Eloy crushed that home run. When Robert returns Eloy will start seeing a few more fastballs. He has no protection in the current line-up.
Nice win but cold/damp weather again. The last two games of the series may be rain-outs but the spotty forecasts are hard to figure out. More wins and better weather please.

The Cubs success has nothing to do with winning and everything to do with Lakeview becoming the premier neighborhood for postgrad Midwestern transplants.
As many older fans who post here recall, the Cubs gained popularity during a stretch where their games were broadcast on WGN and when Harry switched from the Sox to the Cubs. We had a tough time watching Sox games on scrambled broadcasts and in many cases, over pirated de-scramblers.
As far as the yuppie demographics in Lakeview, good for them, but that is not our fan base.. WSox fans are good people of every kind from every corner of an enormous City and Metropolitan area. This post was revealing though. I am now beginning to understand the Cubfan mindset. It sounds like some of them think that trying to replicate what you describe for the WSox might be a good idea. They know Lakeview, but have no idea about our fan base and frankly, I could care less.

Drawing visitors to the immediate area without dedicated parking is heavily steeped in the Cubfan mindset. Be a Cub fan if that is what you like to do. Quick and Easy to get up there and back home from the South side after you are done carousing with other Cub fans at local bars.
We drive to games and sometimes go to Manny's Tufano's, Greek Islands, China Town, Stix n'Brix, Ricobene's, Turtle's, Cork and Kerry, Girodanos, Gino's East, Gatto's, Cooper's Hawk, Lou Malnati's, or countless other places in and around downtown Chicago or in our case, the Southwest suburbs.
WSox have been on 35th for over 100 years. They can easily build on the site of the original Comiskey or other sites preferably near the Lakefront (like the old Michael Reese hospital site) , but not that hole in the ground / aka the 78. That thing is a joke architecturally, financially, and practically.
Meanwhile there is a frost warning in Chicago. We need warmer weather and a win or two before the Sox return for their next homestand. I will be there unless it is still freezing out. Let's Go Sox !

Eloy had a nice game. He needs Luis Robert in the line-up to protect him. You can't win much with only one player that can hit.

Ask families from the Southwest suburbs who attend a lot of Sox games if they would put their kids on mass transit through the South side hoods to get to a stadium in the South loop that has no on-site parking. Some will, but you put the future of the franchise at risk with a move that is really unnecessary. So easy for Related to fill in that site with other offices buildings.
I would bet many who think it is a good idea don't attend WSox games anyway, so why should they care ?
Anyway that site is such old news.

It appears that Andrew's vulnerability to off speed pitches, especially on the outer half, has been exploited by pitchers. I do not have an answer but as a fan watching a lot of his whiffs, it looks to me like he may need to adjust the timing of his raised leg kick. It looks like he loads up on his back leg too early and the ball is in the catcher's mitt by the time he "steps in the bucket" so to speak with his left foot. I am not adding anything that he doesn't know and the coaches don't know, but it is painful to watch him taken down with so many K's on pitches that are out of the strike zone. For sure, he is a better hitter than what he has shown so far.

OK but I recall just a few short years ago when almost everyone here was excited about the prospective line-up after the WSox added Grandal to it.
KW and Hahn were entrusted by JR to make the Sox competitive. Instead they systematically destroyed the team and demoralized fans. JR's biggest mistake was getting too close personally to those clowns and sitting idly by as they damaged and devalued the franchise. Terrible draft picks, unconscionable trades, and failure to add free agents to fill key holes in the line-up were among the mistakes they made. KW and Hahn are now living the life of Reilly off WSox money. F them.

Even for those who did not/do not want Ozzie to manage again, you might agree that he would at least shake things up in the clubhouse and perhaps in the front office. Ozzie has said in his post-game comments that he might consider bringing up minor league players to give them a shot rather than watching the players we have fail to hit. I would be OK with that, even where control of players might be impacted. These are desperate times. The other thing is that Ozzie would add some interest for the media and for fans. Grifol has zero personality - a real dud. IMO. bringing Oz back at least on an interim basis is a no-brainer, but as much as JR is loyal to old employees, he also may hold grudges.

My guess is that ownership has already been interviewing potential managers, perhaps at least interim managers. Getz has likewise done a terrible job. Changes have to be made when the Sox return home from this road trip.

Generally, I think throwing in the towel in any sport is bad business and poor sportsmanship. Sox can win some of the close games they have been losing. They have to make adjustments and keep trying, not throw in the towel. As long as they go out and battle, I will support the team.

The Sox are losing a lot of 9 inning games by one or two runs and losing some in extra innings. Management can either throw in the towel and tank the team for years by trading premium talent for prospects OR find a way to improve the team so that they can get over the hump and win many of those close games. I would pursue the latter course because the Sox have a few hitters who will start hitting and they have improved the depth of the pitching staff which will serve them as the season moves on. It isn't even baseball weather yet.

The opening series with Detroit set the tone. Sox could have and probably should have won 2/3 of those games but they didn't. Grifol was responsible for not having every player ready to compete, physically and mentally, from Opening Day. Multiple strained and pulled muscles? Blame the players if you want but ownership pays the manager and a conditioning staff to have players prepared before every game and every at-bat. That was not the case. What the heck were they doing at Spring "Training."
Moving forward, the team is obviously short on talent but Grifol has to come up with a line-up and a strategy to scratch across a few runs. No need for Grifol to stay up at night analyzing film. Instead typical baseball strategy for a weak hitting team is called for - take more pitches to try and get walks...bunt....hit toward the opposite field... move around in the box from pitch to pitch....grind out every at-bat. And please move slow players and guys that hit a lot of grounders down in the line-up to avoid double plays.
Well, I am tired of waiting for the Sox to do any of that so IMO, Grifol has to go as soon as possible. It's not too late to at least have a course change that can win some games. Don't wait until the All Star break to give this guy his walking papers.

Our new pay-by-play announcer enjoyed some time in the outfield concourse getting to know us and the park. After watching replays, I liked the way he called out WSox haters during Benintendi's walk off HR. It was about time someone did it.
