Reed, no doubt. Minor League player of the year.

They call you lady luck
But there is room for doubt
At times you have a very un-ladylike way of running out
You're on this date with me
The pickings have been lush
And yet before this evening is over you might give me the brush
You might forget your manners
You might refuse to stay
And so the best that I can do is Pray
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck if you've ever been a lady to begin with
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck let a gentleman see
Just how nice you can be
I know the way you treated
Other guys you been with
Luck be a lady with me
A lady doesn't leave her escort
It isn't fair
And it's not nice
A lady doesn't wander all over the room
And blow on some other guy's dice
Let's keep this party alight
Never get out of my sight
Stick with me baby, I'm the fella you came in with
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck let a gentleman see
Just how nice
Just how nice a dame you can be
I seen the way you treated
Other guys you been with
Luck be a lady with me
A lady doesn't leave her escort
It isn't fair
And it's not nice
A lady doesn't wander all over the room
And blow on some other guy's dice
Let's get this party started right
Never get out of my sight
Stick with me baby I'm the fella you came in with
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck be a lady tonight
Oh, tonight
Oh, tonight
Ah, tonight
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
Doesn't Frank Sinatra sing that song?
But seriously, Neyer says the Royals should get a big bat, which might be true, but if i were them I think I'd rather pick up a Starter. Of course, if the Royals want to pick up a bat over an arm then that would be fine with me b/c we all know that good pitching beats good hitting(i.e. 2000- White Sox swept by Mariners). If they pick up another bat and end up making the playoffs, they still wont make it past the 1st round.
Frank Sinatra sings it from the musical Guys and Dolls. I only know that because my high school did the play.
Now that that is out of the way, I don't know of any good hitting catchers who could handle our staffs out there that are available. Jason Kendall would be it, and I would love to have him and Giles, but we aren't gonna pay for that I don't think. There just aren't that many good hitting catchers out there. At third base I think Crede could get hot again like he did at the end of last year, and that we should stick with him.
There's my two cents.

I don't care what he says, I'm just happy we got a K!

Sox Acquire Carlos Delgado or Sox Aquire Alex Rodriguez or Sosa hit by truck!

If we can't trade Konerko, and shouldn't trade Valentin who is tradable? I guess this could be at least partially based on who we are getting in return.

Hey all- I'm a U of I student, huge sox fan, and this is the first time I have ever posted here. July 1, 2003 was quite possibly the greatest day of my life, and I love these trades. I am a little worried now though. What does Kenny have up his sleeve to blow our socks off? There is obvioiusly a logjam at 1B/DH. Does that mean the Big Hurt is gone? It can't be. He's been my favorite player for years and I would hate to see him go. Does that leave Konerko or Daubach out to dry? I just hoped to get your thoughts. Personally I am rooting for the Valentin for Tejada trade, that would be SWEET.
Maggs-Nomar swapped, pending A-rod

What about that rumor that we already have a deal worked out where we sending pitching prospects to the Expos for Everett? I think that at the salary he signed for he's a steal, and definitely an Ozzie Guillen type player.
I must say the prospects of landing Nomar excite me. He is definitely a fan favorite and would fill some seats. I guess Maggs is too though. I'm just worried that he won't be happy here without the HUGE fan support out east or being at home out west. This deal would only cut payroll by a very small amount and would acquire a shortstop, so clearly we need to move Valentin, and hopefully can move Konerko too.
If all the stuff I mentioned happens, that would make our outfield Lee, Rowand, Everett and infield Crede, Nomar, Harris, Thomas/Other Acquisition. Personally, I say the number don't lie, play Thomas at first for at least 100 games, he'll hit better and as long as he doesn't have to throw, isn't the extreme defensive liability that he is made out to be. Then Olivo catching. That lineup can definitely compete in the AL Central.
Bottom line, if we are going to get rid of Maggs, let's make sure to get a superstar in return.
