Right now he isn’t doing anything right. What really concerns me is when he was drafted he was thought to be very advanced, and selective. The first time I saw him bat in a spring training game, he only swung at strikes. He seemed destined to be a 90 plus a year walk guy, high OBP and big power. The two scouting reports I read were he was the second coming of Goldschmidt, and another said he was Konerko on steroids. He’s nor even Lamar Johnson on steroids.

Lamar could probably run slightly faster.

This is exactly what they should have done. It was obvious he was leaving.  Back up the truck and get what you can for him.

No one was going to give up much for a rental player of his caliber.  Hindsight  is easy.  They tried.

Anything is about all you are going to get for this stiff. But that's better than nothing given the circumstances and his production.

But there is only one naive organization I can think of to make that trade.  Unfortunately that trade can't happen since he is with the organization.

Half a season. He did not do well enough in Birmingham to earn a promotion IMO. He should still be there.

    Great another rushed prospect.

Let's hope so...maybe then the Sox can trade him for anything.

That's the definition of every Sox trade. There's too much anything in this organization.  I equate it as nothing.  We still have hopes of that lightning in a bottle.

Story says most employees will simply slide over to new company. Also talks about the issues the new RSN is going to have:

    https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports-media/2024/04/16/chicago-white-sox-bulls-blackhawks-stadium-nbc-sports-chicago-jerry-reinsdorf-diamond-sports-group-bally-sinclair-comcast-directv

Stadium’s biggest challenge in its efforts to convert to a regional sports network will be gaining carriage on providers such as Comcast and DirecTV. Stadium will know what it’s up against when Diamond Sports Group, which owns the Bally Sports-branded RSNs and is working through bankruptcy court, settles on distribution deals with those carriers. Talks are ongoing.

Comcast and DirecTV could place Diamond’s costly channels on a higher programming tier, which Comcast recently did with Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), home of MLB’s Orioles and Nationals. Such placement would limit Stadium’s penetration in the market.

I would think the trend is more households are viewing cable contracts these days.

Vaunted prospect with back injuries, powerful lefty, strikes out looking.

Looks like Yoan Moncada is back baby.

Might be another guy they mess up developing.  How long did he stay in AA?

No sense in bringing him up either.

I guess Oscar Colas can continue to hit dongs in Charlotte for no reason? Either play him up here or trade him for some other guy.

Scouts must know something we don't.  He might be another low IQ player that can only swing a bat.

Only if new ownership arrives there is a massive change over in the front office and millions and millions of dollars are spent on quality players will this happen.

Which means a new owner would have to know what they are doing.  Hiring may be even more difficult than firing.

Three more errors today...defense right? 😆

Like I posted a few days ago, guys have got to be thinking, "Get me the hell out of this garbage dump!"

Another two weeks and you'll start seeing these guys not even trying anymore.

They have the perfect manager for that.

Either he is the dumbest person in the room and doesn't understand what has happened since he came to town, or just thinks people will ignore facts and live in his fake reality. He really needs to go. He serves no purpose but to make the team a bigger punchline than they already are.

Reminds me of the team's chairman.

    There goes his trade value.

Trade and value are oxymorons in the Sox kingdom.  Fans have hope there are some naive GMS out there but unfortunately these seem to reside more in a certain organization we are familiar with.

DVS has a story out now where he spoke with Crochet who said it's time for the Sox to start getting angry.

Don't know if that will do any good or what may be going on in the clubhouse that caused Crochet to say that. (The assumption is that maybe things are to laid-back right now causing him to say that.)

You also wonder if Grifol has already lost the clubhouse.

    1.  Things he mention when he was hired about things he seen from the basement dugout about the team.

    2. "I didn't like the team".

He's quite clueless on what to say in our sensitive society.

Plus he was eager and foolish enough to take on a team full of head cases.   That's not something for a manager with no experience.  This season is set up to where he can't really fail nor really succeed.

He is here all season. I can’t believe people are convincing themselves otherwise.

Getz will be another loyalty over performance guy.  That's why they get all of the Royals people.
