Thus far this season, Alonso has 3 walks in 3 games.  If he keeps it up, he could set a new team record for the most walks in a season and by so doing provide the high OBP player that the Sox have needed ever since Frank Thomas left the team.

Well this thread peaked early. No topping that one. 

This so clearly a troll thread that I won't humor it by leaving it open.

To end this, the record is 138 walks in 1991 for Frank Thomas. He finished 3rd in MVP voting. His 7.0 bWAR was second among hitters, behind Ripken (the MVP), who had  11.5 bWAR. Cecil Fielder finished above Frank because sabermetrics weren't popular yet.
