Paul O'Neill's comments
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) "I think we compete real good on the road." Would be nice if he could get the team to 'compete real good' at home.

Out of town games
I wasn't going to start a new thread but the other one might get ugly. So who's going to an out of town Sox game this year and which game/date? I will be at Texas on 08/29. Supposedly Pods' first game back. PM me if you are going and want to meet up at the game.

Seattle Games of Aug 27-28
Didn't want to start a separate thread but wanted to throw out that I am going to the 8/29 game at Ameriquest Field. Anyone else going to that game? Pods is slated to return to that game if I'm not mistaken.

Maybe it's just me....
QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) we must be the only team that could not hit Chacon hard since he joined the yankees. It just seems like an excuse with every pitcher we face these days. "What did you expect our guys to do against ? He has been on fire lately. We faced a pitcher who is on a roll."

Playoff Revelation
QUOTE(palesox38 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Up until today, I wanted the sox to play the Angels in the first round, but now I realize it would be much better if we faced Oakland. Think about it, if we beat them, can you imagine what it would do for the teams confidence in the ALCS? They would feel like they could beat anyone and maybe run away with the pennant. Even though they are in such a slump, I couldn't help but think about what could happen if we face the A's. Plus, by then I think the offense will be okay with Podsednik back in the lineup. Also, the playoffs are so different from the regular season that it really doesn't matter who faces who. I read an article the other day saying how (I can't remember the specific teams) there was a team in the 90's who went 1-10 against a division foe, but in the first round they beat up on them. so anyway, all I'm saying is maybe Oakland is just what the Sox need in the first round. Since when did we clinch a playoff spot? I guess it's also time to start talking about which one of our pitchers gets the CY Young and what our starting rotation will be in round one. Might as well talk about Ozzie's Manager of the Year Award. Sorry...I'm just way too frustrated and disgusted at this team to be thinking about playoff matchups. There is no guarantee that we will even make it....no matter what all the optimists say on this board. It's not even September yet and our lead is already down to 8.5 games.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) Did you just say...the curse of the GAMBINO?!?! what is this, the Sopranos? I think it should be Bambino. LMAO!! Good call. See what happens when you're angry.

Remember the good old days?
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) I'm saying this in all seriousness, but has a 9 game lead ever seemed so small in baseball? Don't forget to edit this to "8.5 game lead" in a few hours.

Remember the good old days?
When we used to talk about homefield advantage throughout the playoffs...we talked about which one of our amazing starters would get the Cy Young...what our starting rotation would be for the playoffs...Ozzie getting Manager of the Year...Kenny getting executive of the year....etc Seems like so long ago. Almost like it was a different season.

Players who cleared waivers
Don't worry everyone. I'm sure Kenny is cooking up a big deal while swinging his club at the golf course.

What this team needs
This team needs a spark. If Kenny isn't going to bring anyone in then play Anderson, call up Gload or Borchard....do something for crying out loud cuz this s*** ain't working.

GRRRRINDERBALL v. Yankees 8/20/05 Game Thread!
Why is everyone so down? We still have a 9 game lead for another few hours (it will be 8.5 by the end of the night). We still have the best record in baseball...I mean the AL (for a few more days).

I'll be at the Jake tomorrow to see what the Sox used to play like earlier in the year. Good pitching and timely hitting.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) Exactly, if some of the players on the team showed the heart that Duque has today, maybe we would score more than a run. He's been the MVP of the 2nd half IMO.

QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) Why can't we play Anderson in the outfield and sit Perez? He seemed to swing a fat stick in the Minnesota game. He couldn't possibly do worse than Timo. Because Anderson is not perfoming fellatio on Ozzie.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) I know tomorrow I'll be bored to sleep. The game will be over before my seat is even warm. The Yankees could have Bernie Willaims pitch tomorrow and we would struggle to get one run.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) How are the fans at the game not booing like crazy? I don't know but I mentioned last weekend that I had no interest in going to the Wednesday game (Buehrle vs Santana) and I was right. What a s***ty game that was. I have no interest in going to any more games right now. They absolutely suck at home.

This is the last game I watch/listen to until they go on a 3 game winning streak. That might be a while. Guess I'll spend my time preparing for my fantasy football draft.
