QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) Per ESPN via imaginary radio. heh yeah and I still think Figgins should be in the deal somehow

I was just over WSI and some guy posted that his friend heard this on ESPN Radio I just say wow, and would have to let it sink it to get my true feelings about it but from first looks I think i like it, though idk if that leadoff spot was taken care of. Rodriguez isnt ready i dont think either.

If that trade went through I would have to ask everyone to take their Fire Kenny slogans out of their sigs heh. Getting Figgins, Santana, and Kendrick? That would just be too good. Chisoxfn has pretty much put everything into perspective and I agree with every thing you say this would be great. On the comment about putting Richar in minors to learn SS possibly, what about A-Ram, would we have him be put in minors to be groomed for SS too aswell as CF? Figgins is 30 on Jan 22, and I do not know when he becomes a free agent(maybe 09?) but if this trade goes through the only position that would see a change following this season or in the middle of this season would be Short. What excitement!

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) Was Kendrick injured last season? yes he had many hand/finger problems throughout the season. Late April to May 22 he was placed on the DL for a non-displaced fracture at the base of the middle finger on his left hand. Then for most of July starting from the 8th to August 19 he had a MRI that revealed a small fracture in his left index finger.

QUOTE(Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 03:19 AM) All in all, I think Crede for Willits straight up is probably the most logical trade with the Angels. Exploring another trade route with Paulie for pitching prospects would make a lot of sense too. How about Texas, Toronto, San Francisco, or even Boston? I agree with most of what you said in your last post because I said some of the same arguments, but on this last part. Crede for Willits sure lets do it. Paulie to Texas would net us what Eric Hurley and some other players, also I believe Konerko has a semi trade clause and I am sure he would use it to veto any trade to Toronto, San Fran has nothing pretty besides Lincecum, and Boston, why would they want or even need Konerko. They have Lowell, Youkilis, Ortiz. The one team that would intrigue me would be the Mariners, but I doubt they could play Ichiro and Konerko and every other overpayed guy they have on that team, but they do have some nice prospects And the only reason Kendrick is in any of these talks is because he was rumored as was Santana and Figgins so we should not really shut down peoples comments with Kendrick in it. The guy is amazing, if we get him then we will truly look as say we got a deal for Konerko, if we do not get him then we will know why because he is a great player for the Angel organization.

QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 11:45 PM) I hated that Swisher guy when he was on the A's just like I hated AJ when he was on the Twins. I think we are going to love this guy. I agree with that. He looks like hes going to be a fun player to watch play. We need a Josh Fields fan club too, I dont know if there is one, if there is I want to join

QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 11:51 PM) I can't see the Sox wanting anything to do with Matthews Jr. unless the Angels insist on his inclusion to unload his salary and baggage. How about Crede/Konerko for Kendrick/Matthews/Santana. I loves me some hot stove. I have to agree I am loving some hot stove reports which have been set up by this Swisher trade, but 103mph you went from saying Crede & Konerko for Figgins and Kendrick to Crede & Konerko for Kendrick/Santana/Matthews. On the first one Figgins and Kendrick I would love it, but to see a name like Santana be thrown around and end up not getting him I would be a bit upset. Santana would be a great add to this rotation, but 1. I would feel bad for the Angels actually giving up Figgins and Kendrick to get Crede and Konerko in return heh so I do not see that deal happening. Also with getting Kendrick what are you telling Richar and Alexei Ramirez(if you are getting Figgins too). Tell Richar and Ram to wait for OCab to get injured/traded at the deadline and battle it out at short(a position both have not have too much experience at I believe) and then we have Figgins, who turns 30 this month still quite young in some standards, who would be our starting center. So now Owens is a 4th OF coming off the bench(fine role for him in my mind) for Q or Dye late in an inning and then just have Richar come off the bench and hope that Ramirez develops SS in the minors? In the other speculation trade I would take it for what it is but would hate to have to take Gary Matthews who has a 4 years left on a 5 year contract making 10 or 11 mil a year. Would we just let Owens and Matthews play it out in spring training for Center have Owens win center and let a unhappy 10 mil contract player who would be hard to trade by himself sit on the bench, or let him play Center, Owens backup, Ramirez in the wing(at either CF or SS and let owens take CF) and have no leadoff man. Personally I think in this trade its a must to have Santana just because I could see Santana taking over for Conteras(let's hope) or if Floyd struggles(as I am banking that Danks will be fine). I only say that though because of the woes I believe we have in the rotation. Kendrick is a prized player that I would love to get, but a trade in which we receive Santana, Figgins, _____ whatever you want to throw in the third spot would be fine with me. Give Richar a chance at second, let Figgins fix our problems at center, and leadoff and proceed from there knowing we have a potentially good cuban in the minors getting groomed.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 10:28 PM) But Joe Crede and Juan Uribe are still with this team. What is the point of trading PK and not either of them? A salary dump? Is Crede, Fields or Swisher moving to 1B? Something tells me this is all mlbtradeRUMORS and just that. Lets hope its not Crede that would go to first, already horrible back, but now we would have to worry about him making a stretch to make sure our infielders can be saved on some bad throws .. heh This might be all mlbtraderumors talk, but like I said before I think it would be a great trade and I would be on board with it

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 05:16 PM) Oakland has what would be our top 5 prospects if they were still with us... Gio, DLS, Cunningham, Carter, and Sweeney... We should have held off on the two trades with Arizona and just made a mega deal with both Arizona and Oakland. That would of been fun. How about Gio, DLS, Carter, Sweeney, Cunningham for Haren and Swisher .. hahah .. if only and of course we would not have Richar, but I am sure we would abide

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) If Konerko is traded for a package of Figgins and Santana, I think I would be done with this team. Yeah well its still very raw obviously. I dont know what my thoughts on it would be because I would probably have to see it first heh, but I might be ok with something like Figgins, Santana, and a spec or something convincing. It instantly puts this team in another viewpoint, Swisher to first, Figgins brings a true centerfielder, speed, and a leadoff man. If we got Santana and Kendrick, which I think looks like it would not happen, I would not see the sense in that trade because Kendrick is definitely not a leadoff man unless someone can throw some stats up to show me wrong but from what I have seen he has only hit from the 6 to 9 slots and last season only had 5 stolen bases. That trade would just kick Richar out of a starting spot and have to ask someone like Owens to play center and leadoff for us and if he shows something in spring training that he could on that responsibility then more power to him

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 08:56 PM) This is just wrong... he looks like a stud .. heh Sweeney was one of my favorite players in the minors right with Fields. I always cheered for him when he came up, but yeah he just never performed how the Sox wanted him to and thats too bad. When I first heard about the trade I instantly hated it like probably most people did, but as I let it soak in last night I liked it because its easy to see it from the Sox view. The Sox seemed to think Sweeney, although only 22, should have been ready by now and that was stupid thinking, but with all the OF we have now I suppose he could be had and then you hear all the stuff about DLS being best suitable in the bullpen it made the trade a bit easier to take in. Gio on the other hand, yeah he looked like he could have been great shutting down as a #2 or #3 pitcher in the Sox rotation, but we are not talking about a Clayton Kershaw or a Johnny Cueto, I think we can recover from it.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 08:54 PM) He is. He has proven he is an average hitter at best who plays good D. Everyone in baseball sees he is an average player except many sox fans for some reason. Yeah. I have never really been a big fan of Crede and I can say that because I have always been a fan of the guy that is in my member name. I remember when Crede first came up and everyone got on him on how bad he was, I dont know if anyone else remembers, but from then I just was never a big Crede fan.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) Oye, looks like people we're reading it wrong. I didn't hear the comment, but I do know how the Score works. If during an update at the top/bottom of the hour Offman said "We'll hear from Kenny Williams at 1:00 on the Swisher trade". That means that during the 1PM update they'll play a clip from a press conference with his comments. Not that he will be on live answering questions. If the host of the show says Kenny will be on at 1:00, than yeah, he'll be on. yeah I was listening to it even though I really dont like the score right at 1 they did play the clip it was just him saying how the acquisition of Swisher would benefit this team .. obviously something expected out of him. and this is also my first post, glad I finally got validated and good to finally be on the site go sox
