I thought this line was funny:

During a visit to the Little Village Academy in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month this past September, the White Sox shortstop stood in front of a gymnasium filled with fifth and sixth graders and told the assembly that he wasn't a big fan of school during his days of reading, writing and arithmetic.

"Sandy (Alomar) had to correct him," said White Sox director of advertising and community relations Christine O'Reilly with a laugh concerning Valentin's off-the-cuff comment. "Jose made an error, but Sandy got us out of the inning."
