Bruce Levine reports....
I agree about Batista. But he was "grand" with AZ. If they wanted him over Garland in a deal for RJ, fine by me take him. I'd rather keep Garland anyway

Bruce Levine reports....
With the Tor deal, then either Crede or Hinske could go to MIL as part of a deal for Podsednik

Bruce Levine reports....
Batista did well in AZ before he left via free agency. And they didn't seem to want Garland w/ PK for RJ. Move C. Lee for Hinske and Batista, move Batista and Pk for RJ?

Lee to Tor. for Hinske, Batista?
Batista fits in the 5th spot, which could mean Garland is on the move. Or Batista goes back to AZ for Vazquez or RJ?

Bruce Levine reports....
Could a Tor. deal happen to coincide w/ a larger deal involving RJ or Vazquez? Makes some sense. Then Batista could be moved instead of Garland. Was he on the AZ "top ten" list of SP's they'd want?

Lee to Tor. for Hinske, Batista?
the salaries are basically a wash, with Batista due to make $4.75 mill and Hinske $3 mill in 2005. Unless Batista would be the 5th starter, locked up before Garland would be traded...[Or Batista moved to another team---he wasn't on AZ's "top ten list" was he?] PK and Batista

Clement?
It sounds like a team other than the Sox. The sox have jumped into deals.

Lee to Tor. for Hinske, Batista?
Hinske is signed through 2007 and will make $3 mill in 05, $4.33 mill in 06 and $5.63 mill in 2007 Batista is signed for 2 yrs and will make $4.75 mill in 05 and 06.

Lee to Tor. for Hinske, Batista?
http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...tacodalogin=yes I'm not sure what to think. Yet Tor. wouldn't get Crede as well, with them on the verge of signing Corey Koskie. I could see Crede being moved to MIL for Podsednik though. They're looking for RH power. And both are in the same underachieving boat. Interesting to say the least

Lee for Podsednik/Ginter?
It sounds like the MIL writer is projecting who they'd like from the sox, as the sox have shown interest in Podsednik. They want a power hitting corner OF, and Lee is their choice, not the Sox. Throwing in Ginter wouldn't add much either. What seems certain is the giants and the sox have shown interest in Podsednik, which is smart for the sox, IMO. Would any sox players fit for them, that the sox could do w/o? Everett, whose $4 mill contract seems like a bargain. A straight swap might be enough. Another option could be Borchard, a proven bullpen arm [as Kolb is gone] like Jon Adkins and a prospect. Lee could be moved. But for far more than what MIL has or seems willing to give up

Nero Says Johnson never turned down the Sox
I think the Angels would have a good pkg to offer AZ, of young pitching and position players like Casey Kotchman. With the added payroll in Glaus, and Ortiz, they should get cheap guys who can play in 2005. Ana. has a lot of talented guys like that. Garland and Pk would help them more for 2005. But an ana. deal would help Az more for the future.

Nero Says Johnson never turned down the Sox
I forgot about Brown. No team will take him on [the yanks were trying to give him away], and he has a no trade clause. the Yanks may deal with us for RJ, yet it doesn't sound like they could work out a deal w/ AZ by themselves BTW--I do like the "wright failed his physical" report. sounds like the yanks wanted to void his contract, when they got Pavano.
-
Nero Says Johnson never turned down the Sox
I think the sox could work out a deal for RJ w/o the yanks. Ariz. can't afford him with their recent FA signings, Glaus, and Ortiz. Ariz's options are very limited and will have to make a move. The Yanks don't seem like they will deal with Ariz directly now. The really don't, with Wright, Pavano, Mussina, Vazquez, and ? locked up. But I think it could be question of would the sox keep RJ and his $16 mill salary [with it being likely another $16 mill in 2006]. Or trade RJ to the yanks for Vazquez, cash [like $10 million to get Vazquez's salary down to $8.17 mill a yr over 3 yrs, and maybe a guy like Brad Halsey. I'm not sure what the answer is. Yet the sox getting RJ sounds very possible.

Nero Says Johnson never turned down the Sox
From the sounds of it, the Yanks are out of getting RJ straight from AZ. Yet would probably make a deal with the sox for him. My guess is the Sox would want Vazquez, cash, + a SP prospect like Brad Halsey or a bullpen guy Felix Rodriguez. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/12/sports/b...&pagewanted=all

Rumors thread
If the Sox had any chance to get Castillo or Pierre, they'd have to take on a bad contract. Encarnacion and Gonzalez both come to mind. But getting either alone isn't a good idea

Sox Shopping Carlos Lee?
No problem. Good to hear your opinion and your insights. I think we'll all know soon enough if Lee is traded or not.

Rumors thread
I kind of agree. Edwin Jackson had a horrible yr in AAA. A 5.86 ERA, in 90 2/3 IP, 55 BB's and 70 K's. BMac had a combined era of 3.00, in 180 IP, 202 k's, 30 BB's. Both are only 21. Though Cora is better than Harris, the sox with a Bmac/ Harris deal isn't bad

Sox Shopping Carlos Lee?
First off, Jackie, I've never had a problem w/ anyone on these boards. I [almost] always treat other posters w/ respect even when I disagree with them. I try to conduct myself here the way I do in "real life". I'm no better or worse than anyone else around here. Usually baseball talk doesn't get heated enough to generate anger for me anyway. I haven't been around here long but long enough to know that people take things personally. It's usually a result of the medium. We can only express ourselves w/ typed words, and our opinions/views don't always come out the way we want to. Things get taken out of context, we leave out things that would make our opinions and views clearer. Secondly, I must have written something that offended you. Why else would you go to such lengths to try and "prove me wrong". If I did, I'm sorry. If you've got a question, ask me to clarify. We both have opinions. No more no less. Yet all I ask is to do it respectfully, w/o calling me out and cursing at me thirdly, when people want to rehash old posts, old discussions, it's usually w/ a purpose of cleaning up "unfinished business". Nothing good usually comes from it. Just like this Peace

Sox Shopping Carlos Lee?
man, someone soiled their diaper. Ask mommy to change it for you and read you a bedtime story. Or have her read my past posts explaining my views. If If I have to rehash every post to you, sorry. But don't waste my time because you can't read

Rumors thread
That could make sense. The sox get Vazquez and prob. cash, the salaries are a wash. The sox could keep Pk, or wait to trade him to a team that doesn't get Delgado, or Sexton for a good price. [the mets might be a decent team. Maybe Kaz Matsui--the leadoff hitter and SS, move Uribe to 2b: and maybe a SP from AA Yusmiro [sp?] Petit. He's a young venezuelan who has lights out stats that rival B-macs for K/ BB.

Sox Shopping Carlos Lee?
I said a "winner" was hard to define. Saying I "refused" to define it is stupid though. Learn how to read more than one post. I laid out a pretty good explanation [over a few posts] that you can either agree with or not. And if you don't want to take my words seriously then don't. I won't lose sleep over it.

Sox Shopping Carlos Lee?
No it wasn't. Go back and look it up if you want.

Sox Shopping Carlos Lee?
I was by Carlos on the left field line. If I recall, aaron had a better view [and he had his glove over his face at least]
-
Sox Shopping Carlos Lee?
I've not said that because Lee's value is high as the only reason the sox should trade him. Personality is fine. But I'd rather have winners

Sox Shopping Carlos Lee?
I'm not too old school that I don't know how to laugh a little on the field. But my point is, I don't know if Lee is the type of player to build a team around. His talent says, yes. But his head..... FWIW--Magglio was pissed. Rowand wasn't laughing either.
