Can the Sox finally win on national TV?
-
I can't wait until the BoSox manager smacks down all of this arrogant talk and stacks the staff with AL East hurlers.
Really, guys. Focus on the real games ahead, not on an exhibition weeks away. We're not safely in first by a long shot.
-
Hand a Nobel Prize to those BoSox for finally proving that Glendon Rusch is human.
-
The umpire who called Everett out was once attacked by fans at US Cellular Field.
I might attack him next time he's over here.
-
This isn't even a contest. There's no way this rotation will accomplish anything close to what the 83 guys did.
-
That is a name I have not heard in a long time.
I don't know if he ever posted here, but at the old mlb.com White Sox forums, there was a poster named Ncorgbl who claimed to be a partial owner of the team. He always defended Thomas and Valentin, no matter what they did, and seemed to have a grudge against a lot of guys, especially Bartolo Colon and Tony Graffanino.

Uh, guys, if we lose 4.5 games on the Twins, we'll probably lose a similar number of games on the Rangers, Red Sox, and others. So we'd be closer to 3-2 up for the WC.
Don't get too cocky. It's division or sitting out of the playoffs for us; we're not going to be able to beat the other WC contenders.

The only thing I want it to rain at Wrigley this weekend is David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez homers, Jonny Damon triples, and Bill Mueller singles.
-
Finally the Diamondbacks are useful.
-
This means very little. We have the best record in baseball and are only 4 games up, and that will probably be 3.5 games after today, assuming the Twins play.
How unlucky is that?
-
Is that 2001 game the 7-3 win I'm thinking of? The one with the Carlos Lee slam.

I'm looking forward to seeing Ozuna play at Coors.

Thing is, if the Cubs end up in the postseason and Prior and Wood are healthy in body and mind, the Cubs are a lock for the World Series title. That's not what I call pleasing, and it'd be just enough to ruin a first-place finish by the Sox.
So, yes, there is a reason to worry about them.

Last year, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays had like a 9 game winning streak.
And I have a lot of trouble thinking that people will be coming back from the DL and not going back there pretty fast. And even if they do...Kerry Wood will not perform any better than Sergio Mitre did today. Right now, all of the Cubs replacement pitchers are holding it together. That is luck. Even if they get people back, they won't be a better team than they are now. (Unless Prior comes back healthy)
The Devil Rays were not tied for the WC after their 9 game winning streak.
Given how weak the NL seems right now, and with all those teams beating up on each other in the East, the Cubs are the wildcard favorite. Amazing that this can still happen after their start.

The dream is dead. No Polanco for us.

Farmer, of course, said that before Timo was put at 1B.

The Cubs, sadly, are a contending team now. And they're about to get a ton better as people get off the DL.

Sounds like a guy who just went on a rip despite playing most of his career at a higher level. The fact that somebody posted that he doesn't have a heater also disheartens me.
Sounds like a sure-fire failure to me. The minors will still be useless for us.
-
If I were Ozzie, I'd stick Timo at SS briefly during a blowout game or send him in to pitch. Move him around as a sort of running gag.

True, they've won on FOX, but never on ESPN.
Anyway, there may be no game at all. 70% chance of rain tonight...look what's coming straight for us:
