New York sports writers and media people saying there's no way Machado is going to sign with the White Sox. They're all over the internet and MLB.com.

Their New York bias is just so obvious. It absolutely cracks me up.

And you know what? He may not sign with the White Sox, but if that happens, it doesn't make these yak heads supreme confidence in the superiority of New York any less laughable.

All the teams and their fans are looking down on the White Sox right now.

Same with NY and Boston fans looking down on the Phillies, or Cubs’ players and fans looking down on the Cardinals.

Thats why it is so important now that we do follow through and sign a whale to shut them up.  Because next year when the Sox are pursuing free agents...all we’ll hear about is how the Sox were supposedly in the driver’s seat on Machado for weeks and even added $13 million in contracts to accommodate him and STILL couldn’t get ‘er done (must be said with the Mater voice from Lightning McQueen).

Meh. That’s not going to shut them up. Those same people will just say Machado took the money, he doesn’t care about winning, and he’ll be unhappy within a couple of years.

Theyre already saying that.

Winning gets the media on your side. Sustained winning. Competent organization = winning = better media coverage

Depends on the market.  Wasn’t really the case for the Braves.   For smaller markets, like Cleveland, the local media typically provides more favorable coverage despite skeptical fans if a team can’t break through and win it all.

It’s not like the Sox have taken that much heat for losing, they just have ceased to exit in comparison to the Cubs.
