Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he been reported to have lost quite a bit of velocity? I seem to remember seeing that he can barely touch 90 somewhere. Chisoxfn
Fireballer who supposedly lost velocity (accoring to the Cuba Baseball officials and they have been known to lie). Remember, they don't want to see one of their players go and get a lot of money. He's going to have a tryout type session where he will showcase his stuff in the beginning of January, I think January 8th. 24 years old and is supposed to hit 100 with ease (if healthy). He says he is going to start asking for Jose Contreras money and I think he's nuts if he expects that. That being said at the right price, if healthy, he'd be an amazing pickup. If he can get up to 98, I'd be very, very damn happy. If we could get him for $3-5 mill, somewhere in that area while going no higher then that $5 mill, go out and get him. If he comes through, he'd be worth it.

If he doesn't have anyother pitches that he can get outs with than I say we pass on him. I haven't heard much about the other pitches he has witch worries me. Contreras is a stuff guy who also throws pretty hard (not even close to 100), Rodriguez seems to be a hardthrower, but his other stuff is a mystery as far as I have read. I also never like to hear about pitchers with a history of injuries.

You got a guy that can throw 100(with a little control), you got yourself not only a closer, but a hell of a good closer. Billy Wagner is going to make $10 mill this year because of 1 pitch. Loaiza21
If he's not get $8,000,000 per year, then he's most likely getting $3-6 Mil per year. That is a range I believe the White Sox can afford. Will they back down? Most likely yes...and they shouldn't for that kind of potential. And if your going to spend 6 mill a year, why not sign a guy thats pretty proven in the majors. Heck, if your willing to invest that you could land Washburn by giving up Rauch or waiting for them to non tender him. I just think that if your gonna spend 4-5 million, you better be really damn confident this guy is the real deal, cause your putting a hefty investment on a guy you've only watched pitch a few times, if that, and his medical history is a big if.
