  1. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) I will be surprised if the Tigers and Twins keep up this pace. The Tigers have a tough stretch in August/ early September and I think the Sox will rebound to make this a tight Division race in September. Also, there is still a lot of head to head play left. Sox games left vs Det 10, vs Min 9 (19) Twins games left vs Sox 9, vs Det 10 (19) Tigers games left vs Sox 10, vs Min 10 (20) I heard this in May. I heard it in June. I heard it in July. Face facts, will ya. The Tigers havent only kept the pace, theyve gotten hotter. While everyone has heard about the Twins amazing 34-9 run, whats overlooked is that Detroit over that time frame is 32-11. Now theyve beaten the pitcher most people thought was unbeatable. I heard all week how Miner vs. Liriano was unwinnable for Detroit. Chicago fans fear him and Santana. Well Detroit beat Santana 2-0 and beat Liriano 3-2, with 9 of his 25 earned runs this season coming against Detroit. Give a good baseball team its due.
  2. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) Yes, this loss is disappointing. Yes, I would've felt better with a sweep. Everyone is so hung up on this division bulls***, christ do you realize that we are 6 up on the WC? I know Sox fans are not accustomed to looking at that, and it's not something we should settle for. Luckily we won't have to eventually. f*** the Tigers. Once they get off of their minor league schedule, we'll see what they are really made of. They have a brutal July after the all-star break. I wouldn't be surprised to see them take a 5 game losing streak somewhere in there. The difference between the Sox and the Tigers is that the Sox beat the good teams. I seriously will take action on the Tigers/Pirates series. The Sox schedule has been easier to date then Detroits. And is more brutal than Detroits in July. Detroit has 2 in Pittsburgh and 4 at home to KC. Chicago has the Yankees and Red Sox. The series between the teams is in Detroit and, unless you are still buying into the fact that Detroit is not good, could be the most difficult of all.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 10:55 AM) In their last 20 games the Sox and Twins are 17-3, while Detroit is 16-4. We talked before about who would be getting more stressed about the other team being hot between the Sox and Tigers, but how must it feel to be the Minnesota Twins today. They have gone 17-3 in their last 20 games and gained exactly zero games in their push for the playoffs. Your numbers are wrong. Tigers 17-3, Sox 15-5, Twins 17-3. The Sox, despite a 9 game winning streak, have lost two games in the standings to both Detroit and Minnesota. Kinda disheartening isnt it?
  4. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) I'm looking forward to playing the Tigers again in July.
  5. QUOTE(TheHolyBovine @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) I'll worry about the Tigers when they are leading the AL Central deep into August. Until then, they're a cute story. You are the same guy that said Ill wait to see how they are doing in June, arent ya? They arent going away Sox fans. In fact they look to be picking up the pace.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 11:04 PM) The Tigers are a very good team and won't fold. Heck, in fact I think they will win the Wild Card.....however if they plan on winning the Central they are going to have to win 100 games, and I would be shocked if they are capable of doing that. And hey if they do, we'll see them in the ALCS (and that's possible too). Well they are half way there with 87 still to play. 50-37 puts them at 100. Conversely, the Sox also have to win 100, something they didnt do last year.
  7. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 10:59 PM) I agree the tigers are much improved and will hang, but they havent faired well against the sox which will come back to haunt them This is true and there are a ton of games left between them. These two teams are pushing each other. And thats just as good for the Sox as it is for the Tigers. In the meantime the NL Central is the AL Centrals b****.
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) And the White Sox are still a much better team than the Tigers. Once the Tigers start playing real baseball teams again, they'll lose. They are just great at beating bad teams, so I give them that. Youre in denial. And in for a fight. All season.
  9. QUOTE(hi8is @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) we will once again have soul posession of first place. today marks the take off of the 2006 UNSTOPABLE WHITE SOX and the start of the FALL OF DETRIOT! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/hi8is/dietigers.jpg ^^Go here for hi8is' tiger picture......little gruesome Its called destiny. You guys should know a bit about it.

  11. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 02:58 AM) Wow how stoned is this guy... has he even seen the Tigers schedule... Our schedule has rough compared with theirs... Then again I guess we haven't faced the great Yankees and Red Sox yet... How exactly has the White Sox schedule been rough compared to Detroits? From my prospective Chicago and Detroit have played similar schedules except the Sox have yet to face two of the best teams in the league. Home games vs. road games is the same. Here is the breakdown: TB- Det. 3, Chi. 3 Tor- Det. 3, Chi 6 KC- Det 8, Chi 9 Tex- Det 4, Chi 7 Cle- Det 10, Chi 10 Oak- Det 3, Chi 3 Sea- Det 3, Chi 5 LAA- Det 5, Chi 5 Cubs- Det 1, Chi 3 Min- Det 9, Chi 7 Balt- Det 2, Chi 0 Cin- Det 3, Chi 1 NYY- Det 4, Chi 0 Bos- Det 3, Chi 0 I see Detroit playing 7 games against the 2 best teams in the east and Chicago has yet to play them. Detroits played 2 more against Minnesota and the Sox 1 more against the worst team in baseball and 2 more against that western powerhouse, Seattle. Detroit has 3 down against Cincinnatti to the Sox 1, while the Sox have 3 against the Cubs to Detroits 1. The schedules are pretty much similar except for the glaring fact that Chicago has yet to play any games against 2 of the best teams in baseball. So quit with the homer bulls***. I bet after 162 games youd still be spouting how Detroits schedule was easier when in reality Chicagos had the easier go of it already in this season. Detroits for real. They arent going away. Wheres the June swoon you all forcasted? Has it been delayed until July or August? Has the pitching come to earth like you all said it would? Come back to reality. The Sox are in for a dog fight all season. And I dont think thier bullpen is up to the task.
  12. QUOTE(G&T @ May 29, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) I'll echo these sentiments by saying that I won't care about the Tigers until after the ASB. It's rare that a total fluke team makes it to 20 games over. However, the White Sox have enough issues to work out before they can care about the Tigers, so that's where my attention will be. I will say this, the Tigers will have a cold month or so just as the Sox did, and when it happens I doubt they will have a 15 game cushion to keep them afloat. How is this a total fluke team? In 2003 the Tigers started a AAA team that consisted of alot of the core guys on the team this year. Few of them were ready to play in the majors and thier record proved it. In 2004 they added Pudge and Guillen and improved by 20+ games. The youngsters had made some strides and they were getting better at the basics. At the start of the 2005 season most prognosticators had the Tigers pegged at or near .500 with the addition of Magglio and Guillens sudden rise during the 2004 season. Guillen and Magglio were both injured for mosat of the season. Even when they played they were hurt. Magglios hernia had him swinging with his arms only and Guillens knee was a mess. The Tigers struggled without thier two best hitters but were near .500 until the last month of the season. At that time they collapsed. The losing took its toll on the veterans, most notably Pudge, and coupled with his divorce turned the clubhouse to s***. Still without the injuries this team would have been close to .500. This season everyone underestimated the Tigers preseason because of the awful finish last year. But Magglio and Guillen arent hurt this year. The two kids brought up in midseason last year, Shelton and Granderson, are legitimate big league position players. And they brought in a crafty pitcher whos work ethic and knowledge of how to pitch has rubbed off on a couple young pitchers who have finally figured out how to get big league hitters out in thier 3rd and 4th years. Add this years rookie of the year Verlander and Zumaya who has hit 103 mph and you have the makings of a title contender. You guys can keep deluding yourself all you want that Detroit is a flash in the pan. They arent. They are absolutely for real. If your team is as delusional as some of you seem to be, comparing this Tigers team to an Orioles team that couldnt pitch, your in for a rude awakening come October.
  13. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 27, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) Come back when they play a .500 team or greater, and beat them up. Then we'll talk. Lets talk now. Im tired of people telling me the Tigers are not for real because they have played few games against teams with winning records. Consider this: Clevelands overall record: 24-25 Against Detroit: 3-7 vs. the rest of baseball: 21-18 Twins overall record: 23-26 Against Detroit: 2-7 vs the rest of baseball: 21-19 The only reason Minnesota and the Tribe are not over .500 this season is because Detroit has kicked thier asses. This overloaded divisonal schedule has skewed everyones SOS numbers. Its utter nonsense to even attempt to explain away Detroit using this logic. Let me expand on this a bit. If Detroit was the usual horrible team that everyone in baseball had become accustomed to and the numbers were reversed the Twinsand Clevelands records would both be 28-21.
