    Did you just call somebody a hater? I've never seen you post something positive. Not once. In fact, you have more than 1 account just to hate. That's just weird, dude.

    I have positive posts. They just aren't in the Moncada thread cause there hasn't been much to be positive about with him this year.

    More than one account? LMAO. More nonsense.

    But he's smart enough to not take a Ron-like approach to Abreu, otherwise it would be obvious that he just hates Cubans

    Get out of here with this nonsense. I got no problems with Cuban players and love me some Jose Abreu. Abreu has proven that he can hit big league pitching unlike Moncada or Robert.

    U ready to eat crow on Albies yet? That kid just keeps on proving haters like you wrong day after day.

    A post like this SHOULD be embarrassing.  The fact that you are suggesting teams would rather have guys like Bote or Alen Hensen proves my point.

    David Bote already has a higher WAR than Moncada this year and Bote has only played in 34 games!

    Quit living in the past with Moncada. His #1 prospect days are ancient history.

    This group doesn't really care about facts or reality.  They only want to be throwing a temper tantrum.

    Please show me some facts that display an improvement in Moncadas game.

    You couldn't even trade Moncada straight up for David Bote at this point. Pretty harsh reality.

    Yeah,,, he is young.. can run... swing looks pretty.

    But I doesn't really look like he can hit MLB pitching at the moment.

    There is still hope.. but I just don't see it.

    This looks like a pretty bad swing and miss by Hahn and the boys...

    Hope to hell im eating crow on this...

    Moncada is nothing more than a paper tiger at this point. I've been saying it for months, but the Sox got sold a Toyota Camry disguised as a Porsche.  All the "tools" in the world don't matter if the kid can't hit and adjust his approach.

    He is going to shatter the all time record for strikeouts in a season. It will be really interesting to see what the Sox do with him a month from now. Will they shut him down in Mid-September in a developmental year or let him him shatter the strikeout record?

    Whenever I watch Sheets, it seems he isn't even trying to loft the ball. If it's a sinker, he just pounds it into the ground. To my eyes, his swing needs a total overhaul if he wants to stay a prospect the next few years.

    Sheets was a total reach in the second round. Hosteller would definitely like a mulligan on his first two picks from 2017.

  7. Some crazy talk going on here in regards to Luis Robert. Comps to Trout and Mantle? The kid has over 100 at bats this year in the minors and hasn't hit a homer. Enough said right there.

  8. Moncada has struck out 169 times this season. Nine more k's than Joey Gallo! He is going to set the all time record for most strikeouts in a season at this pace.

    This season has been an absolute train-wreck. I'm not sure how anyone can say with a straight face that they have seen Moncada improve this year.

    His ceiling is looking more and more like Starlin Castro with each passing day and that is downright frightening.

    Completely ignoring free agency to fill in any gaps and whoever our 2019 draft pick is, a 2021 lineup like the below seems reasonable:

    2B: Madrigal

    3B: Moncada

    CF: Robert

    LF: Eloy

    Catcher: Collins

    1B: Burger/Sheets

    RF: Best of Rutherford/Adolfo/Basabe/Gonzalez/Walker

    DH: Best of Rutherford/Adolfo/Basabe/Gonzalez/Burger/Sheets/Walker

    SS: Anderson

    Moncada at third sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. The Sox need to go hard after Machado and Arenado.

    Collins isn't going to stick behind the plate. His defense is terrible and not improving. Puff quotes from Nick Hostletter don't count.

    Because the White Sox won't spend like the Cubs.  We don't have their revenue streams, and we don't have their fanbase.  If we start getting 40,000 to the park every night before we start winning, I will reevaluate that line of thought.

    This rebuild is doomed if you think the Sox can field a competitive team solely from the farm. That is 100% not realistic!

  11. 3 minutes ago, southsider2k5 said:

    I'd also point out that Gonzalez and Robert are currently in A ball in August 2018, and you penciling them in as playoff starters in 2020.  Did people learn nothing from 2017 and 2018?

    Honestly I wonder if part of the reason people are so angry is their expectations are ridiculous.  What you are looking at here is a 100% best case scenario.

    I find it hilarious that you just hand wave away the Cubs example of a team making the playoffs with 3 rookie starters. Do you live in an alternate reality where that didn't happen?

    People have been comparing the Sox rebuild to the Cubs for months now. Why are we all of sudden saying that it isn't realistic for this team to be competing for the playoffs in 2020?

  12. 5 minutes ago, southsider2k5 said:

    Have we gotten the Cubs checkbook?  Awesome!

    You asked people to provide examples man. Look around baseball. There are young kids producing all over the place. Some of these young kids from the Sox need to hit the ground running.

    I guess that is the nice thing about rebuilding though. Everything can always just be pushed out a year due to the idea that not all development is linear.

  13. 7 minutes ago, southsider2k5 said:

    You expect a team with 3 position player rookies starting to make the playoffs?  Again, not really seeing that as realistic.

    The Yanks are running two position player rookies out there right now. Atlanta has acuna, Albies, and Camargo in their starting lineup.

    Collins was drafted as an advanced college bat in 2016. He should be ready to go by 2020 especially if he is moved off catcher.

    Luis Robert was signed in the Summer of 2017. He will be 23 in 2020. Kids like Soto and Acuna are up now producing at age 19 and 20. I would expect Robert could do the same.

    Gonzalez is another college bat drafted in 2017 that should be ready by 2020.

    Which is exactly why I laid out about when specific prospects should be getting here.  I feel like any set of expectations that doesn't include the timelines of who is going to be here isn't really very valid. If you expectation is playoffs in 2020, wouldn't you expect the bulk of your rebuild to be here?  It is like betting on an internet company to triple in price without their being any products in the pipeline during that time.  I don't get the idea of setting arbitrary deadlines that don't correspond to anything in reality.

    The Sox better be going after it in 2020. That will be year 4 of the rebuild. Same year that the Cubs started their playoff run. Sox should be able to do the same. Competing in 2020 will require JR to open the checkbook but if you wanna be a big boy club in today's MLB you gotta be willing to spend.

    1B/ Zach Collins

    2B Yoan Moncada

    SS Tim Anderson

    3B Nolan Arenado

    LF Eloy Jimenez

    CF Luis Robert

    RF  Luis Gonzalez

    C  JT Realmeto

    DH Palka/Davidson until Adolfo is ready.

    SP1=Patrick Corbin

    SP2=Carlos Rodon

    SP3=Michael Kopech

    SP4=Reynaldo Lopez

    SP5=Dane Dunning/Giolito/Stephens/Adams

    Bullpen will be some mix of Burdi, Hamilton, Fry, Flores, Burr, Medrios, and a FA signing.

    Yolmer as utility guy

    Zavala back up catcher

    Sox trade Madrigal, Cease, and Hansen for JT Realmeto.

    If the Sox are not competitive by the end of the 2021 season, then the rebuild has been a complete failure. 2019 is likely another fairly tough rebuilding year, but we should be getting signs of life. 2020 should be back to .500 ideally, or trending upwards at a minimum. 2021 we should ideally be ready to rock.

    The Sox should be playing much better than 500 ball in 2020. That will be year 4 of the rebuild. The Cubs were able to go to deep into the playoffs during year 4 of their rebuild. The Sox should be competing for a division crown in 2020.

    So what's the deal with the Braves and Phillies right now?

    Ozzie Albies has a WAR of 5.2 in 164 games played and is 20 years old.

    Ronald Acuna has a WAR of 1.2 in 60 games and is 20 years old.

    Johan Camargo has a WAR of 3.0 in 171 games played and is 24.

    Sean Newcomb has a WAR of 3.0 with 42 career starts.

    That is pretty damn impressive. The only guy still scuffling for them is Dansby Swanson.

    How many teams in the the league would be able to tell you who their 2020 catcher is going to be with any confidence?  The position is generally terrible league wide.  The Sox are fairly well positioned with options there with Narvaez, Collins, Zavala and Smith.

    Most of the big boy teams have a pretty good idea of who their catcher will be in 2020.

    I disagree that the Sox are fairly well positioned at catcher. Maybe the Sox shock the world and sign Grandal this offseason.

    I spent last year saying that we were going to win the world series in 2020. I can't say that any more.

    The rebuild has already been pushed back a season. Rodon can't be traded now...but this offseason we might have a shot at getting the right kind of return, and if he keeps this up, by next trade deadline he should be able to.

    At what point does the rebuild become the snake eating its own tail? The tearing down part of the rebuild is over. Next year will be another developmental year for all the youngsters but I suspect Hahn will add some FA as well.

    The Sox control Rodon for 2019, 2020, and 2021. This team should be able to compete in 2020 and 2021.

  19. Echoing what others have said, it is likely that Narvaez's ceiling is that of a backup catcher. He just isn't good enough defensively to be the every day catcher.

    The real question is who is going to be the every day catcher in 2020 when this team is supposed to be ready to compete? The Sox are probably fooling themselves if they think Collins is the answer at catcher as no one outside of the organization thinks that he will stick behind the plate.

    Rick Hahn may prove to be a terrible GM, but it won’t be because he never wore a varsity jacket.  And him going to Harvard & Northwestern for graduate degrees are only good things, no matter how badly some here would like to spin it otherwise.

    Those degrees sure cost a pretty penny. Too bad they haven't been able to buy a winning season on the South Side since Mr. Hahn took over.

    If they give 600 AB’s to any of those CFs, then Rick should be fired on the spot.  Playing time is an asset during a rebuild.  Other than Leury, who is made of glass, none of them has done anything to warrant an extended look next year.  Sign a vet that can take some pressure off the kids and potentially be flipped if things go right.

    I’m all for Machado, but if we miss I have no problem with a vet for a year and try at Arenado the following offseason.

    Don't you think Pollack and Dozier are gonna get 3 year deals? Also, has Dozier even played more than 50 games in his career at third?
