  1. If they're better, they're better. IMO AJ Pierzynski is better than Tyler Flowers and Michael Bourne is better than Alejandro DeAza. Those are the two guys for whom I advocated.
  2. Every player that I've recommended signing is arguably better than the player they'd be replacing.
  3. At least someone seems to get my point. I don't advocate spending for the sake of spending, but, if your team has holes, and there are available players out there that can fill those holes, IMO ownership has to take a hard look at these "hole fillers" and do what it has to do to get them. I don't worry about "prospects", most never work out anyway. I don't care about 5-10 years down the road; I'm more interested in the 2013-2016.
  4. There is VERY little difference between not being able to spend money and not spending money. I guess I'm in the minority here; I believe that an owner's primary responsibilty is to put the best possible team on the field that he can. Period.
  5. Even though he is arguably the best baseball player alive and would GREATLY improve the Sox' chances of winning?
  6. Your opinion please...let's say that (for whatever reason) the Angels offered Albert Pujols to the Sox for Paul Konerko, straight up, no financial incentives. Do you think Reinsdorf would okay the deal?
  7. Only if it works out financially!
  8. I don't disagree with you at all. It would be nice to hear something...a rumor, a hint of a rumor, anything.
  9. Just wondering...has anyone checked to see if Hahn is alive???
  10. That's interesting. I never thought of it in those terms.
  11. I understand the importance of having an ace on your staff, but, IMO, players that can help you win every day are more important than those that can help you win every 5th (or 6th) game. (ie. Cabrera > Verlander)
  12. Hypothetical question for y'all...If you were the Sox' GM, and the Marlins' GM called you and offered Giancarlo Stanton for Chris Sale, what woild you say/do? HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
  13. I never said getting Danks back wouldn't be huge. Correct me if I'm wrong; isnt Danks coming back from his injury more of a risk than V-Mart coming back form his, based on the nature of the injuries and their respective positions?
  14. I agree with you 100%! I've thought that since the Sox have had Dunn, he shouldn't bat 3rd. The #3 spot is typically for a team's best hitter.
  15. Carlos had a down year last year; he is a perennial all star.
  16. Except that Detroit added Torii Hunter and gets Victor Martinez back; two HUGE additions to their lineup. (The Sox "countered" those moves by adding Keppinger and subtracting AJ.). The gap between the two teams has obviously widened, (as of 12/31/2012).
  17. $70 million for 5 years for Carlos is not a lot of money, not in today's market.
  18. I'm "citing" them as an indicator of how some members of the national sports media perceive the Sox and their off season "improvements".
  19. Maybe trade Beckham and Floyd and prospects for Chase Headley??? Probably have to throw in Viciedo too.
  20. DeAza, Ramirez, Flowers and/or Beckham could be #9 hitters.
  21. On the "bright side", the team has a stockpile of #9 hitters!
  22. You're right, but every time a team makes a deal and it isn't the Sox, I get antsy.
