  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 10:12 AM) And put them in a pinata Dude, did you really miss all those draft picks for a quick shagg?
  2. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 10:01 AM) Our best first round draft choice since Sale. Seriously there can not be any Sox fan who is upset about this at all. It would be impossible, literally. Rodon wasn't by any means my first choice, more like 3rd or 4th, that said I'm happy as hell we have him so I definitely agree with you. Hoping the Sox give Rodon a shot at taking a similar path as Sale, if he takes a bit longer that would be fine. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 10:01 AM) He wants to make baseball babies with him. Awe sheeiiit. So we can expect to see the offspring somewhere around the 2032 draft?
  3. Hey, TUC. I know you were a big supporter of Kolek ( me too), just curious what your thoughts are about Rodon. Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.
  4. I wouldn't worry much about Rodon's signability, if there was potential for a problem the Sox likely would have rolled the dice on Nola instead.
  5. Any guesses / rumors as to who the Sox take in the second?
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:37 PM) Schwarber is basically Prince Fielder which is why this pick doesnt make any sense. Especially for a team and farm system that needs pitching, in a draft loaded with pitchers no less. Lmfao!
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:35 PM) Man, Schwarber looks like he's gonna be a really fat dude whenever he stops playing baseball. Put a hockey jersey on him and call him Kevin Smith.
  8. While not who I was hoping for, I'll gladly take him.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:13 PM) Aiken #1........................................ I am BUMMED! You are not alone.
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) Sox go with Trea Turner ;-) QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) I'd cry Oh how my balls would ache. That was rather mean Marty.
  11. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:27 PM) I will be thrilled with Aiken, very happy with Jackson or Rodon, and happy with Nola or Kolek. Not really any outcome where they aren't getting a very good prospect but some are a little more exciting than others. At this point its hard to go wrong, dare I say even the cubs would have a difficult time f***ing this up.
  12. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:24 PM) WHAT DO YOU MEAN JOHN MANUEL??? TELL US YOUR SECRETS!! Maybe this...? Houston takes Aiken, Miami takes Rodon and the Sox say screw Nola/ Kolek and draft Jackson.
  13. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:21 PM) Maybe Houston will do something nobody sees coming and take Jackson, leaving Chicago one of Aiken or Rodon, now that would be great. Yes! Im totally on the fence when trying to choose between Rodon, Nola or Kolek. f*** it, just draft Jackson.
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) More like Really though I think with all the research I've done - I've sold myself on anyone we're possible to land. We will get a good piece in the first and some other good ones to follow. Oh, I'm praying alright! Lol. I agree tho. With so much talent available at #3, I think most Sox fans will be pleased with the pick. After Aiken, I have Kolek, Jackson, Rodon and Nola constantly changing their order in my head. Not sure who to pull for if Aiken comes off the board before the Sox pick.
  15. The dilemma of Kolek or Nola will be resolved in two hours when Houston takes Rodon #1, Miami takes Jackson #2 and the Sox take Aiken #3.
  16. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 03:53 PM) 30 hookers and a bag of Colombian cocaine That's quite a haul. Wait, how big is the bag? Can we just fast forward two hours already? Fuuuuck!
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 01:54 PM) Heh, reminds me of the Moneyball movie where the old scouts were asking about a prospect's girlfriend. Haha, that's a scouts job though. Just making sure all the bases are covered. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 01:57 PM) I cant wait to watch the Cubs fan's reactions when they go underslot Yes! The cubs pick fourth, are desperate for pitching, the draft is heavy on pitching, so its likely they draft a hitter... at underslot no less. I like the way you think Baron.
  18. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 01:41 PM) Rodon has a hot girlfriend. In today's sad society, I wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor for some.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 01:03 PM) Yes. Even though Jackson isn't slam dunk to Marlins, there at least seems to be higher probability of Jackson to Marlins than to Houston (from what little we know of Houston's thought process). Having choice among Kolek, Aiken and Nola is really nice. I will happily take any of those three with Aiken being my first choice but I could flip a coin between Nola and Kolek. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 01:06 PM) I still think people underestimate the fact that Sox could conceivably rate Nola as high because they think he will be a great pitcher not necessarily just because he is "safe". Exactly. Nola put up very good numbers the last two seasons at LSU, yet most are still so focused on Rodon. I just don't get it.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 01:00 PM) With the word now that the Marlins coveting Rodon, we really should hope then that Rodon goes #1. Maybe then the Marlins go back to Jackson, leaving Aiken for the Sox?
  21. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:51 AM) I'd be happy with any of the 4 guys speculated. I'm rather high on Nola. I know the draft is about projection, but I like production. 12-1 with a 1.57 ERA in the SEC??? Uh ya, I'd have no problem with that. The production put up by the high school kids is nice, but what was the level of competition there? I'm not saying I have Nola at the top of my list but I wouldn't question the pick one bit. Nola's numbers are what confuses me when some say we have to take Rodon if he's there but say no to Nola. Nola does have better college numbers than Rodon, though I realize you can't hinge everything on numbers alone. IMO, Rodon has been over-hyped.
  22. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:45 AM) Aaron Fitt of BA saw his start in the SEC Tournament against Arkansas and said he was at 95-96 in a first inning or so, then sat 92-94 until the 8th. That would do just fine. I read that too, was a good read. I didn't really like the idea of Nola til I read that article yesterday. I'm much more at ease with the idea of drafting Nola. I still prefer Aiken, but Kolek or Nola would make fine selections as well if Aiken is gone. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:45 AM) The "safe" pick at 1-3 is different than the "safe" pick at 1-15, which is where Broadway went. I agree. Its just that the scouting reports remind me of what was said about Broadway when he was drafted. This doesn't mean Nola will have the same fate as Broadway by any means.
  23. QUOTE (oneofthemikes @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:15 AM) This. His command is his biggest selling point right now. Very advanced pitchability. Plus fastball and a couple other potential plus offerings. I like what I've read, but what scares me is Nola's scouting reports sounds a bit like Broadway. You know, good command with good off speed pitches. But Nola is not Broadway so if the Sox draft him all we can do is hope Nola doesn't turn out to be Broadway 2.0.
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:05 AM) Eh that doesn't excite me to much. He's a 3 at best. I haven't read our watched much of Nola. What's his arsenal? Two seam FB that tops in the mid 90's, potential plus curve and change, supposed to be very good control/command.
