  1. During commercial... Dead here anyway... Glad Bears got the win. Didn't really deserve it though.
  2. QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Are you allowed to take the batter's box without a bat? I'd take my chances on this guy throwing 4 balls before 3 strikes. I want to see it.
  3. This isn't Ozzie's fault. Sheesh.
  4. I like Rios' play & his attitude that he wishes he'd gotten the catch.
  5. Have Cooper evaluate him. Flying him to Cleveland wouldn't cost much. If he thinks it's worth a chance for a bit of brief relief, go for it. That couldn't cost much either. I think our AAA bullpen help hasn't been as bad as it could've been. Last night's blown save was from our stated closer who, over the last few days, has been asked to expand his role.
  6. Let's carry this to its logical extreme, just as a mind exercise. I am absolutely not minimizing the horrors of the soon-to-be mentioned individual to the completely-trivial-in-comparison level of cheating or quitting in a sport-as-entertainment. I am absolutely not raising the cheating/quitting transgressions to any higher level than to use them as evidence of, or lack thereof, a certain moral fiber that I would like to see in the sporting events I choose to watch as entertainment. If Hitler could hit the ball like Babe Ruth, would you be in favor of him being the DH for the White Sox? For those who say they'd not, yet are in favor of Manny doing so, where is the line of differentiation?
  7. I don't disagree with the strategy, but the execution didn't go as I'd hoped.
  8. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 07:18 PM) Bears may not win 5 games this year Can't count on beating the Lions.
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) I made the original comment, but it was saying that Jackson is a POTM candidate, and that basically says how dominant he has been with us. I forgot to highlight the part I was referring to, so some people thought I was saying POTM award makes him an ace, when I was referring to him being dominant. It was a misunderstanding from the get-go. You're certainly right about the POTM numbers for EJ.
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 07:02 PM) I think Rios thought the wall was closer, and may have messed up his shoulder a little. I thought that too. Hope not.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) I must have missed where someone said Gavin Floyd was an ace...? No, someone said the somebody or another was pitcher of the month and inferred that indicated ace-hood sort of. Then somebody said it didn't. I offered GF as an example of it not. (Sorry, with the game as it is and my general laziness, I don't feel like going back to look it up. Anyway, it's all good... other than the score... And Danks' performance... and bullpen injuries... And our designated "hitters"...)
  12. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 06:50 PM) I see 9-10. Pitcher o' the month, then... Not much after that. My point, and the conversation at the time----> not an ace. 9-10 isn't really an ace's numbers.
  13. Now, Peña can pitch the rest. We can save the Knights' bullpen for tomorrow.
  14. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 06:45 PM) Guillen likes Pena a whole bunch Yes, he does. Don't understand. I think he liked Williams for a while, too.
  15. QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 06:43 PM) 6 runs have come with 2 outs for NY. Lovely. Another Ryan on here. Never noticed.
  16. Unfortunately, we're not far enough behind to just hang Peña out there for the duration. Now, unless they score more here, we get to trash the whole pen.
