Baseball America has been ranking the top prospects at every position in the minor leagues.

 

So far they've covered catchers, first basemen, second basemen, shortstops and third basemen.

 

It appears that the Sox have been shut out from having a Top 15 prospect at all of those spots.

 

Hardly fatal because Baseball America ranked Jon Rauch and Paul Konerko as its Minor League players of the year.

 

But it's not a good sign of any top prospects at the top levels of the farm system.

 

I would assume Reed will crack the outfield list and maybe Cotts and Honel will make it as pitchers.

That's not too much of a suprise. The only player i can think of who may be deserving of a spot on that list is Yan. And he's still in A ball so i don't know about that.

Yan doesn't belong there until he can prove he has more than one tool.. Miles is too old for BA's taste.

 

A lot of the Sox top talent is young or borderline old.

frankly, I'm intrigued to find out if the Sox will give either Miles or Harris a chance.

 

if Roberto Alomar returns, the answer is NO.

 

If not, either Willie or Aaron has to play second base.

 

I believe Harris will eventually be a decent hitter. But I don't see him as an everyday center fielder. And I haven't seen enough of him at second base to know if he's solid there.

 

As for Miles, the guys has done nothing but hit the last two years at AA and AAA. I assume the question is his glove, range and ability to turn double plays.

 

I'm not opposed to giving him a chance, especially if Robbie Alomar is asking for too much cash.

I'd like to see the Sox resign Robbie, then have Miles, Harris and Alomar actually have to battle for the position in ST. I don't know if Alomar could hold off Miles if he was given a fair shot at it. If Miles beats Alomar out we could always trade him back to the Mets.

The mets have plenty of groundskeepers.

I think Robbie is washed up. He helped defensively , but only when compared to Jiminez. Harris should get the second base job. He'll hit and his speed will be a lot of fun to watch over a whole season.

I think Robbie is washed up, also. But the second base job should go to the guy that earns it and it not just be handed to Harris or anyone else.
