Details regarding design and renovation plans, timelines and the unveiling of the new U.S. Cellular Field logo will be announced in the near future. In making the announcement Friday, the White Sox and U.S. Cellular agreed to make no further comments until a joint press conference on Monday at the new U.S. Cellular Field, beginning at 11:00 a.m. (CT). "The Chicago White Sox have played an important and very visible role in this community for more than 100 years," said John E. Rooney, president and CEO of U.S. Cellular. "We are extremely proud of U.S. Cellular's Chicago roots. Our company's participation in a dramatic makeover of this great ballpark is exciting because it directly benefits White Sox fans and the City of Chicago." "Our goal is to create a world-class ballpark that reflects the City of Chicago," added Reinsdorf. "We will continue to improve the intimacy, feel and character of the ballpark over the next two years.. Fans have responded very positively to previous renovations, so we look forward to unveiling the new version of U.S. Cellular Field in 2005." Owner Charles A. Comiskey built White Sox Park in 1910 and it quickly became known as Comiskey Park, serving as the White Sox's home until 1990. New Comiskey Park opened in 1991. When i first saw the name Rooney I thought of Ed Rooney, from Ferris Bueller Day Off.
