Does anyone actually put any value in PECOTA? Just seems like it is a highly inaccurate model, and the further a team roster is away from veteran-laden, the less accurate it is.

What did PECOTA predict for last season?

PECOTA has the Cubs at 82-80... Really?

They feel that the Cubs will be good, but the rest of their division will be scary good.  Besides, the Cubs have one of the (if not THE) oldest pitching staffs in the game.

The rich know that stadiums are a bad investment.  They hold cities hostage by saying "pay up or we'll leave".  Maybe their bluff needs to be called.

This happens all the time.  I think Reinsdorf was somewhat serious about Addison since the current stadium was designed to fit the street grid there.

I don't think Reinsdorf (or McCaskey) ever seriously considered moving to NW Indiana.  By making that threat, he held the City of Chicago AND  the State of Illinois hostage.

Steinbrenner once threatened to move the Yankees to Jersey, and the Cardinals threatened to build their new stadium in EAST St. Louis.  The city of Cincinnati is adjacent to TWO other states.  I don't know for sure, but I imagine they played that card too.

No thanks to Manchado if he can't bother to hustle in his walk year how do you think he'll play once he gets his money.

I heard that Jim Palmer and a few Oriole players have described Machado as a lazy player... I don't want him.

The Mariners have sucked but not because of Cano.

Pujols isn't the reason the Angels are mediocre, and the Cubs were a better  team before Heyward and Darvish.

That being said, those are all TERRIBLE contracts.

Lol I am pretty sure he addressed that during a “can’t do it” segment, it was a one time payment

Too bad for him.  I see a FELDCO commercial at least twice a day.

I knew somebody who was in a commercial for Chicken Helper several years ago... she made $40,000 in residuals in just over a year.

  5. I have to laugh at these Cub fans who think the sky is falling.

They still have the best record in the National League, and there is almost NO WAY they're going to miss the playoffs.

I've seen a lot of baseball over the past four decades, and in a majority of cases (`05 Sox), teams who limp their way into the playoffs tend to get really hot once those playoff games begin.  In other words, the fact that the Cubs are playing like crap right now might actually be a GOOD thing.

People on that board really hate Spiegs. They comment on his weight, rip on him for his honesty during “Can’t Do It” and overall display hate towards him. He and Parkins sound so much more natural together over McNeil and Parkins. I actually got more sports out of their segments than I do with McNeil.

Just had a thought... If Spiegs was drawing residuals from FELDCO, he wouldn't have to work for at least a decade.

Nice win. The tank should be declared officially over with 4/5 of the starting rotation all key cogs to the rebuild.

It's amazing what good pitching can do for a team.  This is the kind of pitching I had hoped for all year... that's why I believed 75-80 wins was possible when this team left Arizona in late March.

It’s definitely getting harder & harder to cheer for losses.

I'm tired of rooting for the draft pick.  I smiled when I heard Carlos Rodon say "I'm tired of losing."

Now that is something I can get on board with - Spiegel and Parkins together again! I wish they could get the final track of the Mitch album completed.

I can’t listen to the Score as much wth all of the Cubs talk. When the Sox are relevant again I hope that they get more air time to keep things interesting. I switch back to TuneIn podcasts when it’s just Cubs talk and switch back when they talk football.

The Kopech callup created a lot of White Sox discussion for a day.  It WAS fun!

    Here's an interesting read

    Goff

His Twitter account and Facebook mentions something about Sirius XM.

He used to do work on the NBA Channel on Sirius XM.

Spiegel and Parkins to reunite!  Spiegs will fill in for Mac next Mon-Wed.

I'm certain sports radio will be more fun once the Sox become relevant again.

I feel for Spiegs, he was not an issue. DeCastro really screwed him, even if he and Goff still have their contracts. His show’s ratings weren’t that bad and I didn’t feel he was too political. McKnight and Bernstein are okay and I can only stand McNeil and Parkins in small doses. I definitely have to go all around the dial to fill my work day and enjoy cross talk at 1:45 on AM 1000 as opposed to 670’s. Bernstein is good in his slot and it’s nice to have crosstalk in the morning, but he would be better on the afternoons where we could hear the meatball Chicago sports fan call in. Hearing some of those idiots call in and argue politics was funny too.

It sucks for Spiegs, but THAT'S THE RADIO BUSINESS.  IMO, Spiegs has no reason to hold a grudge against Mac.  Spiegs is still doing fill-in work at The SCORE.  Last I heard, Goff was on the air in Charlotte, NC.  I think he's finished in Chicago.

    Here's a thread about Spiegs...

Ask Cubs fans right now if they care that Kris Bryant was kept down in the minors so they could obtain an extra year of control during his peak years. Ask them if it’s affected other free agents or players on the roster.

    Weak effort.

My thoughts exactly.  If Eloy gets called up now and we lose that extra year of control, people are going to b**** about that when the time comes (and they'll have EVERY right to).
