  1. I recall people being cautious about the Eaton deal when it was signed. 12 million a year isn’t very risky to a team that wasted 40 million this offseason on plugs. If it backfires, the rebuild will fail anyways. Just get him up here on opening day

  2. Overall, I'm a big believer in Moncada and Eloy. Obviously, they both have absurd skill sets that limit their floors.

After that, I'd like to see a full season this year of LuBob where he stays healthy, and hits about .280-.300 with 15-20 homeruns.  It will be interesting to see his stolen base totals at the end of the season.  I'm really not sure about Madrigal yet, need to see how he performs in his first full year of pro ball.  The 2016 and 2017 first round picks I won't even touch on.

On the pitching side of things, after Cease and Dunning, I really do not see that much upside other than innings eaters in the minors.  Maybe take the best arm you could get at 3 if Vaughn or Rutschman aren't available when we pick?  On the Major League Roster, I like Rodon to take a big step forward this year, but I've been thinking he'd do that for years now. This is a make or break year for him.  Lopez should be a good 3/4 for years to come.  Giolito is just meh.

All in all, I think the Sox need big steps forward on the pitching side of things this year to get a better outlook of what we have.

  3. What middle tier relief pitchers are available next offseason? Because realistically, all the Sox are going to get are RP on short term deals that are going to be flippable at the deadline due to being a 90 loss team again. Can’t wait to see tweets saying Rick Hahn is a genius for acquiring more Ryan Cordell’s

I'm not a fan of Hahn anymore either but this is Jerry's fault much more than his. Hahn can only use the money he is given.

Hahn’s the moron who hyped up the offseason full on knowing what the payroll constraints are. Get over it and try to get more followers on twitter

If you can’t convert on a tailor made future HoF free agent for you org in his absolute prime because he went at the lower end of the anticipated market rate, and you have “planned” for this...you deserve all the criticism and barbs you will get.  Have at it @Whitesoxa6

I’m deeply devastated by the Machado news myself. Even being how pessimistic I was, I really thought deep down that they’d pony up. I kind of used my pessimism as a safety net to not get too confident in this organization and it really didn’t help at all. I’m actually disappointed about how right I was about this whole situation. Good night guys.

80%...look at their division.  And worst case, prospects (top end and depth) can be traded for stars as needed.

The team was dogshit last year when they were supposed to see improvements from graduated prospects. With exceptions to Jiménez, Kopech, and Cease, all of their prospects have big question marks regarding their future. Picking top 10 year after year has done nothing to help the rebuild when it should have

Wait, you are lecturing someone about THEIR level of faith? Come on.

I’ve never had faith in this rebuild because they haven’t been able to find consistent talent for almost 20 years.  But this guy has been hyping up the future of this team for years and now is giving up all of a sudden?

Well they developed 4 home grown stars in Altuve, Bregman, Correa, and Springer. I don't see the Sox being able to develop hitting talent that efficiently so they have to go to free agency to make up for it. If the Sox don't convert now when the situation couldn't have developed any more perfectly, I just don't think they ever will.

You’ve been hyping up this rebuild for over 2 years and now you’ll lose faith because they can’t sign someone? Almost like you were just worried about likes and followers on Twitter the whole time...

  9. Might make a tweet asking people to like the tweet if they would buy a Manny Machado Jersey. I could easily make it a poll, but I like the instant gratification of getting likes on twitter so I’m going to do that. Not that I even care if anyone would buy a Manny Jersey. I just want the likes

This is good news. He is taking the best deal. So we will know if the Sox were serious, or just excited that a player would consider signing with them if they paid him a boatload of money.

Yes good for Manny for taking the best deal when it comes. Sox wasted 13 million on garbage players to try to lure him to this shit show of an organization and won't even be willing to be the highest bidder for the guy.

No one downplayed the Padres because of taxes. They downplayed the Padres because they're the Padres.

The Padres future looks brighter than the White Sox. Far and away the best farm system in baseball. They've also shown a willingness to spend in the past. They are less of a joke than the White Sox

Have you been paying attention at all in these threads? There has been extensive talk on taxes already, with regards to the differences and how he would lose more by doing your scenario...::

If the Padres offered 300 and the Sox 280, he'd take the Padres offer. That 300 number is more important to him then the taxes
