You guys keep saying there's a lot of smoke today. What smoke are you talking about? Hector gomez saying the same shit over and over isn't smoke and the color of his glove isn't indictive that negotiations are deep

Our fanbase would be alot less garbage if we didn't have such an annoying group on Twitter. ChiSoxFanMike is the worst account on Twitter. Absolute garbage tweets all day everyday

Just powered through a fuckton of pages, but my opinion is this gets done by Friday at the latest. Way too much fucking smoke right now for this not to happen and very soon.
People in here have been saying this since the first week of January. This feels no different then the first time we heard Hector say Sox offered 8/250

It hasn't been fun for me since about mid December. It's just been stressful and annoying since then.
Stressful? Are you kidding me? Don’t you have better things to worry about like work or school?

How many bench players could an organization possibly want? This guy is another version of lamarre. Absolutely pointless waste of a roster spot if he makes the team

So, no? No proof of anything?
I'm sure there's a stat that says a very high % of players that hit less than .230 in the minors and provide no defensive value, don't become major league regulars. Anyone who has confidence in Collins’ future has to be a homer. If he was in a different system, nobody on here would see any upside in this guy

Why can't you admit you just pulled arbitrary standards out of thin air and made up them as a fact?
Well in a few years when collins is proven to be a useless major league baseball player, we could all look back on my posts and say "Well, I guess he was right"

What did you think of AJ Pierzynski and his stature as a major league hitter? Was he also garbage? Statistically, Collins is better offensively based solely on MiLB numbers. AJP had 2500 minor league plate appearances before he was called up, with a .739 OPS. Collins has had roughly HALF the PAs (in a park that is known to suppress power) and has posted a .805 OPS. Better write him off though, because ya know... batting average is the only offensive statistic that matters.
AJ Pierzynski was a catcher. The only reason this guy is still catching in the minors is to try to hide the fact that he is another failed pick. They know he has no value anywhere else on the diamond other than catcher

Sure, if you just ignore the fact that he plays catcher, and has crazy good OBP skills, and basically strip away all of his positive, sure. Just like Mike Trout doesn't have a great arm, and that's why he sucks.
Every major publication has basically said he has no chance of becoming a major league catcher, which takes away any hint of value the guy had. Why can't people just admit that he looks like another draft failure from this front office?

He also walks 20% of the time, but if you want to judge a prospect entirely on their batting average that’s on you.
Nobody who hits .230 in the minors and strikes out at a 30% clip is going to come close to that number in the majors. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but nobody has yet to name a good major league 1b/Dh that had close to the pathetic career stats that Collins has in the minors

So unless you can become a better than average player, you are a garbage prospect. Makes perfect sense.
Usually to be a good prospect, you have to show upside of becoming an average major leaguer. A 1B/DH who hits .230 in the low minors is garbage. There's no way he's ever above a .220 hitter in the majors at this rate but I'd love to be proven wrong

Speaking of not very exciting and garbage...
Find me one 1B/DH who hit .230 and struck out 30% of the time in the minors who became a better than average MLB player

Did Kopech, Cease, Madrigal, Robert, Dunning, Collins, Rutherford, etc die?
Collins and Rutherford are pretty garbage prospects. Let's be honest, a career .220 or so minor league hitter and a guy with like 10 homeruns in 3 seasons aren't very exciting prospects

I remember it was early December when the first rumors came out...I was supposed to be studying for my finals but I was glued to this forum/Twitter because I really thought something was going to happen then. We're now 2 months past that and nothing has changed. 🤦🏻♂️
Weird how you would let a guy you called a piece of shit and a scumbag during the NLCS get into your head so much. You would think someone with such strong negative feelings towards a player wouldn’t want them near their team

Manny Machado isn’t going to sign until March. It’s going to be an even bigger kick in the nuts when it’s not with us.

And the Cubs got absolutely boned in the Quintana deal. Does that mean Hahn is obviously better than Theo?
The cubs are still getting good value out of Quintana. It isn’t a complete Loss for them like the Shields trade

Like I said the other day, the only advantage San Diego has over Chicago is the weather. Illinois has a lower tax rate than California, the Sox play in a much easier division than the Padres, and the Sox have some of his best friends on this team. If the money is relatively equal, I see no reason why he would choose them over us.
Our GM got boned without lube by the Padres GM in the Shields Trade. How could you say that weather is the only thing they have on us? Their front office is obviously better, and they’ve shown a willingness to overpay for players in the past

Better farm system, better gm, a team that’s knowingly willing to spend. They are more desirable than the Sox imo.

Rick Hahn is already a known liar. He lied about calling up prospects when they force the issue and now he’s going to lie about spending big money when the time is right. Fire this clown if he fails to sign Machado

He is an expert on cringeworthy things.
That guy posts the same regurgitated garbage content on twitter every day about Machado. He called the guy a piece of shit during the NLCS because I’m pretty sure he was cheering for the brewers but now wants him on the Sox just so he could get more likes on twitter

So gut feeling time. Are we getting this done? What do we think?
Probably not. . Hahn will then come out and say it wasn’t time to spend the type of money that Lozano wanted.
Machado signs with Padres 10/300

I'm going to laugh so hard on here when the Sox lose out on Manny to SD. Everyone in here has been downplaying them the whole time because of taxes. If the Sox offered 250 and the Padres offered 255, he'd go to the Padres all day. This front office sucks, this organization is pathetic
