Gammons changed his mind, now thinks...

Konerko is clearly better then Thomas at first base so there isnt really a need to play Thomas. Paul has more range then frank by far so why make frank play when Paul can?

Are you kidding me? Neither one of them can move more than six feet to their right. Konerko is in no way far better than Frank at first base. He (Konerko) has to be the slowest player in the entire major leagues. I guarantee you Frank would beat him in a foot race. Not to mention Frank puts up monster numbers when he plays the field.

Couldn't agree more. It's really embaressing to have a big man like frank probably beating a smaller dude like konerko in a race. At least we know that frank, even if his average is lower than what we expect, can still put up 30 homers 110 rbis a year. Pallie couldn't even do that when he had his off year. Frank's off year could be better than Konerko's good year (except average) IMHO.

Not quite.  Loaiza has never been out for the year with an injury due to something he didn't need to do.  Thomas did not need to dive...hell, odds are, Ichiro would have beaten it out anyways had he gotten it.

If Thomas got hurt hitting, then it would be comparable to any pitcher pitching.  He does not need to field

Besides, him not being able to throw it to second or third is also a negative...atleast Konerko can throw the ball around a little.

So are you one of the people that tell your super stars not to dive for a ball??? i think it is great of the big man to try for that ball it shows he does care. ill give u the throwing part though. but he isnt really that bad at making a throw.

That's a good way of looking at it. Frank didn't show any laziness by just letting that ball go. People would had probably questioned his desire for the game if he did that. (esp. if that would had turn into a horrible inning.) I don't think anyone is going to tell Ken Griffey Jr. to just let the ball bounce in front of him. That's what makes them great. They are willing to go all out for their team at any game. Gotta respect people like that. Frank is not a decent 1st baseman, but konerko is far from better. If anything, frank probably has more range than "turtle" konerko IMO.

not to mention the range he has coming off first base. he clearly has 2 feet on PK when strecthed out for a high throw.

Hmmm I wonder if DePodesta prob becomin da Dodgers new GM will affect da Maddux situation. I doubt it lookin at the A's rotation, but I think he will not want to deal Miller and Jackson, and hope that they r da 2nd coming of Zito and Hudson.

Gammons is an idiot. Who cares what he thinks.

Let's see now ... Gammons makes a pretty penny to watch baseball all the time, including getting to go to all the "event" games, and then telling what he thinks about what's happening. Here we are doing it for free. Yep. That sounds like an idiot to me.

He's a rich idiot then. Notice how he's only done previews from the AL EAST and the NL EAST so far. ;)

It reminds me of when I used to play in high school. I was, am, very slow and my coach used to tell me that I was the most dedicated musician he ever saw, because I carried my piano with me where ever I went.
