QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) Which begs the question, what would make a player want to play in Ames? Now, i have no idea. A few years ago, they could have some kick ass keg parties with Eustachy.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) I think you have enough s*** at Kansas to keep you occupied for a while. No we just had a great late night, hosted a ton of recruitd, hosted a Bulls v. Sonics game and got off the hook for the most part from the NCAA.

QUOTE(TaylorStSox @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) Retract what? So they had 1 blue chipper and some 4 stars. Minus 1 player, that doesn't look much different than the Illini's roster right now, in a down year. I dont think you get the point, Florida won it all and is recruiting strong. This year they have 3 of the top 100 coming into school. 2007, they have the number 3 pg, and 3 in top 50. Illinois makes the finals, and their classes suck each year since. Stop drinking the illini kool-aid, the freshman last year were pretty average as well.

QUOTE(TaylorStSox @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) Illinois basketball will survive without Eric Gordon. The 05 team had 0 five star recruits. I believe in Coach Weber's ability to win games. Recruiting doesn't win games. How many blue chippers were on LSU and Florida? Thomas was a 3 star for christ sakes. The internet has overblown recruiting in the worst way. Take KU, for example. That team's loaded with talent but, they're absolutely garbage. They're so bad, it's frustrating to watch. You seem real intelligent with your knowledge of sports...haha.

WELL DONE KU Athletics....KU doing a great job, Lawrence loves the BUlls.

QUOTE(shipps @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 02:12 AM) I agree with you.I think we might be putting too much scouting in Asia and lacking in latin america. After watching the world baseball classic i wonder if we can smuggle some of those cubans onto our team. they are humans, not ounces of cocaine.... -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) lol, without Roy, you would have much less TRADITION, TRADITION, TRADITION. Without Roy you wouldn't have Bill Self wanting the job. Normally I try to ignore this stuff, but enough is enough, give it up already. Its Kansas, its a top 3 job in the nation....Roy got us in a huge huge pickle and weazled out and now we are losing a few recruits. Oh well This is THE YEAR. KU and UNC will always be a family tree gone wrong... Jayhawks in the NBA from late night http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7573799154293320606 -

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 03:48 PM) Yeah, most likely...but there's still a good number of DePaul faithful... I hope they are, but if they are smart they will sell their tickets to the flock.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Agreed. Some of the losses were bad, but we also had one of the toughest schedules in the country, and we lost to some quality teams that may not be very hyped (Bradley and Bucknell). There were also some very good wins last season that give hope for this season. Can't wait for this season. I like Coach Wainwright's scheduling as he doesn't fill up on cupcakes... They would not be hyped if it were not for us.

All top recruits should just verbal illinois, great way to drive up your recognition around the nation. Great news, top ranked PF Greg Monroe just listed KU as final 3...sweet

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) Nobody is allowed to defend Weber's recruiting now btw, he officially sucks. He also is on a 3 year clock to prove he can win with marginal recruits, or else he needs to be canned. god i love whitesoxfan101, he is my fav. Two years removed from a national championship game and your highest recruit is #59 in the nation, when you should be pulling in Sherron Collins. KU loses to sisters of the poor two years in a rwo and still pulls out recruits from Weber's backyard. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) Well I'm going back on my previous post. If Warren Carter counts as top 100 so do Jackson, Brock, and Tisdale for Weber since they have all appeared on top 100 lists. top 100, that is so SIU of you...haha The decision did not surprise Weber. At this point, nothing was going to surprise him. Disappoint him? Yes, of course, severely so. And it had to hurt. thats a shock
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) Brown was from Maywood. Its a suburb of Chicagoland. And Weber got Carlwell from the same school. Self did a great job getting Deron out of Texas and getting Dee. His other recruiting wins at Illinois were nothing special (unless you count Villanueva who didn't sign a LOI). Randle and McBride were from central Illinois, Illinois was the biggest school on their lists and they likely would have been Illini no matter what. Head wasn't a top 100 recruit. Blandon Ferguson was awful. Spears was a late decommit. Kyle Wilson wasn't top 100. Augustine was between Illinois and Purdue. Warren Carter wasn't a top 100 recruit. Weber needs to change his recruiting philosophy I agree, but Self was no recruiting god at Illinois. that or top recruits just dont want to play for illinois. Self did damn good for what it's worth.

Still kind of sad that he could not get scheyer, hell his brother was his coach. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) There's a difference though, Kruger was able to get guys like Brian Cook, Sergia McClain, and Frank Williams that were in-state. Plus he got Corey Bradford who was a promising recruit from out of state. Weber's recruiting class pretty much depended on Gordon and it fell through big. last year's class sucked also.
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) Julian Wright (who would've gone here if Self stayed), Luther Head, Aaron Spears(who was #75 recruit), Dee Brown to name a few. Also, Self never went after Dockey. It was mainly DePaul, Duke, and Michigan State. Thompson was always set on Duke because he's one of those guys who always wanted to play for Coach K. James Augustine is from the Chicagoland area. You could say he lost Rick Cornett, Shannon Brown, and Dameon Mason, but he was also recruiting guys like Charlie Villanueva. These are guys that Weber is losing to teams like Depaul. Julian Wright = Golden GOD
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) Chicago hasn't been friendly to Illinois since Deon Thomas. Kruger couldn't recruit Chicago for s***, and Self didn't do well in Chicago either till he left Illinois. Tell me if im wrong but wasnt Dee Brown a chicagoland dude. It is a known fact that Coaches don't like weber and he is kept out of the "circle". good luck getting assistants.
