  1. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) Its funny two months ago everybody was hitting except BA I'd be happy if the situation were reversed back to earlier in the season.
  2. QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) I hate this feeling. It's like September 2005 all over again with that sick feeling in your stomach. Except the Sox aren't leading the division.
  3. People on this team who are fishing spiff: Javy Widger Ozzie
  4. At least the damage was limited. Widger needs to be DFA right now. As in, he doesn't get to play the next inning.
  5. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) I stand corrected.
  6. The offense is sucking, but at least the pitching is keeping Detriot from doing anything.
  7. The count seems to have forgotten how to throw a strike in the 6th inning.
  8. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) Is Craig Monroe batting this inning. I'm pretty sure he flied out to deep center last inning.
  9. So how many LOB so far? How many LOB in scoring position?
  10. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) i hope we can keep this humor up...lets get some f'in geico runs. Oh, I didn't realize we were joking
  11. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) Mack would have dove forward while the ball is flying over his head. With Mack playing, that's a inside-the-park HR on a spiff throw after he completely misreads the ball off the bat.
  12. RISP with no outs, can't plate the run. 6 hits, 1 run.
  13. they just had 94 year old O'Neil in a minor league game. think carlton fisk could come back?
  14. At least contreares is rolling nicely along. Pitch count around 40, I believe.
  15. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) Someone please, give me a reason that Chris Widger is on this team. Who else will replace our AS catcher during key series?
  16. Well, forget that thought. Widger is the spiffiest spiff since spiff came to spiff-town.
  17. If widge gets a hti here I'll stop complaining about him for at least a week.
  18. QUOTE(Allsox @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) Folks, Widger is the BACKUP catcher, AJ can't start every game! Every team in the majors has the same setup as the Sox do so this shouldn't continue to be something to get angry about nor to be fixed so enuff of the ragging! And Ozuna grounds into a double play. Way to go, Pablo AJ (along with the rest of the STARTING lineup) should be starting every game in a HUGE series.
  19. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) Anyone else question why ozzie is going with the bench team, while leyland has his starters in?? I've given up questioning Ozzie's "interesting" lineup decisions. I think Ozzie is right with his comments as of late; great players make great managers. Last year, the pitching staff was just dominate and the team pulled through to make Ozzie's seemingly senseless move look brilliant. This year, the team isn't playing as well and Ozzie's style is being exposed.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:02 PM) Productive Out. Productive in the sense that he didn't GIDP. Sadly, that's the most I can hope for with Widger. Good thing we're sitting Anderson and his ice-cold bat and shoddy defense for the stud that is Mackowiak so often. Anderson proving he's useless right here.
  21. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 09:47 AM) It amazes me the conversations that happen in here about Ozzie's use of subs. Yeah, I'd say Anderson should see a little more time, now that he is hitting. But as we saw last year, and are seeing this year, one of the reasons Ozzie's teams do so well is that he gives his guys some rest AND gives his bench enough playing time to be good. And yet, people seem to so easily forget that, and then blame a loss on the fact that Mack or Cintron or Ozuna are in the lineup. I mean, those guys are all good hitters anyway. But besides that, in case no one noticed, that hasn't been our problem. Starting pitching, starting pitching and starting pitching are the problem. And as for pulling Javy after 4 or 5 innings as soon as he gives up a hit... I can't believe people would consider that. If Vazquez can't ever last 6 innings, and/or can't survive an inning once he gives up a run, then he shouldn't be starting at all. Thats at least a logical argument to make. But until he is traded or replaced, he needs to be treated like a starter, or he'll never get any better. to having a long term perspective! We all know the Vazquez likes to catastrophically implode when something doesn't go his way. Surely Ozzie knows it too. So what does he do? He backs up Vaz with Mackowiak, aka Mr. Bad Jump, and Cintron, who, while decent, isn't exactly a defensive stud. If you know your pitcher needs A+ defense behind him, why take out two of your best defensive options?
