  1. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) I can agree that the press needs to get the hell of the story. But I would say that about 90% of us made some stupid ass choices when we were 17 and 18 and 19 years old. Fortunately, most of us learned from it and didn't die. But we just as easily could have. Did you ever get in a car when some one has been drinking? EVER? Two different points being made in the thread. The attention by the media is BS. But I think we should refrain from judging HER. I totally agree. What she did was stupid, and it's sad she doesn't get a mulligan. But I also have beef with the media who probably 'live' for this kind of story. If they need to report something, or update on something NEW, go ahead. I just get sick of them playing the emotion card.
  2. QUOTE(Benson&Rexage @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) Jose Contreas is a stunt double for Billy Ocean in his action videos. Thats why he throws 11111 pitches each innning Don't really care for the music, but they helped me get plenty of trim during my high school days.
  3. QUOTE(winodj @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) Maybe he had "U Cant Touch This" stuck in his head.... you know... "Stop, Hammertime?" Good thing I'm reading and laughing about this at work and not at home! Otherwise their may be a sequel. :rolly
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) Just a heads up for now to people...Ozzie is slated to host This Week in Baseball next weekend, according to the preview at the end of this week's show. I haven't a clue when it's on in Chicago (probably right before Saturday baseball on Fox), but it's on at 12:30 p.m. PST out here in LA. Cool, I usually don't watch TWIB, but I'll make an exception on this one.
  5. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Somebody posted this at WSI but since the subject is taboo over there I figured I put it up here for discussion. (BTW, you have to watch a little commercial before you get to read the article) You'll never seen anything like this in the Cubune. ONCE THE YEARS PANS OUT OUR AVERAGE WILL BE MUCH HIGHER. I WENT TO SEVERAL GAMES IN APRIL, AND EVEN ON HALF PRICE NIGHT THE ATTENDANCE WAS USUALLY UNDER 22,000. WITH THE SELLOUT CROWDS WE'RE HAVING NOW THE AVERAGE WILL GO UP. Sorry about the caps, I was told it means I'm screaming. Newbie says sorry.
  6. QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:58 AM) I posted a few weeks ago that I'm tired of watching the home run-fests at the Cell. I love the stadium to death, but the configuration just doesn't fit the type of team we are anymore. And I just read the post-game quotes from Garcia, which made me think of it. I really hope they move the fences or home plate to make the dimensions a little longer next year. We need to play to our strengths, not to mention entice pitchers to come here (and our own pitchers to stay!) We cannot become Coors Field East (assuming we aren't already). "Ninety percent of us play better on the road. I don't know why. I count myself. I pitch good on the road, and I don't know why. I try to get that out of my mind and pitch better here," said Garcia (11-5), who is 2-4 at home and 9-1 on the road. "It's weird when you go on the road and play better. Maybe when you're on the road and you're more relaxed and you take it easier." -- Or maybe you're not pitching in a band box where every pop fly goes out... Sorry, just venting. Guys, this team is built for Busch stadium as it was in the 80's. Think of all the triples we'd be getting not to mention runners moving from 1st to 3rd on a single. But as every has already mentioned this is the ballpark we're stuck with. There's definitely no room to move the fences back, and I don't think they'd remove seats to move home plate.

    Freddy

I was at Friday nights game and Freddy never seemed comfortable on the mound. He did a lot of walking around the mound, shaking off pitches etc. I read somewhere he was pitching against a good friend... maybe that had something to do with it, or maybe it was that nice wind blowing out?
