  1. QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 09:33 AM) I heard from a VERY reliable source that he's more like 75-76. He actually pitched in the big leagues for a while before Castro took over Cuba. Contreras is 40 years old tops. Probably more likely to be 1-2 years over his stated age of 35. It's obvious his mechanics are all messed up due to the back injury. Either it's something (like Crede) that will never go away completely or he's favoring it as to not get injured again.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 02:38 PM) Jerry Owens is not a prospect. He is a career minor leaguer. He can't hit at the major league level, and he has proven that already. It pisses me off that they will not bring up Sweeney. They need to DFA Scott Notoolnik and Darin Grinderstad, and bring up Sweeney and Anderson.(they can wait until Anderson is healthy to DFA Grinderstad) You could just as well taken out Jerry Owens and put in Brian Anderson. I'd take (a healthy) Erstad or Podsednik over Anderson and his crappy attitude/effort any day of the week.
  3. I'd go for a Rowand for MacDougal (and a Sox prospect not named Fields, Sweeney or Broadway) trade. Erstad and Pods can platoon in LF if and when they're back at full strength. Maybe we could move Anderson in this deal, but I'd think the Sox don't want to give up on him yet. Borchard got three chances before he was dealt and B.A.'s really only gotten one. Maybe the Sox can give "pink" Floyd back to Philly.
