Draft Day 2 Thread - Rounds 3-10 (Tracker in OP)
Interesting that Siani was picked. Also no idea who our pick was, but up the middle high school, so I like it.

Yep. Looks like they loaded the system up the past two years and now they are back to their usual strategy of position players

Every indication is that he does get drafted by someone this year.

Conversely the Yankees or Cubs would have enough loyalty from fans they don't have to worry about losing fans.

2018 MiLB White Sox news and notes
Its probably because extended spring training just ended and he was still a little rusty so they put him in Kannapolis for a week or two and then up to the Dash.
- Luis Robert to Kannapolis

I think Wilcox and Rocker already put out social media posts saying they are going to college, so they would probably be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to sign now.

Stowers was taken in the second. I was kind of surprised we took Walker over Stowers but I guess we like the safe hit tool more.

I have two guys that if we take them today I will be happy with the draft. 1) Bren Spillane 2) Erick Rivera - Puerto Rican HS OF with a great arm, good speed, and absolutely elite, top of the scale bat speed. He might have the best bat speed in the class (better than Kelenic, Cabell, Gorman, Casas) while also having similar tools to Kelenic and Cabell, but he is also more than a year younger than Kelenic and he will probably be a late draft pick.

Some interesting quotes from Hostetler in the Sun-Times article on Steele Walker: The run, arm and power are all about a grade above where most others have him while the hit might actually be lower. Also forgot about it until now, but Walker and Madrigal should know each other because they played on the collegiate national team together last summer.

I was just thinking first pick tomorrow is either Tristan Beck or Konnor Pilkington

Just watched some film on Walker. I bet we are projecting some more power on him because he used a lower hand load during the summer and did well while it looks like he went away from that during the spring but added some more lower body into his swing. Both of those things look like they add power to him so if he is able to do both together he might get more power than he showed using either individually.

Gonzalez has a much better arm and probably better speed. Also had a better k-BB ratio

I changed my mind. If we think he can play center, I like it. He did better on the national team with wood than Swaggerty and had similar stats this year besides strikeout and walk rates, but he was in a better conference.

Don't love it, but what do I know. FG had him at 56 Pipeline had him at 30

I'd probably want Jenista over Conine if we are taking a corner outfielder.

It would be funny if we get Alek Thomas because he is similar to Madrigal (good contact, fringy power, good speed, good defense, questionable arm) just like Sheets was similar to Burger last year, but last year was all about power while we are ignoring it this year.

Lavigne in all those hitters parks in the Rockies minors system is going to put up some crazy power numbers.

As long as we also get Spillane at 108.

I wonder if we're floating him or just hoping he is still there. How quickly do we usually find out signing bonuses for top guys?

They announced Beer as an outfielder. I wonder if they are actually going to try to keep him in the outfield
