  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 12:00 PM) Flowers will not get you a "top prospect 3B'. And I don't think AJ is worth 3/24, nor do I think that any team will give him 3 years. The Sox may indeed sign AJ, as it seems few teams are on him right now, but only if the market really dries up and they can get him cheap on a 1+1 type deal in terms of years. if they can't get him for that cheap, I'd rather not get him at all. I hate to say that because I love AJ, but, he's likely to go back to career norms or lower with the bat in 2013, and his defense is declining. Mets need a catcher, we have a young catcher (perhaps looking for time if we resign AJP) and they have three thirdbaseman in their top 20 prospects (not sure how up to date the list is in their website) ...I just see a deal possible. We all know Hahn doesn't want AJ back but if the team continues to send off fan favorites without even offering them contracts (see MB to Marlins) the Sox can continue to wonder why the attendance isn't better even when the team is winning. 3/24 I don't think breaks the bank and maybe it should be structured as 2 + option year at 8 per. I just hope that if we do go with Flowers he learns to not strikeout as frequently as a lineup featuring Flowers and Dunn along with free swinging Viciedo and Ramirez along with Beckham and his struggles does not get me overly excited.
  2. Sign AJ (3 years, 24 million), trade Flowers to Mets for a top prospect 3B that is MLB ready and that wold be inexpensive. With David Wright blocking the position for the next 8 years they should have some expendable pieces at 3b in the minors and they seem to be interested in Flowers whose power is great but I worry about the Sox adding another peice to the everyday lineup that strikes out all of the time in place of a fairly consistent contact hitter with some pop in AJP.
  3. Peavy just needs to keep pitching this way so that in July this thread is more meaningful. The handeling of Sale really has me more concerned as he is a much more viable long term piece to the puzzle and if management can't agree on whether to start him or sit him I would like to know who falls on which side of the argument.
  4. As long as southpaw doesnt have on the weather slicker
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) And If I had my way, I would swap out AJP for Russell Martin. But thats just me. I would want nothing to do with a catcher coming off a hip injury.. Sign AJ for two years..see if flowers develops at AAA this season.
