I heard about this story on the national news on the radio today. The bat which sold for over a half million dollars (named "Black Betsy"), is one of two that are known to survive from Shoeless Joe's career. Manufacturer labeling on the bat was used from 1917-1921. Shoeless Joe Jackson was a member of the White Sox from 1915-1920.
