8/13- Sox/Astros Doubleheader, 3:40
Well look at the bright side, someone made a 43 yard field goal in Chicago last week.

Castillo working on a comedy routine? Is this performance serious?

A catcher who can't can't can't be your catcher.

He should only play during a double header or if James is in the bathroom with diarrhea. Otherwise, I don't want to see this clod again, two passed balls, two runs, is he shaving points?

Ok Mr. Pessimism. LOL. One walk was intentional and you have to admit it was a tough strike zone today. I certainly think he is still a work in progress. There has not been a single game this year where he commanded all 3 of his main pitches. It seems either the fastball or curveball is "off". Still, almost nothing hit hard (other that 3 balls Id say) against a big boy lineup isn't bad work to build on.

I thought he made some good pitches to Marisnick, but overall I totally agree with you. No need to push his innings limit in a lost season. Get him some quality innings, much needed growth and experience in preparation for next year. It absolutely makes no sense than Dylan is ever asked to pitch to 100 or more pitches in any game this year. I hated it previously when Ricky did it and still do hate it. He will have plenty of chances to go 100-110 pitches.

Tough day, but solid work for Dylan considering the poor call and shoddy umping. Step in the right direction.

Garbage umpiring all damn day. Cease needs to throw it inside a playing card while Zach has 2 inches off the plate. I despise inconsistent umpiring.

Zach got Eloy back, pretty nasty sequence of pitches there. He's also getting a better K-zone than Cease in my view. Nothing close has gone for Dylan.

I agree, but Ricky has been pushing him to 100+, would not totally shock me to see him out in the 7th.

Dylan losing command here. Gotta reign it back in and not worry about the BS call.

Duh! My bad. I'd rather have had him with our young guy and let Castillo play with Nova.

What happened to our All Star catcher?

Damnit. Runners at corners with 2 out. Gotta bare down.

Oh you get no arguments from me. I love watching him work, its great to watch someone who has a clue on the mound. I was glad Houston made that trade as I want them to win it over NY, Boston, Cle, or Minny. I'd be fine with TB or Oakland winning the ALCS, but doubt either can.

Good synopsis of him.

Dylan Cease "pitching to contact". Nothing hit hard since that 2nd homer. Solid effort so far from the kid. Really was worried how he'd handle this lineup. Gotta give him high marks today.

He's a superior fielder no doubt. The guy is just a great baseball player. No it's not "breath taking" to watch him pitch, but I grew up in the old school where it wasn't just about velo and strike outs. I am a big fan of him, because he shows there is more to pitching than just raw gas. Though gas is fun.

Mediocre is being nice. Grienke is close to being a junk baller at this point in his career, which makes him all the more impressive in my view. Dude just knows how to pitch, though Eloy is all over him today for sure.

I hear what you are saying, but I think it's too early. Sounds like you think his ceiling is low. I want to see more before I come to that conclusion.

Ok I wasn't sure how well he was playing in CF. I am guessing Robert is our CF of the future and yes if S.W. can only hit 12-15 homers a year using him on a corner probably won't work unless his average is really high and he steals. I know he's a former college guy, but he could still develop that power. I am not ready to cash the chips on him yet. I am more optimistic in him than Rutherford, though Rutherford seems to have picked it up in AA of late so maybe he also is in the mix.

You already have come to that conclusion on Walker? Any reason? Was promoted to A+ (yea I know still a ways away) and is showing a solid hit tool with very low strikeout rates. The power isn't there yet, but he's flashing some speed and playing CF. I think there is potential there. I do agree about Sheets.

Not overly in love with this umpire at this time.
