Bears sign Michael Keathley

March 25, 2004

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -- The Chicago Bears signed guard Michael Keathley to a one-year contract Thursday.

Keathley played in eight games with two starts for the San Diego Chargers last season.

He was signed as a free agent out of TCU by the Chargers in 2001 and played mainly on special teams as a rookie. He was a backup guard in 2002. After the Chargers waived him last August, he was claimed by the Houston Texans, who left him inactive for five games before they waived him. He then signed back with the Chargers on Oct. 16.

The Bears begin their first minicamp under new coach Lovie Smith on Friday.

More preseason camp fodder to push Tucker and Gandy.

I wonder if Salaam and Brown are turning down the Bears. :huh

Love that goatee though :headbang keathley_michael.jpg

Wow, I'd of kind of figured the OG position was already full. At least one is gonna be dealt or cut before the start of the season, now I'm guessing two (Unless this guy could be slid over to the practice squad).
