I am still shocked

I bet just so they can keep all attention on the playoffs.

I meant after the conclusion of the playoffs, it still takes a long time.

It is well timed........ as soon as the WS ends, you have the beginning of players filing for free agency. Now the awards begin, before free agent signings are allowed.

I am still shocked, Gold Gloves awarded. and CLee did not win one

i appreciate the fine comments towards carlos.... his hard work is finally getting respect by more and more fans!

go sox 2004 + #45!

Why does it take so long for them to announce winners?

They space out announcing the award winners throughout the month of November to keep baseball in news. In December, comes the winter meetings, usually acoompanied by a few trades. Free agent signings occur all winter long. It's all designed and timed for marketing purposes.

I wouldn't vote for Lee for a Gold Glove, but I'll definitely agree that he has improved a great deal in the field. I just don't see him chasing down balls & making great plays, he catches everything that comes to him now (except in the filthy Metrodome, what a white roofed disgrace), and is fearless in the corner (he used to be a sissy on foul balls in 2001-2 in my opinion). Not Gold Glove, but above average with determination. Crede has Gold Glove written all over him, soft hands, good arm, good sense, good instincts. Crede just needs to hit .270, 20, 80 and he's irreplaceable at 3B for the Sox in my opinion.

Carlos is not, nor ever will be a gold glover. He has, though, busted his ass and made himself a very serviceable left fielder.

I agree on Crede. Future Gold Glover.

Agreed.

Most guys would just concentrate on improving their hitting only (since hitting is more glamourous), but Carlos has really worked hard at improving all aspects of his game.

I know he's not extremely slow, but he's not all that fleet of foot either - yet he stole 18 bases. He's our best hitter right now, IMO. Maggs isn't far behind, but he is behind at this point.
