  1. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:29 PM)
    I say we trade Marte, Crede and Timo to the Yanks for A-Rod and have them pay the balance of his salary.

    These trades are always the same ... our bad guys for the other teams' good guys.

    :lol:

    No kidding

  2. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 08:14 AM)
    St. Paul Pioneer Press columnist Charley Walters "Don't be surprised if the Chicago White Sox sign recently released Giants pitcher Jim Brower within a couple of days. The Atlanta Braves are among a half-dozen teams also interested in signing the former Gopher from Minnetonka."

    :headshake :puke

    Yikes..What are we, back to those crappy signing we did the last few years...Anyone remember Panigua?!?!

    Good thing this is squashed

  3. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:31 PM)
    i didn't get a chance to see any of the game last night. (i was forced to attend pirates-yankees). but i just noticed marte's line. what happened? any chance he took a bullet from a sniper on the way to the dugout?

    No sniper..I'm sure he's not 100% and don't be surprised to see him go on the DL this week. We need to get another healthy arm up here..pronto

  4. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:47 PM)
    Maybe I'm nuts, but I liked a lot of those ideas. His idea of the unexpected is probably the best thing the Sox can do to bring out fans.

    "Maybe unfurl a large canvas, with people painted on it, from the roof over Section 557, making it look like the seats were full.." that is an absolute brilliant idea if you ask me. It's funny and lighthearted and will certainly bring attention to the stadium and the team.

    Drag queens as rakers might be a bit extreme, but if you saw something that bizarre, wouldn't you get a kick out of it? It's these small things the White Sox don't offer that Veeck believes will bring fans to the park. Comiskey Park, while great to most of us here because we're all die hard baseball fans, is boring and dull to those that don't give a s*** about the game. Magicians, opera singers, ushertainers...these are all great ideas.

    I kinda like the couches in the upper deck idea... :D

  5. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 01:23 AM)
    No, Hermanson is unreliable right now because of numbers that have been posted atleast 3 times in this thread already(5 runs in his last 7 outings).  You call that reliable?

    Wow, this thread is pathetic..really Are we really that petty of fans? We're now hoping we can trade for a closer I think i read...Hermanson has been unreliable?!?!?

    Good grief..no wonder its hard for me to post alot here..My head is gonna explode from all the trivial, ridicules, jumping ship, world is gonna end, Ozzy is a moron crap and its getting pretty tired..I wonder what we would be saying if we were say5 games over .500 and in 2nd place..Or 2 games under...shutter

    My opinion...He just needs maybe 2 full days off..3 would be excellent and I guarantee he'll look lights out again... I just think he's been over worked alot the last 9 games or so..3 straight days here...one day off then another 2 straight games..one game off the 2 more straight games...

    Like I said, 2 or 3 games off should do wonders

    :headshake

    Its just hard to take anyone serious when you got to one extreme to another in a game or so. We have the best record in base, but Ozzy is a moron and we're stuck with him for another 3 years..Neal Cotts has been a bad relief pitcher and now all of a sudden we want him closing games for us...Hermanson has been one of the best closers in the AL this year and he's not getting 1-2-3 innings for us anymore and now we should trade for a closer now..Cause that ERA has ballooned almost to 2

    You can't start whining cause Hermanson hasn't been lights out the past 3 or 4 games he's pitched in a season of 162 games. That's ridicules..You're judging him for a week or less of games.Now how does that sound to you?

    Hey, i guess I'm a moron for trying to keep things in perspective rather then crying wolf through our so called 'Crisis' of Hermanson.

  7. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 09:45 PM)
    He is obviously being a wise ass on the heels of the flare up with Guillen.

    No kidding..This guy has been a wise ass to the Sox since spring training...And now with this thing with Ozzie, he's bumping it up to Moronotti territory..The guy is a dick.

  8. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 09:41 PM)
    Now that is the ugliest win anyone on our pitching staff has gotten all season.

    Then you haven't watched any of Hernendez's past starts this year, have you.. :bang

    Don't you remember that game he pitched against the TWins? He gave up like 10 hits..the Twins had the bases loaded like every inning and still only allowed like 2 runs..This is how he's pitched the whole year..Where's the shock!? :D

  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:04 AM)
    Ok.  If that's the case, and we traded away some big prospects in our organization and then resigned Garcia to a big money deal.....that's a huge risk for someone who's supposedly only been healthy enough for one season.

    True..also I also read this..

    Those around him insist Garcia's ear problems, in which the eardrums burst during team flights the same week near the end of the 2002 season, had to be affecting him no matter what he says.

    First, with two ruptured eardrums fixed last fall, he can hear what is going on around him.

    Those around him insist Garcia's ear problems, in which the eardrums burst during team flights the same week near the end of the 2002 season, had to be affecting him no matter what he says.

    They were bleeding, Mariners pitcher Joel Pineiro said, and he had bad headaches.

    "It had to affect his balance, his pitching, but he says no," Pineiro says.

    Garcia: "They gave me drops and told me I would be OK. I didn't think it was that bad, but yeah, I could feel it. Maybe it had something to do with me not pitching good sometimes.

    "But really I just thought it was me not pitching good. It pissed me off."

    Garcia, who did not get his ears fixed after the 2002 season as the Mariners' medical people had advised, got them fixed in Miami after the 2003 season, where he spent the offseason with Glendys and friend Ozzie Guillen and his wife.

    I don't know..but he bounced back amd was having a good year when they got him from the Mariners..and in my opinion it was worth the 2 guys we gave up..Basically we gave up Reed for Garcia and i can live with that..Olivio's done nothing this year..and i don't even see him on the active roster..is he on the DL?

  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:50 PM)
    Garcia started 33 games in 99, 20 in '00, 34 in 2001, 34 in 2002, and 33 in 2003.  Did I miss an injury or something?  He's never had any serious arm issues that would equate to him losing his fastball.

    I don't think he ever went on the DL, but he was pitching with a bad shoulder or something in 02 AND 03 AND TAHT'S WHY HIS ERA was so high.. 4.39 and 4.51 those 2 years

  11. QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:42 PM)
    Really? I don't remember Vic throwing 95 MPH fast balls last year...and I saw him a bunch when they played the Cubs..and he was never really a Fastball pitcher..He's always thrown that slider 70% of the time..I think he threw from92- 93 to a high 94 rarley..and who knows, maybe he was over used in Brew town

    And Cliff's velocity if consistently 94 to 96MPH THIS YEAR..why are you talking about last year..He's throwing hard this year.

    And Koch is a diff story..I don't know what happened to him and that's why he's out MLB..cause he sucks..

    Oh, and Freddy was was injured in what 02 and 03..His first full year was last year and maybe the injury took a mile or 2 from his fast ball...But is still pitching pretty good and has pitched pretty good the last 2 seasons..

    He was injured while with the Mariners, so it certainly wasn't our fault.

    It's not like he was throwing 95 in 04 then came to the sox and lost his velocity all of a sudden.

  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:35 PM)
    Viz was throwing 95 mph at times for Milwaukee last year.  Garcia used to be around 93-94 mph....now he's 90-91 mph.  Politte's velocity last year was consistently down from how hard he threw in his previous seasons.  Don't forget our buddy Koch.
