RIP Gale Sayers.

I am very surprised that this thread wasn’t already started by someone else.  Gale Sayers certainly deserves his own thread on this website.  He is my all-time favorite football player. His running style was unique to him and to this day no other football player excited me as much. As true a Chicago sports legend as anyone. RIP Mr. Sayers and thanks for the memories.gulp.gif

I guess since it transcended other social media we had other outlets. If anyone hasn't seen Brian's Song I highly recommend it. I read an article back in the 80s that basically said  if his injury had happened then the results would have been much better and he probably could have added many more productive years to his career.

I believe most importantly he was part of a long line of Chicago superstars that were also by all accounts, genuinely good people off the field as well.

Definitely deserves praise, but it’s likely 90% of the people who post here never saw him play or saw more than a few highlights. RIP & condolences to people like you who did grow up when he played. It stinks to lose a sports idol.
