make this team competitive enough to be a legit contender. If they bring Alexei back, their roster will cost them ~$120 million before they make any moves. Thats an increase from this year already baked in.
  19. In this heat the offense still has a chance to come back, but even the players look dejected. Alexei's just staring at the ground.
  20. 6-0 Yankees. Samardzija gives up 5 this inning.
