  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 06:40 PM)
    Ouch, I forgot him. ok, second least productive. Andruw is just a terrible, terrible player now.

    Some of the CF's we could have:

    Player TEAM POS G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG

    1. T Hunter LAA OF 88 335 49 90 22 2 12 43 152 25 65 10 4 .329 .454 .269

    2. A Rowand SF OF 89 326 40 96 27 0 8 48 147 28 72 1 3 .363 .451 .294

    3. K Fukudome CHC OF 89 325 59 91 17 2 7 36 133 55 69 8 4 .384 .409 .280

    4. N Swisher CWS OF 91 311 53 73 15 1 12 41 126 53 74 1 2 .348 .405 .235

    Considering he has only hit in 1 month out of 3, and the contract/age he's got, I'll still take swish any day.

  2. While I'll agree its human nature, at some point you gotta sit back and look at what your typing. I have never once thought to myself that "this season is over" or "this team is dead" after a loss. Not even after the extended losing streaks, and honestly can't believe that people can watch every game (which I am assuming they do) and still b**** and moan like we're 15 games back.

  3. I am still in disbelief that a place filled with supposed "die hard fans" reacts this way after every damn loss. Why bother even watching the rest of the season if after every loss "the season is over". Stupid as hell.

    On another note, although i hate the RONJJJJJ, did anyone hear that awesome call last night? Some either drunk or mentally challenged person called in to complain about PK (what an original thought too). The drunk/retard was arguing that our team is so much better without PK and that he needs to go. Ronj then asked him how the other 8 guys in the lineup would have been better last night if BA or Wise was in the lineup rather than PK. The caller was flabergasted by this question and had no idea what that had to do with his call. I was laughing my ass of listening, and this is how i picture most of the people on this board after a loss.

  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 11:33 PM)
    blind faith. gotta love it.

    also goes the same way with blind hatred.

    I can't understand how some people react this way with every loss. Doesn't it give you ulcers or something? Christ, we could win 39 in a row, lose 1 and people would be calling for half the team to be traded and declare the season over. Ridiculous.

  5. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 11:23 PM)
    an o-fer with 4k's? Maybe Paulie should go back down to AAA for a bit longer until he gets his timing back

    and as far as o-cab dancing around on the bases dye should be thanking him for making the pitcher have to think about something else. that's the whole idea behind having fast baserunners, they distract the pitcher so that they hopefully throw bad pitches, this actually makes it easier for the batter. I remember when Pod's would get on base the first half of '05 it gave pitchers fits and it resulted in a lot of fat pitches for the batters following him

    he hit 6-11 in AAA, 1-3 yesterday with an RBI. You don't send him down after 1 bad game.

    And there's a difference between distracting the pitcher and distracting the hitter, which is what OC did to dye.

  6. I honestly wish CC woulda stayed in Clev. Now instead of facing him a few times a year (or only a couple more times anyway) we potentially have to face a stud every-day player. They are getting 6 players out of this deal, and 1 is bound to be a sox killer.

    Just like the Santana deal, I'd much rather face an Ace pitcher a few times a year than getting destroyed by the Carlos Gomez's 15 times a year

  7. the best part is that all the idiot Cubs fans voted those 2 clowns into the starting lineup. Instead of the 10+ other OF's that are better, they voted with their hearts and now can potentially lose HFA if they somehow stumble into the world series. (Although a guy with a .218 BA on the AL team is pretty disgusting)

  8. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 02:14 PM)
    in '04 the Red Sox won and in '05 we won....

    in '07 the Red Sox won and in '08...

    Does history repeat itself?

    That has been my quote since the minute the BoCrox won in '07.

    Its actually kind of weird:

    BO wins in 04, has a decent 05 but loses in the first round, bombs in 06, wins in 07.

    Chi wins in 05, has decent 06 but the division is ridiculous, bombs in 07, ____ in 08.

  9. The sox played like ass, then won a bunch of games, then lost a couple, etc. The Twins went 16-2. The sox are still 1 game up.

    The way I see it, the Twins cannot keep up that pace (and if they do, they will be the greatest baseball team in the history of the MLB) but the sox can keep up the moderate streaky pace they are at.

  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 4, 2008 -> 08:16 PM)
    That's a terrible reason....you play to win the game!

    explain to me how Alexi would have made 1 bit of difference in this game? They sucked ass in every part of the game today, doesn't matter

  11. QUOTE (TCQ @ Jul 4, 2008 -> 08:13 PM)
    Still not a good excuse and he claimed it wasnt to show him around, and trust me hes not helping his case by starting him.

    You really think a manager is going to say "Well we're trying to trade him, so I am letting the scouts see him." Alexi would have made 0 difference anyway, no point in getting worked up over it.

  12. QUOTE (TCQ @ Jul 4, 2008 -> 08:06 PM)
    WHy is this clown starting. I was listening to the pre game and they said that guillen wanted to give him another start because he feels bad that he has to play one game and then sit a while and he doesnt feel thats right. Well, we dont pay him to feel bad, ramirez needed to start tonight uribe was his pitiful self yet again. And glorious Uribe struck out to end the game. I know no one person loses a game but i just dont see why youd start a backup two days in a row for no reason.

    When you have teams looking to trade for him you start him. Not to mention I doubt Sexi would have hit a 7 run homer to end the game.

  13. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jul 4, 2008 -> 02:31 PM)
    I did not know Cincinnati was under a dictatorship. ;-)

    I disagree with that notion but it is a popular one. Propaganda is a powerful thing and do not think for one minute our government doesn't use it as much as those red dictators. We package it differently but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I respect our military personnel but I also respect a lot of other people who serve to protect our freedom and democracy who don't wield a gun. It seems they get far more recognition for their service than say Upton Sinclair or Jane Adams, who did quite a bit to protect our individual freedoms within our borders. The military strength of the US is not what makes this country so successful. In fact, when it is misused, which happens far more frequently than we are willing to admit, it helps detract from our strengths.

    I apologize for even bringing this up since I know there are strong views on all sides. I just wish we would recognize that the military is not the only reason we do not have a dictatorship. in fact, it is far down the list in my opinion. What makes this holiday special is something far more powerful than the military.

    The difference is Upton Sinclair or anyone else didn't put his life on the line in anything he did. The players can't wear "The Jungle" patches on their jerseys

  14. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 07:38 AM)
    Rooney's call was better. I'm so happy I taped the am1000 broadcast. I got the World Series dvds and all that, but it's the cassette recordings of the home call that give me the chills if I ever listen to them.

    anywhere/way to get them online

  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 11:51 PM)
    Never forget.

    AAGV187~2005-World-Series-Juan-Uribe-Cat

    Yep. Despite the fact that Juan's foul ball catch in the stands was 10000x better than Jeter's flop, we must keep his memory alive. :gosox1:
