Which relievers are you referring to? The only pure ones on that list are Hamilton & Johnson.
Burdi too. And the Just Missed included Burr, Frare, Thompson.

I’m going to guess these will be the guys in the 16 to 30 range:
- RH Pitcher (6): Ian Hamilton, Tyler Johnson, Jordan Stephens, Jimmy Lambert, Jonathon Stiever, Spencer Adams
- LH Pitcher (3): Kodi Medeiros, Konner Pilkington, Bernardo Flores
- Corner Infield (2): Gavin Sheets, Bryce Bush
- Middle Infield (3): Laz Rivera, Luis Curbelo, Lenyn Sosa
- Catcher (1): Seby Zavala
Well, he nailed it.

Part two of our Rankings series gives you the prospects ranked 16th through 30th with capsules about each. What are everyone's thoughts on these rankings? Anyone you'd put differently?
(full list comes out tomorrow)

Does Comas make top 30?
Last year I would have hoped many more from 2016 class made this list. Production from INTL classes continues to elude this franchise.
No, he's not in the 30. On the radar, but not a rankable guy yet in our view.

Did Romy Gonzalez get considered for the just missed? He was one of the many bats that impressed in Great Falls. I find him very interesting because he was a 3b in college and is now a CF who seems to have some power. When I saw him, he made consistent hard contact.
He was not among those seriously considered. He's on my radar personally, based on scouting reports from collegiate leagues and his power potential, but he's not TOp 30 material (at least not right now anyway). The numbers in Great Falls are more of a "that's what I would expect" thing, especially in the PIO.

Wigginton let them down again. That’s two games.
That dead period where KU went on a run mid-second-half was a killer. And yeah some of those late shots too.

Hey @NorthSideSox72 don't forget to tune in tonight. ISU still matches up well with Kansas.
I plan to!

Rodon, Fulmer, all the talk about moving Moncada to bring in Madrigal, they don't do it every time (Eloy) but it's still happening regularly.
Rodon and Fulmer were pretty clear picks at that level. Also Rodon was pre-Hostetler. and the Fulmer draft was specifically Nick running it from AFTER Fulmer. So not at all, really. And in fact the Madrigal pick specifically shows you they are all about BPA, considering they had an elite young talent there already. Every case you just brought up illustrates that it is not a thing anymore for the Sox (with again, Burdi being arguably the one exception).

Drafting Vaughn because they can rush him upwards at a position of need seems so White Sox that I struggle to imagine them doing anything else.
This is really the opposite of true. What you are saying is what they would have done pre-Hostetler. Since Nick took over they've really tracked away from this. One exception is Burdi, who was 1-supp (a slot some teams like to do funky things with) and was still a solid pick at that range.

NSS72, what are your feelings about drafting a guy like Vaughn if the Sox have several options for the same position?
I think you should almost never take MLB need into account in the draft. I'm a solidly BPA guy, at least in the first 15 rounds or so. Then for the next 20 rounds you can start filling in depth and roster holes, but that's more about gaps in the system as a whole, not the MLB club.

The "growing into power" thing is harder to believe for me from a college hitter that was a power hitter in college, and had his drought not in birmingham but in one of our friendliest power environments.
But it's not that he can't do it, it's that I now think it's much less likely than prior to last year. He certainly could find that motion that taps into his power, but he hasn't shown it yet and so it's hard for me to say "he's definitely our 1b of the future" especially when we are already collecting what hopefully will be plus bats that may not have great positional defense.
Oh I'm not saying he's defintely THE GUY. Not at all. Just that I wouldn't dismiss the *possibility* yet either.

I'm pessimistic on sheets. When you look at even average 1b, they often came up in minors as something else, and they freakin destroy the minors.
The idea that he'll hit enough to justify it is unlikely to me after last year, and he's not evan white with the glove. Someone of Palka/Collins/Burger/FA/trade will be our 1b of future.
Thing is, Sheets pretty much did destroy MiLB pitching in 2018, save for literally one thing - home runs. He hit for a high average, got on base a lot, and was a plus defender.
On the home runs, the raw is definitely there. He could be like Thome in that (AND ONLY IN THAT) he could be a strong guy who hits for average and doesn't add the power until he gets to the upper levels.

Burger, Sheets, Collins, or one of our outfielders could end up there.
My guess is Eloy ends up there in a few years.
58 minutes ago, Cashman said:Collins is going to get the 1st crack at it, it might be this year with catcher sprinkled in there around June/July.
Collins had a hard time in AA last year, on both sides of the ball. I think the chances of him being in the majors in 2019 are extremely slim. The smart move is for him to repeat at AA, then go to AAA once he gets better dialed-in, and allow him more time to potentially still be a catcher.

Really dubious about the 27% K-rate in AA. That needs major improvement if he's going to make it to the top.
And yes, I'm obsessed with K-rate. The most glowing thing about Eloy, out of all the glowing things, is his 15% K-rate at AAA. That will play in the bigs. 27%, which will increase as he continues to rise, will not.
27% isn't as scary as it used to be, but it is high. That said, dude was 21 years old making him 3 years younger than league average. And he pairs that with high walk rates, so he clearly has some zone control. It's something to watch out for but I don't think it is a huge deal at this stage for him.

I've never been so annoyed by a team that knocks off #8 on the road but what the hell
I understand they are a young team, and only really put the full roster together a few weeks ago, but how do they lose at home to a weakened KSU team and then go beat TT on the road?

Fascinating stuff. But in the end, this has no effect on the Sox' chances either way. All noise.

Did they end up extending with Kanny? I remember there being some confusion about whether or not that deal extended through 19 or 20 If they haven't, it's something to monitor for the next few seasons.
It was 2020. FutureSox (myself, really) made a mistake. Baseball America had it as 2018, and then a Hahn quote seemed to echo that, but as it turns out Hahn misheard my question when I interviewed him. BA didn't know because the Intimidators didn't bother to tell anyone they extended.

As part of the site's off-season transformation, FutureSox is looking to bolster their affiliate coverage by seeking out additional local folks to act as correspondents. This could be at any of the affiliates (Charlotte, Birmingham, Winston-Salem, Kannapolis, Great Falls, AZL/Glendale/Phoenix, and I suppose Boca Chica too). Content could include stories, photos, videos, interviews or whatever you can provide that is truly local content - in other words, not something you can get out of just reading the box score.
If interested, reach out to @Clint Cole via DM here or email FutureSox at gmail, and more details can be provided. Thanks!

Disagree strongly on middle infield. Madrigal at the top, plus Sosa, Rivera, Curbelo etc. below, on a team that already has Anderson and Moncada? Not a problem area. Maybe even a strength.
Agree on corner infield though.
